Wow it's been over 14 years since I made my first AQ account. I've recently became curious on how much the game has changed since I stopped playing years ago, and was wondering what can be done for my character to make it more "modern"

https://aq.battleon.com/game/flash/charview?temp=18816982

That's my character page. I've always been the warrior type with the 200 STR and DEX stuff

Thanks!

Welcome back!

First things first, as you may have noticed, the stat cap has been raised to 250. This means that lvl 150 pure warriors generally go for a 250 Str/Dex/Luck build.

Second, several subraces have been updated to modern standards, with 10 skills and everything - but, alas, dracopyre is not one of them. As a 0-Int warrior, you'd be best served by the Werewolf subrace. So go to Darkovia, complete the advanced subrace quest and get a 9th slot Werewolf Transformation armor, complete with Str/Dex drives, a qc Fear infliction (that has great synergy with some other items) and a lvl 10 Beast Form that makes you deal nearly 2x damage!

Next, I'd like to link you to the Commonly Used Strategies page. In short, the current meta focuses on stun-locking the monster, then crushing it with powerful elecomped skills.

Finally, before going after anything else, I highly recommend picking up Essence Orb. This misc allows you to convert hp into sp without costing a turn - and that allows you to spam skills and nukes basically every turn!

Now, without further ado:

Weapons

The best energy weapons are currently rare - so make Energy your no-drop element. Most FO builds also align their Awe special to PWD for that 4% insta-kill chance.

Bloodzerker Sword series from the Rare GGB are easily among the top weapons in the game, as they pay a minor hp cost for a 20% damage bonus. There's also Lorekeeper's Oath in LTS, which toggles to deal harm damage.

Water actually has quite a few good weapon options. There's a Quenching Bloodzerker sword for pure damage, the revamped Kindred sword for a chargable autohit and Blade of Thornful Rose from the current Void rotation that has a clickable skill for Bloodzerker synergy (leaves on Thursday!).

The best wind weapon is premium, the next best is a seasonal rare and nothing else particularly stands out - just pick up something generic like the Fujin spear.

MagnaBlade is the only remaining weapon in the game that gives you +30% damage (at the expense of taking +25/1.4% damage).

Terra Bloodzerker sword is an earth clone of the Blazing one. There's also the recently revamped Troll Club with a Berserk toggle, which deals even more damage, but at the expense of your accuracy.

Lumanomancer's Bloodblade (functionally a Bloodzerker sword clone) is great as a standalone weapon. Another option would be the Morningstar Cross. Being 100-proc, it's slightly subpar for regular armor attacks, but you can click on it for a 2x damage weapon skill, which has great synergy with Bloodzekrer armor toggles.

Terror Eater also has a clickable skill, consuming the monster's Fear to deal increased damage - great synergy with Werewolf's qc Snarl. If you don't have the tokens, Jalek's Panic Reaver also consumes Fear, but instead of damage it gives you bonus accuracy and Lucky Strike rate. If you want something simpler, URs have Agony's Embrace which gives you a 15% damage bonus.

Armors

Blazing Bloodzerker pays a small hp cost to deal +20% damage and has a toggle that locks your attacks to 2x armor element damage - great synergy with Morningstar Cross, Terror Eater or Blade of Thronful Rose. If you don't have a spare UR, Torontosaurus Rex has a fire skill that deals 1.5x skill damage for 2x the cost.

Your Moglord Tortress is an old standard armor - its skill has op elecomp, making it one of the strongest water nukes in the game.

Grenwog Rider from UR GGBs toggles between wind and earth forms and has skills for both of those elements. Wind skill in wind form GR has a fairly high elecomp, making it one of the better wind nukes. If you lack a spare UR, just use the werewolf elemental variant Rage Beast.

Horo Show is another old standard armor, strongest ice nuke available to warriors.

Your Werewolf Transformation no-drop works fairly nice as an earth armor.

Taladosian and your WKZ are old standard armors for energy and light.

Predator of the Night (werewolf variant) can work as a darkness armor. Another alternative is the Angel of Souls with an hp-costing darkness skill.

The revamped Kindred armor is worthy of a separate note. It can spend a turn gathering charges, which can then be expended on an up to 6x damage skill that follows the element of your weapon. The really op part is that the charges carry over between battles - you can spend 5 minutes stacking charges against Combat Trainer, then go and crush nearly any boss in the game with a barrage of Kindred Strikes. Not something you'd use on a daily basis, perhaps, but worth a storage slot.

Shields

Fire doesn't really have anything outstanding, so you might as well just upgrade your Overlord set shield.

Celtic Wheel's Int drive, in conjunction with an Int misc, give you enough mp for one cast of Moonwalker's Grace.

Fujin set shield has a Dex drive, increasing the accuracy of all your attacks.

There are quite a few good ice shields, but the one I would recommend is probably Pies. Its Cha drive would give you a small damage boost via the Dunamis guest and make your pets just a little bit better.

Chieftain's Ironthorn has been updated. It no longer gives the op *1.5 damage boost, but it does function as a top-level earth shield and has a Str drive to increase your damage.

If you find yourself with a spare UR, get Golden Dragon Head shield for a boost to your LS rate. Otherwise, Scarab Shell has a toggle to lower monster MRM, which would increase the accuracy of all your attacks.

If you have the tokens, Terror Drinker can consume Fear for a qc heal - great synergy with Werewolf's Snarl. If not, Lantern of Souls has a small chance to autoblock any hit,

Spells

Your first UR priorities are Call Thernda and Call Dunamis spells. They summon guests that deal no damage, but boosts the power of your Ranged and Melee attacks respectively. If you don't have the URs, pick up Essence of Carnage. In Rampant mode it provides a small damage boost to your melee/ranged attacks and has a Backlash effect.

Purple Rain is one of the most useful meta spells, to the point where there's an entire strategy build around it (see Purple Rain Loop in Commonly Used Strategies linked above). It acts as a save point - cast it once to save your current sp/mp/hp, then cast all your buffs (like Moonwalker's Grace and SFP) and debuffs (like Snarl), then cast Purple Rain again to return your sp/mp/hp back.

Some of the spells that could be cast inside the PR loop:

- Moonwalker's Grace. Qc Dex booster, costs mp.

- Edoc Imanok. Qc MRM boost, enhances your blocking.

- Arms of the Dragonguard. Make your next attack an automatic Lucky Strike. Not qc.

- Buffalot Beach Bod. Qc Str boost for 3 turns. Premium, unfortunately.

- Imbues (token) are some of the most useful spells in the game. They change the element of your next weapon-based attack/skill (not spell or spell-based skill!) to another element and often have other nifty benefits. Horo Show + Fire Dragon Talon = fire nuke with 50% bonus damage. WKZ + Terror Fist = dark nuke with Fear infliction. Dragonslayer Aura = void damage against dragons.

Runic Binding gives you a harm SPell.

Your Body Heals at the Speed of Light is a healing spell that uses monster's Light Resistance for numbers (so don't use against Sunrays!). It's somewhat situational, but it also uses Dex (instead of End) for stats and doesn't have the usual *0.9 penalty.

Pets

The best pets for any warrior would be Dunamis and Thernda, but unfortunately they are premium. Barring that, you'd want pets with unique effects or ones that could enhance your own attacks:

Underwyrmling is the only pet in the game that can attack monster sp.

Kindred pet can gather charges for your Kindred sword or armor.

Fujin pet inflicts DefLoss, increasing the accuracy of all your attacks.

For ice, you have a choice between two options. Frozen Effigy can toggle to Freeze the monster, great synergy with any fire nukes - but the save is against End, so it will happen fairly rare. Frosty Godfather (LTS) only inflicts paralysis - but the save is against Cha, so the chances are noticably higher, since most monsters have 0 Cha.

When the Void rotation circles back to it in a few weeks, you'll want to pick up WoolZard, a pet that toggles between inflicting Sleep and EleVuln and can increase the infliction chances for an sp cost. Until then, the best choice would be Fu Dog with a petrification toggle that saves against Cha - but that's a UR. If you're unwilling to spend one, the Morningstar pet toggles to inflict randomly DefLoss or EleVUln, increasing the accuracy or damage of your attacks.

PikaZard has a chance to paralyze the monster.

For light, your final goal would be Lepre-Chan, a booster pet that enhances all your light attacks, but it only comes back on Blarney. Until then you have a choice between the Osiris pet (Fear infliction against Cha) and Fairy Godmother (heal toggle).

Model 294 toggles to inflict EleVuln, increasing the damage of all your darkness attacks.

Miscs

Your first priority would be Essence Orb,as mentioned above.

Shadowfeeder Pendant is one of the best meta enablers - by clicking on it, you can get qc celerity; great synergy with Purple Rain and any elecomped nukes. When Snugglefest comes back, you'll also want to pick up Love Potion for qc control.

Goggernaut Helm is a cheap accuracy misc that boosts the accuracy of every attack on the field, including your pets, and doesn't /2 for spells and spell-based skills.

There are quite a few damage-boosting miscs,to the point where I can't recommend anything specific. Aside from your SME and Ranger's Scope, there's also Minotaur's Pride (+Str and Melee damage), Eye of Osiris (+Str and bth), Murderator Gauntlet (+Str, Cha and chance to control the monster) and Grakma Warhorn (Berserk toggle - +dam, -accuracy).

Terror Visage increases your Snarl's chances of inflicting Fear.

Bell Shell heals a bit of your hp based on damage dealt. The heal is less than CoRS', but it also doesn't reduce your damage, making it an overall better choice for FO builds.

Morningstar Helm gives immunity to paralysis. If you want something a little more sp-efficient, Blood Ruby and Liquid Courage give resistances to paralysis and fear respectively.

Hope the info's useful and don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!
