Oh joy of all joys, it has begun! Things will be fun!

To Kell: I'm assuming that the spikes/floor of the arena can be moved via magnetism so my character can manipulate the environment to some extent. That is to say, my character can rip one of the spikes from the floor and fling it at someone, right?

Not so. As stated in the Arena's description, the metal that makes up the Arena is unbreakable by magical or physical means.

...

Soooooooooooooo that means that most of my character's abilities are basically uselss. The floor IS magnetic/magentizable, correct?

The entire Arena is a mass of metal, the entire thing can be magnetized. It cannot, however, be broken apart of manipulated, it is designed to take abuse.

Ok, that's fine with me, my character still has magentic manipulation, so I'm good, I'll post in a bit. Good luck to everyone else!

I have a post coming in as well, I've already got an entry, now a simple defensive strategy must be put in place to prepare for the coming contestants.

Post is up. Yes, Elias is infested by small sea-dwelling organisms. And yes, he is constantly itching and scratching to relieve the discomfort. Will these parasites pass on from their host when contact is made? That is a very likely possibility!

The lumbering Cassivo has entered the fray! Prepare yourselves! I hope you have a good time reading it. :D

I'm gonna read through Sheriff and Super's posts then get to writing.

To Kell: There are only four spikes emerging from the floor, which surround the pillar. Right? Are they similar/same to the ones attached to the walls, and can we... For example, hide behind them? Just interested about that.

From what I understand, the four spikes are attached to the pillar and point outwards in different directions and at different heights, but all perpendicular to the floor, same as the spikes on the walls.

*I really want that center pillar to be able to spin... :P*

Kell, is the center pillar capable of spinning in any way, or is it rooted in place? Supposedly the pillar in the middle of the arena is NOT spinnable... Too bad...

Er. Sent Kell a PM before I saw that the OOC threads were open. I'll ask the same questions here as I did in the PM--

Are the tops of the walls of the arena smooth or spiked? How large is the arena? Are the outsides of the walls made of the same metal as the insides, or are they climbable?

Super I hope you don't mind that Anfur is interested in Cassivo. Just to say it now if I didn't make myself clear in the post: Anfur currently thinks Cassivo is an elemental.

Once again, hope you don't mind. ^_^

One quick question: Are the four floor spikes hollow or solid?

Working on my post. Man I'm glad Simonaque didn't wind up in a lake or something! Although it still would've been interesting to RP with most of her powers useless...

Metal is good though! Heat is easily conducted through metal! That's a good thing! For Simonaque at least...

Nope, I don't mind at all, and him having false assumptions about Cassivo is all part of my master plan, so no problem at all :P

So, what part of Cassivo makes him think that the creature is an elemental? And what type of elemental does he think it is?

Hey Superjars, you got company from a crazy old Moglin who likes fish, tacos and pie.... and some other stuff.

I know, it's not very long, and I appologize, but I really couldn't come up with anything for a grand entrance. Radnav like to lay low and do his own thing. The posts will be longer once the action starts, promise >.>

It seems to me that everyone loves Cassivo! That or everyone is just fascinated by the freaky creature from the black lagoon-type guy who *appears* to be naught but a lumbering, ponderous beast... I'm curious as to who will make the first move... :D

Nex, the Spike arena is a bowl with a flat bottom. The walls are spiked from top to bottom. The spikes and walls are of the same material as the floor and are impervious to any kind of damage or physical manipulation. Temporary charging of small portions, such as magnetizing a patch of the floor or electrifying one or two spikes, is usually OK, provided you explain to Kell what you plan to do and how limited the effect is. That being said, there is no "outside" walls and there is no "top" of the wall. You're in a deadly, spiky pit, and there's no getting to the top of the wall.

As far as dimensions go, those may have changed this year so I'll let Kell answer the size of the arena question.

Actually, Radnav is more bored/curious about the center of the room and just wants to find out what happens when he goes there. He doesn't really have too many motivations besides food. Frotunately, he ate right before the tournament, so it's good.

But yeah, right now he's stalking you :P

Right, first of all, I apologize for the typo. When editing the Arena I made a slight mistake. There are no spikes attached to the central pillar. Rather, there are four blades affixed to it, running the entire height of the the pillar, with their sharp edges presented outwards in the cardinal directions. The spikes on the walls are solid metal. Nex, I returned your PM concerning the dimensions in question of the Arena. If you'd like to repost it here for the others' benefit, that would be good.

It goes to note that the wall mounted spikes are of variable sizes and thicknesses, and are not organized in any meaningful way.

Edit: Ultrapowerpie, you are not allowed to edit your posts once they have been made without first consulting me as to the changes you plan to make. In the future, please refrain from doing so.

Really? Oh I'm terribly terribly sorry about that Kell. I was just adding to the post for background story, that's all. I'll make sure to do so in the future. <.<

But yeah, thanks for excusing that Kell, here's a giant tuna for you

Don't use that text unless you have a question Pie.

Posted. Nicely sized post. Not a mammoth, but nicely sized all the same... At least I think so.
Anyway, will be waiting for others to post.

*Grins at other characters* Now I have to laugh, 'cause Simonaque is the only girl in the arena. I just have to laugh at that. It reminds me of my family, in which I'm the only girl... xD

Posted. I had a much grander entrance planned, but alas it did not work out. Good luck to all.

EDIT: Here's Kell's PM. It expands a bit on what TDK said.
quote:

Spike is basically a giant metal bowl, inside of which the competitors fight. The bowl has a diameter of roughly 75 yards, with the spikes at the very top jutting out, which more or less precludes mounting the top of the bowl, since not only are the spikes in the way of making it there, it is also where the protective spells and barriers are, which you don't want to touch. The spectators sit above the bowl, looking down into it.

EDIT2: The edit in my IC post was to remove an overlarge paragraph spacing. I got approval for it. Just to let everyone know.
