I recently had the inspiration for this change..
-change gun damage to scale with tech
-change robot to scale with dex

Gun scaling with dex added a huge bonus to the already powerful dex mages, while robot improving with technology only adds on to other skills.
I don't find this change to be a nerf, but rather a doorway to new builds.

Originally I was trying to find a way to bring dex mages back to their previous power, while also allowing tech abuse to be a viable option again..
so i thought "Why not make gun scale with tech?" but I realized that this would make f5 robot builds extremely OP, adding another big-hitting attack.
So then I wondered about the mechanics of a robot...scaling with dex.

All this will do is nerf both builds, if you need a doorway to new builds, sarcasm intended, change gun scaling to support, change aux scaling to str, change primary scaling with dex and robot with energy and then there will be a whole new doorway to new builds, how bout that?

Assuming this part WASN'T sarcasm..
-Gun w/ support = less cooldown for a support merc. (an already effective build)
-Aux scaling with strength...i actually like that one..but it would nerf support mercs to extinction
-Primary w/ dex....would make DEX mages the new "must have" build.
-robot scaling with energy...what?

Or we can return strength to what it used to be. We never had this problem when strength was normal.

If there was truly no problem with strength before, Then:

A) the forums wouldn't have been having all of these strength nerf threads.

B) The complaint threads wouldn't have been here.

C) This balance chance would have never went through due to no one having an issue with strength.

This is exactly why devs don't like to listen to player ideas anymore. It only satisfies one fraction of the community while failing to satisfy the other half. Yes they may have executed the change wrong and I'm not saying you were pro-strength-nerf before, but this kind of thing is why they don't listen to us as much anymore.

I think they should either make the bonus damage from focus barely affect bots, or just remove it entirely. Then fix strength up a bit (NOT revert it, do something more creative like come up with more skills that scale non-percentage-wise with strength and up the damage scaling a bit), and increase support. This makes it so that robots apply to tech builds the same way that guns apply to dex builds, but buffs support and strength to keep them relevant so that tank builds aren't the dominant class.

In all honesty though they need to make more variety of skills that scale with strength and support.
The only skill that actually increases in damage with strength is fireball. Every other skill, including %-based ones, actually don't scale with strength. They scale with nothing.

I think you just struck gold. I highly support that, and I made a suggestion a while back about having different robots scale with different stats..if thats even possible. Like infernal android could scale with tech, while assault bot might scale with dex.
And along with the strength scaling skills, fireball needs a serious buff because as of right now, it only does decent damage IF you put almost ALL of your stats into strength. Maybe to compensate for the extra damage, make it deflectable.

on to Penguin's suggestion..
Robot
Damage: 320-350(idk, somewhere in that range)
Scales with: Technology
Focus: +10 per focus level
______________________________________
strength
+3.75 per point (up from ~2.5)
---------------------
Strike does -25 damage every time you strike(NOT YOUR PRIMARY WEAPON ITSELF)
Fireball- increase scaling by 1.5 per point
Doublestrike- deals X + Primary damage
Bludgeon- ignores 25% defense, +X percent of damage
Cheapshot- lower energy cost by 10 at all levels
Berserker- Deals X,Y,Z damage, X and Y are blockable, Z is imblockable
_________________________________________________________________
support
Aux- +10 damage
increase scaling by 1 per point
Multishot cooldown to 1. Increase energy cost by 50.

No, lol... Not even... You'll have BM STR Spammers. MOB, intim, bludgeon, parasite, fireball. And plus...-damage every turn used is a REALLY BAD idea. Focus builds screwed in the long run, lol.

BM str spammers = another build to put into the pool of 'variety'
And if they are truly going to SPAM, then they can't regain energy (parasite has a 42 supp requirement at max).

Please elaborate on why you think -damage every turn is a "REALLY BAD idea".

Focus build? Screwed? Focus builds have a variety of moves they can use..easily countering anything, along with having a decent defense/resistance too they also do pretty good damage.
And this new robot build will keep robot damage about the same if you have f5, it just makes it to where robots are a viable damage source without the focus.

Of course parasite on 10 is 42 you freaking idiot. I wasn't born yesterday!!!
GHMFGNDDEFNJKILLLOPPKBCXAQWDBNEGMM,OPOHFBJTEDWWWDBHJIKK

Stupid because it doesn't make sense and It screws over focus builds at the end. BOT, AUX, GUN, STRIKE... 3 times -75 dmg=Automatic 30...

First off, please watch your attitude.
And you misunderstood the 'strike' concept..
it lowers your STRIKE damage everytime you STRIKE..
strike refering to the actual 'strike' button, not any move that does damage in combat.

Edit: so much for that (dis)accomplishment thread post, right?

My attitude is fine(hard to deal with people) and yes, I know it's the strike button.
Not raging, getting mad

All I'm saying is that we never had this problem when str was normal. It was way more fun. The balance changes also appeals to a fraction of the community especially since you guys are trying to get the game to change to focus. I'm being honest here guys. Strength wasn't the problem. Strike was. Next time fix the damn problem independently without affecting the entire game. Not everyone likes focus. Not everyone likes to stat spam. Not everyone thinks the game is better with those balance changes and not everyone sure as hell appreciates the game taking this turn. Youre killing diversity. There is only so much you can do with a focus build. I'm not even asking for a buff to str. Just return it back to normal and fix the damn problem independently instead of taking the easiest and WORST way out.

Right. Some people like focus, strength, support, dex, and tech builds, and when they get taken out of the equation, those people get mad.

Do you people not realize my original suggestion in the OP actually would have brought tech abuse back? without nerfing a f5 build, just switching its focus to dex skills.
