I'd be highly interested in working with others to create a superhero-centered roleplay. There would be a few rules and guidelines, and I might end up being a bit restrictive, so I'd like to discuss it all with you guys first. At first I was thinking about going the Marvel way, but I don't necessarily like how Marvel handles some of their things. DC is a bit more 'traditional' in my mind, so I was leaning more on that. Then I started to realize that maybe I should go my own route, but I am more than certain it has been before. My route would be a bit more subtle. Instead of majestic superheroes flying around the world and occasionally defeating supervillains, we would go on a more... 'subtle' route with a bit more realism. I would say Nolan's Batman Trilogy, Watchmen, Smallville, and Arrow are a few examples of what I am looking for. The setting would be modern-day, but we could visit flashbacks to explain backstories and origins. Characters can be born with powers or perhaps acquired them at a later time; some of them may not even be aware they have such powers; some may not even have powers. There have been 'urban legends' of these superhumans, but nothing concrete - as most of it is covered up by the government (which explains why these superhumans are not widespread or well-known). The story would see a 'team' of supervillains forming, and then a team of superheroes to oppose them, and then we'd go from there. I want to include a lot of mystery, intrigue, and deception, with many plot twists and whatnot. There would be all sorts of side-stories to pursue and we could have a multitude of stories branching off from each other.
