From the hompage:

Northern Expedition - Quest for the Frostgale Set:
For many years, passages to the far Northlands have been cut off by mysterious walls of magical ice. Blocking entire valleys, these walls have been a mixed blessing; reducing the raiding routes of Frost Titans, but also severing access to what remains of the attempts to settle in the North.

As one of the walls begins to crumble, your new adventure awaits! Uncover the mystery of the Lost Guardian Tower, face dangerous new foes, and begin your quest for the power of the Frostgale Set!

Limited-Time Shop - Malevolent Sorcerer and Sorceress Faces:

Don't miss out on these sinister cowls from a vengeful fairy!

I believe we need more moglins...... err, i mean Thread tagged! //D.U.M

Neat. Seems like ice/wind. What kind of armor do you think it'll be? Geocastellum set an interesting precedent for the yearly MC sets, maybe this will be a defensive set again.

I also hope for a FD set. I think the only FD ice set is the permarare Defender of Frostval Past. SO it would be good to have a permanent set available.

EDIT: duplicate threads. seems you and @Bu Kek Siansu posted at the same time.

Looking forward to this, though... Wow, MC Set coming now? And apparently on a 2-part quest? This means Mogloween will be very near the end of October... I wonder if this means no Dracopyre update this year... Hopefully it doesn't! >.<

Frostval… with Mogloween going on?
*Hears caroling off in the distance**Looks over the horizon**Armies of Frost Moglins riding those fuzzy green things armed with candy weapons**Toy soldiers, decorated pine trees, Pere NoFlesh**Frostval cheer spreading, snow covers the ground, everyone wearing sweaters and sitting around fireplaces happily drinking hot chocolate*
No... we were supposed to have more time!
Anyways, interesting bit of lore regarding the Northlands. Would've liked to know about the walls years ago just to build up the mystery, but looking forward to finding out the cause and what lies beyond regardless.

So... A White Walker set? I'm totally down for that. If I had to guess, a defensive set with darkness secondary and a freezing gimmick? Or maybe something to do with necromancy? Eagerly awaiting to see what the staff have cooked up for us!

P.S. Is this a Cray release?

Seems like an Ice/Wind FD set. Looking forward to it. Maybe we will finally get a 100% Ice magic weapon.

No padoru to be had yet, I'm afraid. This set is called Frostgale, not Frostval. You'll be learning more about the name as you brave the forgotten dangers of the Lost Guardian Tower. Some legends are perhaps best forgotten. Some desperately want to be forgotten.

Kaze no you ni~

Edit: *cwies* Cray replied before I could make the chain keep going... T.T

Edit 2: That said, I'm very curious about the forgotten legends thingy, looking forward to this release~
Especially because Yearly MCs usually don't amount to much story-wise... Seems like this one will be more interesting than most others~

Lost Guardian Tower... I'm getting DF vibes.

Btw, is DF lore considered canon in AQ? Like, the whole Guardian Towers being created to protect the Orbs thing?

Actually, have we ever seen another Guardian Tower in AQ outside of Battleon?

The AdventureQuest and DragonFable timelines have some parallel historical events, certain common metaphysical laws, and even what you might call connections. However, while you may see elements of one affect the history of the other, they are ultimately incompatible in story and lore. Events that occurred in one location in one Lore may have occurred elsewhere or differently, if at all, in the other.

It would be quite nice to get some aq canon Guardian lore in that case. As always, you can rely on Cray to fill in the blank spaces.

Also, Northlands!

Heavy Game of Thrones references in the description. From the ice wall to the abandoned tower to the ice dragon.
Will the actual set be a disappointment like season 8?

That might be a risk if there were such references, but they're purely coincidental.

I honestly hadn't even noticed the similarities until Kurtz pointed them out, but I'm glad they're coincidental~

We still need a (good) F2P FO Wind armor, preferably one that can nuke, *cough*. While FD options are usually lacking, RDR is a seasonal FD Ice armor that will be back in December and Chilly Form is available year-round in the Rare GGBs as an alternative. FO Ice isn't necessarily bad either, given how the Dessert set, while decent, is aesthetically a gag set. If nothing else, Ice/Wind would also serve as an inadvertent foil + parallel to War-Torn Zhilo. :o Kinda curious if we'll ever see a compression weapon or -26% shield with an effect, or that would be deemed "too OP'd"... Here's hoping!

We did get -26% shields with effects before. Osiris shield is -26% for example, and I think most of the Champion Set shields are too.

As for Compression weapons... Compression is a MC Effect on its own, so it can't really have more than that usually. Though it can always pay damage for an effect, Tsunami Pen already did that before, so it's not unheard of.

Compression -26% shields w/ effects is what I meant. Most single-element shields released nowadays have to have an effect and be -26% just to be competitive, but I don't recall any compression shields having an effect outside of, like, obscure Shadow-related ones, possibly. Hell, I'd definitely consider running a -25% compression shield with an effect.

As for compression being an MC: nah. That hasn't been the case in a very, very long time. Melee/Magic and/or elemental toggles are almost a given nowadays, with the actual MC being independent of them. Trouble is, most of these MCs are the boring, generic +5% damage/+5 BtH ones instead of interesting, unique ones.

Bac-ler is a 25% compression shield with a secondary resist in both forms.

Also, 26% compression shields generally do NOT have additional mc effects. Let's look at what we have:

-War-Torn Heirloom
-Firework Buckler
-Gemini Shield
-Cerberus Ward
-Sinmaw's Shield

That's it. We really don't have any more 26% Compression Shields (I think there is a Gemini clone, forgot the name). Among these, only War-Torn Heirloom has a trigger, paid for with a downtrigger. However this is not a mc effect and is more of a negative effect than a positive.

@I Overlord I I think you're confusing things a bit, Melee/Ranged/Magic toggles are considered free bonuses nowadays, but element toggles are still compression and still pay the MC and Extra gold to compensate for it.

Lolerster brought a good point though, you can still get a trigger in a compression item, as long as it still gets a downtrigger that is. (since trigger + downtrigger is also considered a free bonus, while Trigger without downtrigger is considered a MC bonus)

Imo, 26% compression shield is a lot more useful than most mc effects than when you are using just 1 or 2. 1 compression shield lets you use a CIT and a 25% no drop shield. 2 compression shields lets you have a 26% shield in every element, CIT and a multi element no-drop shield (the AWE!!! variety gives -14% to all elements, making it slightly better than single element shields against dual element attackers, and much better if they consistently use more than 2 elements).

Is there any info on if this will be a 1 week or 2 week quest? Also extra items?

Do the extra items (ancient regalia, bass stuff, scarb set) also count as MC items? Can they be upgraded in the item manager?
