Announcer: Another point for House Wolfblade! They've been dominating this competition so far! Can they continue their streak?
A shadowscythe mecha appears
Announcer: What the... ?
Announcer: Shadowscythe!?! How?!? ALERT! Cadets to battle stations - we've been breached! Where is security?!
Anastasia: Reports say the Shadowscythe disabled part of our defense grid. There's no time to investigate how...
Anastasia: ...but we think it was an inside job.
Security: ALERT! ALERT! SECURITY BREACH IN CORRIDOR B!
Xaria: Bring it.
Jaania: Casca, there's been another incursion, and I just lost contact with Xaria!
Casca: Understood! My team is headed there now!
Casca: Jaania, we're too late.
Valoth: Has she been prepared?
Minion: Yes my lord. See for yourself...
Xaria: ...My name... is Commander Xaria.
Xaria: I pledge my life to Lord Valoth ... AND THE GLORY OF THE SHADOWSCYTHE EMPIRE!!

Nigel: Welcome to the Gears Games. Competition between the houses is underway!

Nigel: The Wolfblade Members have fought hard, and their determination paid off!
Nigel: Runehawk and Mystraven gave great effort, but unfortunately fell short against the giants that are Wolfblade.

Betrayal
Nigel: Hmm... so you'd like to betray your house? Well, first you will have to choose a temporary allegiance with another house.
Allegiance
Nigel: Do not take this decision lightly, you will get banished from your house eventually!
How to betray?
Nigel: To Betray your house, you will need to fight against your current house in the Games Events.
Nigel: To do this, you may choose a different house to have your victories counted towards.
Nigel: When you defeat your fellow house comrades in battle, you may find Betrayal Tokens.
Nigel: If you find 100 Betrayal tokens, then you will be given Green Labyrinth Access.
Nigel: Then you must go through the labyrinth and defeat your own house leader.
Nigel: Then, you will be banished from your current house and allowed to join another.
Nigel: If you are banished from your house, you will not be permitted to rejoin.
Nigel: You may keep all House items and mecha from your previous house, but they will be useless to you after you betray.
Nigel: After you betray, you will be able to join any of the other houses. Just talk to the leader at GEARS University.

Nigel: House Wolfblade, Runehawk, and Mystraven are locked in fierce competition to prove who is the best!
Nigel: Wolfblade won the last tournament, but Mystraven and Runehawk have been growing at a rapid pace!
Nigel: Last year was also the unfortunate abduction of Wolfblade House Leader, Xaria by the Shadowscythe.
Nigel: This time round, we are allowing free agents into the games. So anything can happen!
Nigel: The events will consist of friendly mechball games as well as some 1 on 1 duels.
Nigel: We are also granting Green Access to the labyrinths for those who prove themselves worthy.
Nigel: The winning House will have a trophy displayed in their house.
Nigel: Let the games begin!

Commander Qor: You summoned me, Lord Valoth?
Valoth: Commander Qor, your assessment of Commander Xaria over the past year.
Commander Qor: Except for the Lagos invasion, she has been surprisingly effective.
Valoth: Agreed... I want more.
Commander Qor: My Lord?
Valoth: More like her, idiot. These GEARS commanders are far more useful with us than against us.
Valoth: Take some of the fleet and return to Soluna. The humans of GEARS University should be distracted with their pointless competition.
Valoth: Infiltrate and bring me the other two house leaders for conversion. And take Xaria with you. Her knowledge of the planet should prove useful.
Doom Lord: ...
Valoth: Is there a problem, Commander?
Doom Lord: ...no, my Lord.
Valoth: Then, what are you waiting for? Go!
Part 2 cutscene unlocked
Anastasia: <Character>, I've been looking for you. Come with me please.
Anastasia: Classified. You'll understand shortly.
Anastasia: Good. Now that everyone is here, we can begin the briefing.
Anastasia: A year ago, the Shadowscythe abducted one of our own, Wolfblade house leader Xaria. Today, we intercepted this transmission.
Xaria: All units, your orders...isolate and captu... house leaders alive. Any res... expendable.
Anastasia: Now we know why they're here, but more importantly, we know Xaria is with them. We can use this to our advantage. Jaania, if you would?
Jaania: As you may know, standard sensor equipment isn't powerful enough to detect one specific life form within a fleet.
Jaania: However, after consulting the Mechronomicon, and thanks to a few of Xaria's personal items, we were able to create a scrying matrix that employed-
Anastasia: Short version, Jaania.
Jaania: Oh yes, um... right. Short version is- we know exactly where to find Xaria. She is on the flagship, located here.
Casca: Which happens to be surrounded by patrols, sensors, and other defenses, making it almost impossible to reach without detection.
Casca: 'Almost' being the key word. Lucky for you, I've spotted a few holes in their net.
Casca: Gap's only big enough for one ship to get through, but with a little Mystraven stealth tech, you should be in and out before they know what happened.
Casca: Trust me, we Mystravens are experts at getting into things we're not supposed to.
Anastasia: Which brings us to Dean Warlic's plan.
Anastasia: I will be leading several squadrons to attack the Shadowscythe forces here, drawing their attention away from the flagship.
Anastasia: While the Shadowscythe forces are occupied, we will use the intel provided by Jaania and Casca to send a small force to Xaria's flagship.
Anastasia: <Character>, you record indicates you are ideal for this mission. Sys-Zero will fly close enough to beam your mech aboard Xaria's vessel.
Anastasia: Your mission will be to locate and subdue Xaria long enough to get her back aboard our ship.
Anastasia: Because we only have a brief window of time, you will be equipped with an automatic teleport beacon.
Anastasia: To prevent capture, it will activate after a set interval and transport you, and Xaria if you have her, back to our ship.
Anastasia: Everyone - take some time to prepare. You'll be alerted when the operation is a go. That is all.
