Come here to discuss the classes of AdventureQuest 3D! Talk about the combat mechanics of the six classes AQ3D currently has to offer: Warrior, Mage, Rogue, Guardian, Dragonslayer or Paladin.

Thread Rules

  • The =AE= Comprehensive Forum Rules and =AQ3D= General Discussion Forum Rules apply.

  • Be Respectful. Just because you disagree with someone's opinion does not mean you should go and offend that user. Move on if that subject matter does not suit you. If you cannot control your behavior, refrain from posting until you're able to do so.

  • Be Constructive. Constructive criticism is meant to improve something; not expressed through ranting, whining, or complaining. Any feedback offered must include the issue at hand and offer wordy feedback about what worked, what didn't, and what may have helped make it better. If you want to criticize, do so with the intent to give help, not tear down.

  • No OP/UP Discussion. Do not discuss subjects relating to "overpowered" or "underpowered", do not even mention OP/UP in this thread. What may seem overpowered to some players may seem perfectly reasonable to others. We realize that different classes can be prioritized in such a manner as to be beneficial to both instances. That does not mean that a class is imbalanced, but it means that it can be more beneficial to use it in another instance. The AQ3D staff will not release unbalanced strong classes in the game. Should there be such a case, it will be tweaked or mentioned upon release.

  • No Comparison Discussion. Any arguments relating to Free Players vs Guardians vs Dragon Crystals will not be tolerated. It has been clarified under the rules that such posts are not permitted.

  • No Suggestions. You may provide a skill tweak on a particular class, granted that you do not start suggesting the entire class revamp or skill set. Suggestions may be posted in the =AQ3D= Suggestions Thread.

With the stats and class changes come I really hope they'd buff Rogue a little bit or at least introduce something new where the class will thrive like PvP or boss hunting.

What Rogue really needs is a Crit Chance buff instead of a Dodge buff.

Sorry to practice necromancy but i have a few issues with the classes
+Stats. The stats descriptions are very minimal and misleading, for example, the stat attack is described as increases damage dealt to enemies but my 348 attack does not deal 348 damage or even 300 damage to any enemy. You could say that it is reduced by armor but i tested this against a Frogzard with 112 armor at least according to the AQ3D wiki and my auto attacks as a mage deals only 10-15 damage. You could also say that damage is empowered or lowered by evasion or some other factor but its not stated. In my opinion, its better to have lower numbered stats with its corresponding bonuses and effects in game like the stats in AQW rather than the big numbers with no clear meaning in AQ3D.
+Stats (again). The classes needs to have what I would like to call Base stats or stat bias like a warrior has a bonus towards his hp and armor but have reduced evasion and haste, this gives it a reason to pick this class over the other (which leads to the one below) and influence build paths so that there is diversity in builds not just getting the most op set in game.
+Class themes. 1) The mage is supposed to be the squishy but makes up for it in damage, but right now, the mage can tank almost the same amount of damage on par with a rouge and warrior before dying since there is no stat changes when switching classes. The mage kiting is nice but you could not do it further in the game (but i could be wrong) could be problematic if PvP comes into play.
    2) The rouge is like a "poison warrior" not the "squishy but bursty melee assasin". The poison trick sure is nice but again, the theme of the rogue (at least for me) is not utilized. Gonna post some suggested skills in the suggestions forum.
+Moar classes. Cuz why not? And where is my samurai at???

I know that making and maintaining the game is hard but it would be nice for the devs to listen to our suggestions and keep the game enjoyable and a memorable experience for everyone.

These numbers are a more accurate.
Update: Improved descriptions and factored in special damage.
Update: Provided more realistic Dragonslayer DPS.

    Dragonslayer: ~116-130 +dragon damage
    Rogue: ~125 + efficiency
    Warrior: 125.62
    Mage: 111.23 + range
    Guardian: 92.34
    Paladin: ~87 + utility
Warrior: The heart of a warrior is filled with great sustainable DPS. It's stronger than Rogue if fighting multiple enemies, and ideal for lazy adventuring.
    	41.671
    	28.75
    	23.125
    	9 (-10% armor: no effect?)(AoE)
    Total:	102.55
    Special: 450
    Total with special: 125.62

Mage: Range and stun courses through your veins. Your arcane abilities let you lure tough enemies, and do basically nothing else.
    	26.67
    	23.16
    	31.72 (+slow)
    	8.33 (+stun)
    Total:	89.88
    Special: 475
    Total with special: 111.23

Rogue: Rogue's base DPS looks identical to Warrior's because it's unsustainable. However, it has less overkill damage/cooldowns/animations and Weaken, granting increased efficiency across the board.
    	20 (+1 poison)
    	11.25 (+4 poison)
    	16.67 (+weaken)
    	7.5		(poison->heavy poison)
    Poison: 32 (8 stacks)
    HPoison:25.6 (8 stacks)
    Total:	113.02 (sustainable ~102)
Special: 250 (+8 poison and resets scorpion sting)
Total with special: 136.55 (sustainable ~125)

Guardian: Guardians are poorly trained soldiers in the war against grinding. Thes
    	32.5 (+1 mark)
    	22.5 (+3 marks)
    	21.95 (+focus)(3x damage with 10 marks?)
    	- (+heal)
    Total:	76.95
    Special: 400
    Total with special: 92.34

Dragonslayer: The Dragonslayer is a Warrior made for fighting tough enemies/bosses and dragons. It's even stronger than Warrior when fighting multiple enemies, too. It's Dragonlance attack also lures enemies. These numbers are boosted 15% when fighting dragons.
    	41.33
    	22.22 (ignore 50% armor+bonus damage: +67%?)
    	16.43 (+20%)(+silence)
    	11.11 (25 with bleed)
    Total:	91.09-123.15 (sustainable ~102)
    Special: 275-550	(AoE!)
Total with special: 103.61-157.02 (sustainable ~116-130)

Paladin: Low DPS but high utility makes the Paladin great for parties fighting bosses. I don't own this yet.
    	33.33 (39.81-42.59 with virtue)
    	25 (+undead damage)
    	3.33 (+heal)(AoE)(+0.111 virtue)
    	10.42 (+35% resistance)(+0.083-0.166 virtue)
    Total:	78.56-81.35
    Special: 175 (+stun)(+20% ally damage)
Total with special: 85.43-88.47 (doesn't include virtue from special, because I'm lazy and it's negligible)

Well the game so far is fine, but it's lacking when it comes to combat. And I would love to make suggestions for the greater good of the development of the game itself as it grows.

    Skill Tree
    Job tree

Well playing in between the current classes right now gets boring as you level up and get stronger, and sooner or later in the future if ever new classes will come, this old classes will rot. Adding some skill tree would be nice, wherein you can switch what skills you want to use ( or if can not, add some passive skills that buffs ) or maybe skill upgrade. And speaking of skill tree, It would really be cool if 2nd tier classes would come up. For example: Warrior, you can choose between 2 classes when you get to level 20 to upgrade 2nd tier class like Gladiator or Knight, then when you get to level 40, you can get to 3rd tier classes depending on what class you choose when you got level 20 or anything somewhat like that adding to the game itself would really be nice. It would really fill up the thought, on what players aim for playing through out the game and not just dressing up and looking cool. And not to mention, I can't wait till that PvP comes up to the game yeey!

^ If I recall right they said skill trees wont be a thing but they will add extra skills for ranking up classes so u can add them to your 4 skill slots. I think we need allocateable stat points so we can actually make tank, utility, and damage type builds. They will probably try to balance the old classes if they learned anything from AQWorlds

I'm very happy and hyped about the new combat changes and mechanics! It seems to be the right direction to go! :D

Specially the way monsters can be linked as a group. It will make dungeons so much more interesting, and the amount of challenges you can create from monster combinations will be almost infinite!

And as a Rogue player in pretty much every RPG ever, I'm really excited! I'm hoping the class becomes more practical to use, because in general there's little reason to use it compared to other classes. I see myself playing all other classes but this one, even though they're not my style.

EDIT: Dual-wielding will be awesome! I can't wait to finally have my character act and look like a true rogue! This may make it recognizable at a glance even outside of combat, no need to click on the player.
Ideally all classes could have some sort of distinct feature that makes them more easy to tell apart, like a suitable out-of-combat idle pose/animation for each class, for example.

Probably when they do the Doomwood revamp so I'd say probably sometime in late August (accordint to the latest design notes at least)
However keeping in mind the delays it might be well after September before the revamp is even released with at least ten more days worth of dailies to get them
