For those that are unaware, @AnimAnimalKing (one of AQ's artists) has a house where he unofficially codes and tests a variety of experimental Boss monsters. These monsters often feature unique art/mechanics and, due to their experimental nature, are completely unavailable anywhere else in-game. Due to these characteristics, many of the bosses are some of the hardest (e.g., Sandy Claws' Pet Boo, with 70k HP) and most iconic (e.g., Sehr Stilvol Dragon) available to the player. Combined with the lack of a reward, they turn Anim's house into something similar to the Void of old. A testing ground where the player can test their mettle, their reward being the glory of overcoming the odds. In case anyone reading this wants to have a go for themselves, Anim's House ID is 19336901.

The reason I bring this up is that this system has its limitations. Anim currently has to switch out old bosses whenever he designs a new encounter (otherwise his house guard list would be extremely long). This is a problem because, as I mentioned, these fights are both difficult and iconic (and therefore interesting). New and returning players miss the opportunity to fight the old bosses since they can't stick around.

With this in mind, I have a proposal: Provide Anim with an experimental in-game area to store and test his creations. To be clear, this does not mean I want Anim's experiments to become part of the official release cycle. We have plenty of recurring events as is and, more importantly, these fights work best precisely as experiments. It's part of what makes them so entertaining. I'm only suggesting Anim is provided a space where he can produce and store his boss fights so they can be permanently retained and fought. That way, everyone gets the opportunity to fight these abominations. Such a space should, naturally, come with a clear message that the ensuing fights could contain bugs (it's an experiment) and that the reward should be the glory of getting the win. Whilst I definitely wouldn't say no to a pet Sehr Stilvol Dragon, the system is fine as it is. There just needs to be a way to retain the fights.

What do you think? Have you fought any of Anim's test monsters yourself? Did you enjoy it? Would you like to see them retained for the future?

Agree, and this leads me to the following idea.

First, the place for Anim's monsters to be held is and should be: The Estate Museum --> Displayed Monster Paintings

Expanded idea to include all players:

1. Everyone with a museum should be allowed, if so desired, to display inside it (staff would have to make a room or rooms inside) that a player can display all void and anim-based and other monster paintings. This allows the owner to visit them whenever they choose for free.

2. Engine Update to differentiate "monster access paintings" from all others via some sort of "tag", if necessary to allow this to occur.

3. Other players should be able to access other's museums and view the owner's monster paintings.

4. Other players should be allowed to PAY z tokens to the owner to access the monster. This means non-owners of void monsters can find ways to access void monsters outside of void rotations by paying z tokens to painting owners.

5. They say art can increase in value. Paying 500 tokens or w/e is deemed ok to access the fight will eventually pay for the painting for many.

6. Museums free GGB remains.

7. Anim's painting access is free

8. All of Anim's monsters be given a painting reward

This gives the museum a new function that'd be desirable and give Anim a place to house his creations in one fell swoop.

100% agree with @CH4OT1C!. These are like secret void challenges, and I love them. It's terrible when they leave.

In my opinion, the best solution is just to add them to the Void, in a special "testing" area. The easiest solution is to put each of them as guards in separate staff character houses, and to have some sort of pinned post on the forums giving the house id for each house/challenge.

Alternatively, I would be happy to add them to my house gauntlet! (If y'all haven't tried it yet, visit my house at house id 51836365, and if you beat it message me and I'll add you to the Hall of Fame).

I was wondering when someone was going to post this. Or rather it should have been here all along. Maybe these bosses could even be added to the Void Area since there hasn't been any updates to it since the 3 Birds update.

i've seen it talked about A LOT lately about how much people enjoy anims test guards and want some to return so i figured i'd come post on here. as chaotic mentioned the main issue with having the test guards at this house is he needs to periodicallt swap the guards out and can't have too many at a time. so many old and returning players have missed out on a good portion of them, myself included. i really like chaotics idea of a "testing ground" area for anims creations. i was going to suggest you could have one guard available at a time on a rotation sort of like the void and your reward could be a painting for z-tokens, then you could visit that test monster to fight whenever you want. as they are test monsters i could understand not wanting to have a portal painting linked directly to it, so even if we just had a testing ground where we could choose to do a gauntlet or select a certain test guard would be awesome. again, chaotic makes a really good point about them not needing to become part of the weekly release schedule, we already have so much backlogged and recurring events that it wouldn't be necessary. where they are anims test monsters i think he should still work on them and release them at his own pace, which he seems to do really well with. i also seen people talking about getting rewards from these fights and while that would be desired by i imagine the entire player base with the already busy schedule just having the test monsters is a treat. plus if items were then being designed for the test monsters it would take even more time from the busy backlogged schedule. chaotic really hit the nail on the head with everything he said. i'm by no means a good AQ player, in the slightest. i enjoy spamming the attack button with gear i think looks cool, so with certain things in the game i really struggle. personally i have only fought 4 of his guards, his newest test reme d (which i embarrassingly have still not beaten, even the "nerfed" version lol) and 3 others that were in a gauntlet style, sandy claws, some witch and some santa charecter i believe? it took me many, many attempts, but i actually was able to clear all 3 and reach anims house. for a player like me it was pretty impressive. it was by far the most rewarding feeling i have ever achieved while playing this game. even if i do struggle they're an absolute blast and i quite look forward to seeing what else anim has in store for us!

Mod Anim: xiProZombiEz reached out in advance regarding necro bumping or making a new thread. Thus this posts has my blessing to necro bump. Not that I'm being biased. ~Anim

Yes please-
For me, creative challenge bosses are the most engaging content in the game and the reason I stay around. Anim’s bosses are consistently the most challenging and fun out of these. I can’t say how much I would love to have a permanent spot for this content!

+1, great idea, even if it is executed in the simplest possible way I think it would be incredibly popular

It's been asked a few times what would happen to the estate stat trainers now that the normal stat trainers do basically the same thing. You could have one for old Void bosses and one for Anim bosses.

Would like to add more support for this idea, along with two observations as well!

A few weeks ago just before Anim first added Reme D, Anim's house had had 6666 visitors (someone screenshotted it because it was funny). If I recall correctly, Anim then added Reme D in response, and just about 6 hours later, it had 6825 visits. While some of those were surely repeat visits, I suspect that it's really a hub of activity compared to most other content in game.

Secondly, there was another thread that was essentially hijacked (whoopsie :P ) to support the idea of anim getting a location for bosses, and if that extra support would help sway any staff opinion, I'll link it here http://forums2.battleon.com/f/fb.asp?m=22410685

The only other thing I'd say is I'd love for it to be permanently accessible and adventurer accessible, so I'd personally be against something like a museum, but whatever works for the staff I'd be happy with even if it's not my ideal location

+1 to the idea as I often engage and even give feedback for these. Even if Anim dreads my raids on the cookie jar.

Apparently I hadn't voiced support for Anim to get a hub but I agree with everyone that it would be nice to have. I think Anim's tests and the information that comes from them can be really helpful, in addition to basically being extra content that's fun to engage with. An Anim gauntlet could be fun as well, especially if there's a house guard update to allow control over the details of the gauntlet.

I also agree.

Most of the bosses were very enjoyable, and would be cool to fight them again to try out different strategies.

It would also be good for those with equipments that are currently non-playable to have them give them out as rewards, such as Valkyrie Vampire's equipments as well as Good Ol'Gil-dead Goof VI's hammer.

I just noticed that I never replied to this thread. Anim boss fights have been some of the most fun I've had in AQ in recent years, and I would love to have permanent access to all of his experiments. While I would prefer for this hub to not cost anything, I certainly would spend a lot of Z-Tokens for the opportunity to fight these bosses without the House Guard restrictions. It would be particularly fun if we could make customizable gauntlets with the ability to pick and choose both the number of fights and the order of the fights.
