Congratulations to all of the Finalists, best of luck in the battle ahead.

For the Finals round, a more aggressive enforcement of the post schedule will be followed. Speak to me if you have questions or concerns. You must post once every three days.

The first cut will be this Friday, unless someone idles out, which I certainly hope does not occur.

The Finals are slightly different from the dropoffs, in that characters will, obviously, but cut from competition while others continue to fight. If you are cut, there are three choices before you. The first is withdrawal, your entrant will know that he has not been deemed fit to continue, and can thus withdraw if he or she so desires. The second is surrender, your entrant becomes open to free kill by any remaining competitor. The third option is spite, your entrant may use all of their remaining energy in a final, last ditch attack against the other competitors, however, after doing so, they are open to free kill by any remaining competitor.

Entrant-RPer-Element
Goshen Shaljrne - superjars - Earth
Henry "The Gourmet" DeFranco - The Dragon Knight - Fire
G'thrax "Grax" Tideseeker - Micosil - Water
Dajaal - .Discipline - Darkness
Salina Goodchild - Mirai - Wind
Marcos “The Frozen Archive” Vardiante - Krey - Ice
Reeve - Geddesmck - Energy
Leira Wainwright - Ryu Viranesh - Light

Yea! Congratulations to all those through, and comiserations to those who didn't make it.

<While saying this, Mirai does embarrassing version of the funky chicken dance at getting through to finals for the first time.>
<Shh- nobody tell Mirai there weren't any other wind competitors left...>

Good show to all those through. All those who didn't make the cut, hats off to you, you've been excellent as well.
I'm going to have some real fun this time. No mercy, only quick and brutal kills.

See you guys in the arena. :D

It was very close, I'm sure, for Earth, but I am honored to be chosen. Congrats to all who made their way into the Championships and to all those who dropped out or did not make it, I expect to see you back next year, raring and ready to take all of us on again!

My intro post has been made and Goshen must finish his tour de challenge to satisfy his honor.

Hmmmm... we still have quite a few people left to post. I hope we don't get idle deaths before even getting an entrance for everybody.

Apologies for the 'filler' post- I may not have internet access tomorrow, and I'd hate to idle death before the finals have really begun!
The action in my post can be summarised as 'Salina takes one step forward.'

Aaand posted. Marcos' spell is not complete, by the way. You still have time to interrupt. In fact I kind of expect it, he's mostly testing the waters right now.

Dajaal is probably going to do SOMETHING at some point. But for now he's waiting for an opportunity.
He's channeling bloodlust, too, which is likely to make him somewhat more resilient and murderous.

I posted again, which constitutes what is thus far my favorite Goshen post. It just came out really well when I wrote it. Anyway, the challenge is made and we'll see who shall take it up.

Micosil, editing is not allowed without permission, keep this in mind.

All entrants, this will be your only warning. Further edits without first seeking my permission will carry consequences.

I'm rather enjoying the dialogue between Salina and Marcos...

Postie up- Superjars, I hope you'll accept imitation as the sincerest form of flattery, as Arena Sandstorm Mark 2 has been sent on its way to Marcos.

Krey- there's the usual 2 part element with Salina's attack, in terms of the force of the wind itself and also the sands it's flinging up in its wake.

I have had several questions thus far, so I'm going to clarify here for all entrants.

Contrary to popular belief, the Finals Arena is not an octagon. The Finals Arena is large circle approximately 150 feet in diameter. There's a lot of room to work with.

Attention all entrants.

The Dragon Knight has been cut. The Pillar of Fire has vanished. Yes, you read that right, it's just gone, there one moment, and vanished the next.

The first cut has been made. The next cut will occur on Wednesday, the 27th.

I posted.

Mirai, let me know if I have overestimated or underestimated something or anything like that. From your post I believe I am pretty close to the proper scale of things. As far as the ice spear goes, soon as Marcos sees you it will fly. Only warning will be his outstretched hand swinging your way. Feel free to notice that.

I figure the sandstorm is fairly limited in its actual width, but with the concentration at shorter ranges likely fairly thick where it is. Enough to make it hard to see a target. But maybe I am overestimating! Either way, problems, tell me, no problems, good!

Also Marcos is all about flair. And I totally wanted him to fire off his comeback but he had way too much to do to be talking :P

EDIT: Which explains why he did not see the fire pillar vanish. That and I did not see the OOC post til I finished writing. He will probably notice that later on.

@Kell: Based on a slight error in my last post (i.e. I noted Grax as moving where he remained still) I would like to request permission for an edit to fix that.
Apologies, I shouldn't have assumed movement and an attack were a single action.

My apologies for not being around. As I had mentioned before, I was out of town, and unfortunately my folks had no internet where I was. If it's not too late for me to post, I will have one up by Sunday morning

Sorry to hear that TDK- as I mentioned at the time, I thought your battle with Goldstein in Sky arena was comedy genius of the highest order.

Krey- no worries, I'm entirely happy with how you estimated the strength of Salina's windblast/sandstorm effects. In turn, I've assumed that your ice-spear catches Salina a glancing blow on her shoulder (no serious damage, but enough that she'll be reluctant to trust her left blade for blocks- at least for a minute or two) and spins her about into a counterattack of her own. I think her triple attack ('bullet' aimed roughly above the sternum, sword slashing at lower rib cage, 'ice-skate' slashing at thighs) makes sense, but obviously just give me a shout if anything needs clarifying.

Oops, didn't actually read through the OOC before I posted. My sincerest apologies again, everyone. I had expected to have internet over the past week, but I'm afraid it went on the fritz the same day I arrived up north. Next year I'll be back, with a new character and new tricks, and I'll go the distance. Have fun, all, and may the best archon of some elemental Lord win.

It all makes sense Mirai, though it's likely to be a rather badly balanced attack and in her movement, aiming that bullet has got to be really tricky.

About how would you relate the bullet, by the way? BB gun, .22 rifle, etc.? Or in simpler terms, sting, painful, damn painful, deadly?

Lol- that's an understatement. I practiced that sequence of moves myself in advance of posting (sans swords), and almost fell over twice. It's a sequence slightly indebted to an old karate teacher of mine, who admittedly had far better balance than me. Depending a little on how Marcos reacts to the attack, I was thinking I might have Salina rolling onto the floor/dropping a weapon (left sword?) in my next post.

Anyway... as for the bullet, it'd be similar to a .22 (albeit far closer to the Smith & Wesson version of 1857 than the modern equivalent)- so depending on where it hit a character, and how well they were armoured- 'deadly.' However, for exactly the reasons you surmised, it'd be entirely reasonable to have the bullet miss Marcos entirely- I think I commented in the post that aiming was "at best an inexact science." I'm primarily hoping to get across a sense of Salina's fighting style as being fast and furious (but somewhat reckless and risky), while giving Marcos plenty of attacks to dodge/block.

Speaking from experience with firearms, a .22 calibre bullet is only deadly if it hits a vital area. It's one of the smallest rounds available and is more commonly used for target shooting and small game hunting. Yes, it's also used in covert ops, but only because it's easily silenced and often quiet enough without a silencer. A .22 cannot pierce armor, of any sort, and has very poor penetrating qualities. Just sayin. :-P

Well, well, now isn't this interesting. Goshen is pretty much pulling his spires scattershot through the darkness, hoping they might skewer someone who's in there, but not really expecting that. From what I understand of Dajaal's aura, Goshen should be either just on the edge of it or several steps back from there. Either way, it's blocking a large portion of his vision, but he's not /in/ it.
