Blood Mages do need a energy draining skill, because every other class that isn't Blood Mage has one it becomes nearly impossible for them to be a caster, or it is impossible. Supercharge cannot be used, Overlord and Plasma rain cannot be used, 2v2? Sure, 1v1? Impossible. It's common knowledge but the reason Tact Merc and Tech Mage as so good at being casters is because they have reroute AND a energy draining skill. Cyber hunter, awhile not as powerful has Static Charge which doesn't need to be a independent skill with a little support can be stacked with level 1-4 Malfunction. This is similar with Bounty Hunter, I've seen level 1 Smokes go as high as -32 dexterity, really? Every class can get away with having high skills / low level except Blood Mage. Now back to the Firebolt issue. FireBolt is a useless skill "Its unblockable so its useful" people will argue, for 31 energy? No, it isn't. I have never seen a Blood Mage that didn't put all their stats into strength use this skill and those that do are typically easy to beat. I personally use it because I fight 1v1 more than 2v2 and in both situations players are quick to chuck a emp at me or some draining skill when they see it at level 10. Speaking of level 10, the only way to get it to do more damage than your strength is to have it at least level 8, what is that all about? So for 27 energy I can use a skill that is no more powerful than primary/sidearm and its unblockable? As mentioned by Tgod its just a weaker physical meteor that eats up much needed energy. It makes sense why the majority of successful Blood Mages typically use level 5 Plasma Cannon and Field Medic. The other skills Overlord, Plasma Rain, SuperCharge, and Firebolt aren't fit to be used.
