Just a few miscellaneous questions :)

1 - How do you get your own avatar?
2 - How can you add an image as your signature, and are there any requirements for it?
3 - Is it possible to change your forum name?

All of this info can be found in =AE= Frequently Asked Questions but pulling quotes directly from it... here's the answers to your questions...

1.)

Some official contests will have a specific avatar as a prize that is not available to other forum members. We limit custom avatars to certain people because otherwise the forums would be overloaded with even small images.

First, make sure it's a valid image type -- .jpg, .gif, or .png. Second, make sure you're using the proper tags: [image][/image], or [img][/img] - NOT [IMG][/IMG] in capitals, that won't work. You can upload that image to something like Photobucket or Imageshack and use the URL from there.

If you want to know how to make a signature, or want to ask someone to make one for you, check out the Signature and Art requests forum. The sig experts there can help you out -- just be sure you read the rules there first.

3.) Yes. Send a PM to Seahawk, one of the forum administrators. He will handle that for you... however, he will only change your name ONCE, so think very carefully on your choice.

Sorry, I realised I could get my answer to #1 there, but I am just a bit confused as to what the code is that I should use for my signature :/ thanks for the answer to the other question anyway :)

To have a image appear as your signature, you'll need the image URL, and then slap it in between Image tags. So... for example, it would look like; 

[image]http://i855.photobucket.com/albums/ab113/littlewomba_photo/MyBigMacSiggy.jpg[/image]




There are size limits to signatures however, they can only be 500x100 (and 50Kb's). Even for non-images.

Now... you can also put a LINK into your signature, so that when a person clicks on it, it will open up a tab to the link. In this case, you'll want to add a bit more code into it... so it would look like...

[link=Link URL][image]Image URL[/image][/link]

Now, let's see what that would look like with an actual link.



As you can see... it shows the image, and when clicked on it will open the link (the image, being linked in this example).

Okay, thanks - I guess then if I upload it to ImageShack and then take the forum URL then that will work. Thanks again :)

 Hi Deathex 1V,

1). I know how you feel to have your own avatar.
The most people are just like you who wish to have their own avatar which called as custom avatar.

Unfortunately as a regular member you can't get a custom avatar.
You must have an ability in order to get acces to upload a custom avatar.

  • As Wombo mentioned above is correct. Here are 2 tips:
    1. Be active, nice and do as best as you can to help out people and the forums in any forums.
    2. Don't expect too much, if you deserve it you will just get the ability to upload a custom avatar as a surprise. :)

    2). [image]URL(the link of your image)[/image]

    3). Yes, it's possible. You can Seahawk for name change.
    Remember: You can only change your forum name once.

    2. Then, there is a blank field where you can fill in the name you want, then click on the Quick Find button.

    		Thanks to you also, I wasn't particuarly interested in changing my avatar, I just noticed that some people had custom avatars, so no worries :) Hopefully you can expect a name change from me and also a signature, so thankyou very much for your guidance :)
