So, a while ago, there was a thread like this, and now that I have become a host, I got interested in hosting a role-play in a player created world. In the last thread, we came up with three planets in the same sphere of air that rotated around a central point which rotated around the sun. This screws up physics a lot. Judging by this, the weather would be pretty windy, with lots of changing storms and calm winds and all that stuff. The first planet is a cube that is covered with trees and has a big ole' canyon/crater thingy, the second is split down the middle (With the possible thought of having a magic vs. science war going on.) and the third one was blown to bits and pieces which swirl around a central rock in the middle (Which for some reason I think would be a great place for a huge crowded city.

That's what we have so far. What we still need to make to have a fully functioning world is:

A magic system
Races
Monsters
Special Materials (i.e. Wood that floats, rocks that are precious and all.... Just stuff that is different and special to this world)
Places
Cultures
History
Villains
Anything else we can think of
Oh, and maps.

So what do you want to see in this world? I've got a couple of ideas, but I think that we as a community should make this world, and not me alone.

Would you rather not start off with a different world? Or do you prefer the pre-existing world?

I think we should create a world that experienced some sort of catastrophe and not parts of the world are screwed. Like the underwater city I thought of.

Also let's use that idea of yours, a flying city where pirate ships also fly and they roam around and fight and stuff.

Down below the world exists as fractured pieces that float near one another, or something...

First off, the world we started creating in the old thread never was finished. As the title says, this is part two. I'm just abiding by forum rules and not bringing the old thread back to life. This is just that idea before.... Revived.

Not to say that we can't use the underwater city idea. That's why I like the idea of these various planets; we can put various places and ideas in them. A city that's hidden underwater can fit perfectly on the cube planet or the planet that's been cracked in two.

Huh? I just said skypirate roleplay then. I was actually referring to this world when I wanted to make that RP. Not to say there can't be flying cities in this world. When I said skypirate RP, I just meant there would be ships. In the sky. That pirates rode on. And that's perfectly achievable in this world, so long as there are flying ships. Which would be perfectly possible if there were trees with wood that floats.

I suppose my aim is to create a world that is meant to be RPed in more than once. This is not a one-timer world. It's supposed to be one where everyone can stage an RP in.

Oooh, this looks exciting! I'll try to come up with some idea's because it sounds so fun.

Although I have a question, do you have a reason as to why/how the 3rd planet got blown to bits and pieces and why/how the second planet got split down the middle? I couldn't quite get if you needed the history parts to explain that also...
I must say that the Sky-Pirate thing sounds very interesting to put into this world, just like the underwater city.

On the magic vs. science war for the second planet, and this kinda ties in with how you would have to have the magic system, but you could have it where the war was brought about because when the planet got split in two, the ley lines or whatever you did for magic didn't reach into one half of the planet. So they could have both relied upon magic, but when the magic leaves the one half they turn to science since magic no longer works there. But that's how the war could start, the different factions start trying to take over the other or, because one half relies upon science and the other magic, they could be trying to rid the world of the other.
!
That's all I can think of to ask and suggest for now so, I'll be back! Muwahahahaa!

Magic system: Calories determine level of energy output.

Those with high metabolisms provide more easily accessible and sustained energy, but those with low metabolisms constantly build up a base of energy to burn in one solid burst. However, since they can basically keep the energy locked up forever until they need it, is is somewhat weaker and forms slowly.

@Starstruck

That's an odd suggestion, but if everyone else likes it, it could be the magic system. But my problem with it is that warrior need to burn calories a lot of the time. So warriors would have high magic potential?

Personally, my idea for magic was like this. Each planet has a core that is made of this odd kind of gemstone which is the essence of magic. They glow in different colors too. Depending on which planet you were born determines your magic potency. For instance, the right half of the split planet has high potential for magic, and the blown-to-bits planet has zilch for magic potential. Then, your race determines the type of magic you can cast. Let's say elves use classical D&D style magic. Some other group of people has control over the elements. Dwarves are enchanters. Etcetera. Depending on the potency of the planet core, that magic which you wield is more or less powerful. People born on a dead, or non-potent core can't cast magic. And then I was thinking about having wizards staffs, wands and amulets powered by pieces of the core that have chipped off the main part at some day and age, and can be found in caves or hidden on mountains. These things would simply lengthen the amount of magical energy you have to draw from.

That's just my idea. We could also go with leylines or calories, but that's for the community to decide.

I was thinking something along the lines of an asteroid, but if you've a better, more interesting idea, please, go ahead.

Going with my core idea from above, the core from one side of the planet could have stayed intact, just on one side of the planet. And as for the war part, I was thinking it could start politely when both sides crossed the split. But they would be suspicious of each other, and then maybe one of them would attack and assassinate the leader of one side, bringing out war. Again, just a thought though.

Hmm, I've thought of how you'd make the ships into flying pirate ships!!!

You could chip off pieces of the core of the planet and somehow use it to enchant the wood to make it fly in the air! Although that Idea only works with that magic system, obviously. But I like that magic system, so until someone thinks of a better or different one, i'll be thinking through that.

It doesn't even have to enchant the wood or whatever material you use, it could just generate energy which allows it to fly.

Also if you use the Magic Core Idea you could have it where it regenerates or heals it self. That way you don't damage it too much. At least not in the long run.

i have a suggestion for the third planet. it could have been blown to pieces by the core. people could have overused the core of that world causing it to destroy itself and shatter the planet. thus explaining the lack of magic and the planets current state.

@Rolly

Hmm. That's a good thesis. Although, going off of slace's idea of a certain core exploding, perhaps when it exploded, bit of magic flew off and leaked into the ground of some of the floating bits of broken up planet. That way, the magic could cause lots of different effects, such as floating wood, for instance. Just my two cents.

@Slace

I love this idea, although I had originally thought that it would have been blown up before civilization arrived. But your idea is far better, unless ancient aliens from before the dawn of civilization abused the core.

@Legendium

We could do that with the floating wood, it sounds logical. And Legendium, you still could have the planet blow up before civilization arrived, sort of. You could just have NO traces of that Civilization really at all and then a new civilization came along.

Also Legendium did you want to have any Gods/Deities in this world? Ones that actually are real and can do things to the world? I just want to know so that I can look at it through that way.

@Slace
That's a good Idea Slace! I think we should go with it.
