Agreed, their goal was to slow battles, not needlessly buff tank builds via nerfing non tanky offensive ones. Before the recent balance change, I found all style of builds to be relatively competitive, whether it be all rounded builds, tanky, or offensive. Now it seems you have to spam defenses and use the attacks that improve with that as a source of damage to get anywhere. Tanks can keep their needlessly high defense, but if they also have a reasonably high damage output they have no downside and inhibit viable variety. I hope this suffices as a reasonable , "why".
