@Rowl: I find it hard to believe that you know more than me about the changes that mercenaries have suffered through since I've been playing mainly as a merc and TM since beta, and started switching from merc to TM and back and forth a lot during gamma, all the way until now. Merc was so underpowered in delta, the most seemingly-optimal build for mercs other than caster back then was focus, and it was even worse than trying to play TM focus now. You said they nerfed our "main skills," but which are these? They nerfed bunker because HP was reduced, and I'm still hitting massive numbers on a level 4 bunker, even when it doesn't crit. Don't let the change in damage in Omega deceive you, because HP was also lowered in the extreme, so a -5 damage nerf on a skill is still normal in Omega. Berzerker was also nerfed, but it still hits absurdly high numbers on turn 2 compared to other classes. Surgical strike was never nerfed and is a great tactical asset to mercs, and faster rage given Omega's faster fights definitely helps a lot. Adrenaline is, without a doubt, underestimated. I would say the point that merc was totally nerfed in would be delta, because the only build that actually worked was caster. Support merc wasn't even that great, especially since it reined supreme in gamma so it was weakened in delta.
