Hey all,

The EpicDuel team sat down today and discussed the policy of no longer buffing old gear, and realized that it was not the best way to go with the Dragon Buster sword from a previous Dragon*Con event.

The artists will be working extra hard to get out a new version of the Dragon Buster (the Dragon Buster 2), and both will be available during the event. The Dragon Buster 2 and the Slayer Armor will be part of the Promo, while all of the other Draconic weapons (including the original level 31 Dragon Buster) will be available in regular NPC shops.

Please keep discussion about this topic here instead of the DNs thread. Thank you.

Regards,
RabbleFroth

So are there non-var items in the dragon shop or still none?

I want to be happy about this because I think its a good thing,

But i also want to be selfish.

If they buffed the old sword, i wouldnt have to deal with enhancements since it is already enhanced, nor buying another package.

I kinda have to now.

I don't think it was so bad buffing an old items.

I don't think anyone would be mad if they buffed an item that you had....

Just something to think about. I guess I am excited for the new artwork and potentially stats

^ Yeah, trizzcentrinos's stuff is awesome.

@midnight assassin
I'm also hoping for some non-var items, I ran out of var ages ago and I still want to collect cool stuff from the events, as well as upgrading to a better non-var sidearm. ;)

Great! Good to hear they are doing this, but a few things Rabble. The Dragon Buster is from the event 2 years ago and its a level 31 weapon not 33! So are you are going to buff it after not buffing??

Edit: No problemo! Just wanted to make sure

You are correct! I was confusing them with last year's mutating set. Updated OP to fix that, thanks!

^ Since the old Dragon Buster is only lvl 31, how about it being sold for credits this year?

This is a great idea, RabbleFroth! I'm glad and proud of you all for taking this into consideration.

As a suggestion, please try and evaluate the usefulness of a physical sword in the current balance conditions. Sword builds, especially physical ones, are not too effective now, because of some major balance issues:

- Blood Mage - not only strong, but cheap to use in terms of amount of skill required. Blood Mages do not need or use swords.
- Massacre - too powerful compared with other ultimate skills. BH and CH hardly use swords because they would lose the Massacre advantage.
- Mercenaries & Tactical Mercenaries - too weak and even weaker with sword as primary.

Not starting a balance discussion, but rather pointing out the reasons why I don't think swords are particularly useful nowadays. I'm not saying not to release it, but think about balancing sword builds somehow with the others. Right now all effective builds rely on class-specific weapons.

Best Regards.

Ehh was looking forward to that awesome sword being buffed. I mean really guys, you said you were buffing the sword and now you're not? Just make the sword go rare and still keep the promise by buffing those from previous years. I'm really bummed out now. :/

@demon emporer
That is a great idean how about giving non variums a bit of love? And before I am flamed I am a lvl 34 varium bh, with a level 34 primary. How bout making it 22,500 credits this year? And anyway its lvl 31 it wouldn't make non variums OP at all. Rabblefroth, writing it down codemonkey?

I also think that making the original Dragon Buster non-varium would be a good idea.

When fully enhanced it would be 2 stat points better than any recent non-varium sword. Damage is a bit low for current standard, but that could also be adjusted.

And of course I don't think anyone expects big income from it by being sold as a varium item, since it is outdated.

This would be an interesting policy for the future - making other old limited items non varium, once they become outdated and unappealing for high level varium players. This would recycle good art and make items last for much longer.

^ Having Alpha and Beta stuff re-sold for credits would be cool. Would probably make all of those people who got the items for var a long time ago mad though... :/

Edit - Just wondering, is the new Dragon sword going to have the same art as the old one?

^ Yeah that's cool.

The sword looks fantastic, reminds me of the Infernal Slayer a bit as far as great art. ;)

Here is my issue with this:

I bought the Dragon Buster, and I enhanced the Dragon Buster.

Now I have to pay for a NEW Dragon Buster with updated stats, and updated art. The issue? Updated art. It looks almost identical to the weapon I purchased 2 years ago, aside from the fact that NW has refined his technique. When the eggzookas were released I had a similar dilemma. I had payed for for the art/stats of the auxiliary, and here was a seemingly identical weapon, just with better art, and better stats. I was so dissapointed at the time, I sent an email to EpicDuel Help. After a couple of emails back and forth this was the ultimate outcome:

quote:

Dear ****,

Thank you for your email. We spoke to the EpicDuel Team on your behalf. They very much appreciate your loyal support to the game and they do understand your concerns going forward. They did fulfill their promise that the original BunnyZooka weapons would remain rare, but they do understand your concerns regarding its similarity to the new EggZooka. The Bunnyzooka still adds value to your inventory's rarity score and it remains a highly unique weapon that will never be released again. Going forward, they state they will do a better job making sure weapons marked as rare remain more exclusive in their visual style.

Sincerely,
EpicHelp

Alright, so I know the Dragon Buster is a seasonal rare, but its the same issue. I feel like I already payed for this weapon, but I'm not allowed to have it, and in order to get it I have to pay more money, and enhance all the slots over again.

Its not fair, and every time they do this I feel a little bit betrayed. I think if they are not going to update seasonal rares, they need to have a better enhancement/upgrade system in place, otherwise your slapping all of your long-time customers in the face.

Sincerely,

Prophet

I do like that epicduel has remained true to it's word and not re-released this rare. Especially because the DB 2.0 looks really nice.

I'm a little confused though. I get the idea that the buster is a sword, and so obviously will not be mutating, but are the only class specific weapons being released the same as last dragoncon? I'm assuming this is kind of a quick-fix for bloodmages? They will now have the choice of being under-par for stats/damage or having firebolt. Overall thumbs up.
