Hi all,
I've been playing Adventure Quest RPG since... idk, almost 18 years?
Not in a daily basis, but on a nostalgic come and go relation.

Today i have farmed some... tons of xp/gp and something that never happend to me came in: XP/GP LIMIT.

lol why?
I mean seriously, why?
"to prevent cheaters from bla bla..." this is like a single-player game, right? I see no major effect to the overall game on strong grindings...
Oh and whats the problem on strong grindings? Thats a pretty famous and applied gamestyle, the XP/GP limit method only limits the experience for grinders, so it doesn't feel like a "protective way" or "smart solution" for the "strong grinding issue" (which doesn't seem much like an issue).

So please, let me know what I'm missing here, and if more people are discontent with this method we can reunite and try to change this situation, because we are the players of the game and we surelly can have an opinion on such limitant restriction.

Thank you very much, all replies are very welcome!

This limit has been around for ages, and if you really want around it one solution is to buy tokens as it resets your limit. Personally I don't really strive to hit my cap outside of warring for items for a certain amount of kills or something but even then I have to strive for that. Granted that same thing also protects your placement in the wars as someone can't just grind without limit to beat you normally. Donation Gold drives are also sort of protected for that reason although the interactions between other players is pretty limited aside those listed examples. So for me it really doesn't matter if it comes or goes but it did at least have a decent reason when it was first added in back when cheating was a more common thing. Granted these are just my thoughts but sure others might have something new to add if only their own thoughts on the Xp/Gold cap as it stands now vs 2005.

It's a necessary mechanic to avoid rewarding hackers and prevent excessive gaming. In practice, the limit is high enough that casual gaming will never get you close to it. The only way to reach the limit within a reasonable amount of time is to farm specific spots with abnormally high rewards. The leveling and farming guides on the wiki will help you reach those limits, and the powerleveling guide will let you break those limits (the limit only applies after you've reached those limits, so the rewards from the last monster you fight before you hit those limits will still apply. The powerleveling guide specifically uses monsters that give rewards that are multiple times higher than the limits at the levels it recommends).

The limits have been raised relatively recently, and they're more than high enough that you won't reach them unless you're actively trying to. If you're trying to get the limits removed, you're definitely not going to be getting support from me. That's a massively fundamental change to the game that would involve a ton of thankless work from the devs. Most players at max level can easily reach the inventory gold cap, so there's no real need to farm after that. Removing the caps does nothing for most players. It also actively goes against my own opinions on the time-consumption of warring.

Thank you all for your response, i've read them and refined my toughts about this matter.
The only REAL two reason I can observe for Cap limit exist is to play another Artix games when you reach the limit, or to pay more cash.
If there are monsters that give too much XP, then nerf the monsters, don't cap the player.
If its healthy to play for many hours or not, thats completely my choice of execution, I should not be limited by the game itself, that is my decision.

Also if the XP/GP limit is for health and to avoid hackers, then why when a purchase is made the CAP is reseted? That is clearly a way to proffit limiting your gameplay. So being a guardian or a guardian-X (my case) its not ENOUGH. The ONE-TIME pay its just a makeup for "oh, you reached the XP/GP limit and the limit is huge, obviously YOU are playing too much and OUR monsters doesn't need nerf, now try dragonfable!".

In fact this is a way to profit limitating the player experience, otherwise token-purchase wouldn't reset the CAP, rite?
So no one is really caring about help, its money, folks.

I stand for the XP/GP removal as a disrespect to grinding gameplay and dirty tactics to make me play another Artix games or to apply more deposits for wider XP/GP limits.

Package item purchases resetting caps has been a controversial thing for quite a while now. I don't think it should exist, as it has caused problems in certain competitive events with players gaining an advantage by paying money.

The caps exist to keep players from reaching the max level in a single day, something that is very possible nowadays with certain leveling methods. They also serve to limit players for the few competitive events in the game, putting everyone on an at least somewhat fair baseline. Again, in practice, playing normally will get you nowhere near the caps. If you are feeling limited by the caps, you are almost certainly going about the game at a pace that the staff does not intend.

Again, for the sake of a very temporary benefit on your end, you want the staff to completely change a fundamental part of the game. Caps have existed in the game for so long that many things are balanced around them. Removing them would break so much, and for what? As I've previously stated, at a certain point, most players are not bound by the caps in the slightest, as they have more gold than they could possibly spend while not needing any more exp due to hitting the level cap. For most, this would be a completely pointless change.

Thank you very much for your response, it was very clarifying!

If the case is that much of the game resides around the lazy cap solution then I have other suggestions:

- Remove Cap Reset after Z-Token purchases (or any purchase related to reseting this nonsense).

- Nerf XP/GP centers such as monsters that give alots of XP that I don't recall the name.

- Increase the XP/GP Cap considerably.

---------------------------------------------

Even with those possible solutions I still feel that the cap has a direct profit intention to pay for more gameplay or to play other Artix-related games while Cap happends.

Also i raised from lvl 60 to 65 and reached CAP limit (Guardian-X). I don't think thats too much, do you?

And Pun-isher

Old as the standard may be, caps do not exist for a lazy profiteering mindset, and certainly not for the purpose of being reset when a token package is purchased. The sole reason why this results in a reset is not needing to wait until the next reset to earn rewards when taking freshly acquired gear for a spin -- It's strictly there as a quality of life, and was very explicitly made to no longer factor into any standard wars.

Two further counterpoints:

  • Contrary to what the most recent post portrays, gameplay itself is not being locked away while a character is capped.

  • The different games have teams that are wholly independent of each other, so it would be counterproductive for any of us to actively signal our players to stop playing our respective games.

In addition to all of the other clarifications in this thread, though, I will note that we're taking notes on needed quality of life updates. The leveling experience is a major point of community feedback in this endeavor, and I'm hoping we can present improvements accordingly when these begin rolling out.

Thanks for some clarifications, but there are some questions that doesn't seem very coherent to me yet:

    - If a reset is made when tokens are purchased with the purpose of enjoying rewards with fresh new equipment, then nothing stops me to "adquire" a new fresh equipment everytime I reach the CAP, right? So as someone else said that is possible to reach MAX lvl in a day following powerfarming guides, I just need to calculate how many CAPs will happend along the way and price it on how many fresh equipments are needed for MAX lvl in a day, right?
Thats the meaning of P2W for me, no solution presented and still sounds profit-intended. I stand my position to expand CAP considerably or remove CAP reset after a purchase (better would be the 2 of them in action), or nerf the XP-dragons and stuff.

    - I am very sure it would be contraproductive to any of you to actively signal players to stop playing your games, thats why there are other 7 ready-to-launch AdventureQuest themed games. Teams are independent but playing one game can reward you on the other one. Now tell me what a better timing to try DragonFable when AQ reaches the CAP? Different teams, but still connected into the bigger panorama.

    - I understand that is still possible to complete quests, raise classes levels and many other in-game activities even when the CAP is so sadly achieved. But so many things in the game deppends on XP/GP accumulation that "other possible stuff to do" kinda kills the taste.

I am very serious when I thank you for the responses, my argumentation may sound LETS WAR like but thats just my argumentative style. I respect you all and i'll accept all the answers and orientations you can give me on this subject. Still I have to be honest that all the arguments pro-CAP doens't seem very coherent so far.

Casual playing doesn't allow for easy reaching of the gold and xp caps within the allowed time in a daily reset so often the cap is often not even seen by a player. Current cap ain't a problem.

I see there are no other responses for almost any of my arguments.

I would like to request us players to open a vote pool to remove GP/XP Daily or to expand the limit.
I pretty much think this is going nowhere, but sorry Artix team, I don't see any substancial argument to sustent that limit, doesn't matter if its bennefical of not. Its just profit intended.

Thank you all for the discussion and I really hope this topic helps opening a vote pool or any some sort of transformation.

I will be later on posting on YouTube a P2W Powerfarm to prove my point here.

    Thanks again!

    .*. .*. .*.
    Pfft hahaha!

    @dolstoi420

While I do understand your concern and it it is tougher to level up quickly in the later stages, I would like to ask you, why the rush?
Try to enjoy the game as much as possible, because when you hit max and you have refined your character's inventory, you will most likely end up leveling a new character, so the issue you are having with xp/gold gains will still remain.

However if you can't wait and have a lot of spare tokens and you think it's worth it, you can buy golden giftboxes and you just buy the mystery scroll of learning to gain massive amounts of XP, especially at higher levels. There is no faster way of leveling but it comes at a high cost.

This discussion just gave me a flash of how difficult it was in the old days to level up, at the higher levels it took 4 days to gain 1 level, but in some twisted way I enjoyed it.
