What are your thoughts on the revamped Eternal CHampion set?

On a personal level, I'd have preferred the weapon-based skill sacrifice damage for a strong Choke rather than compete with the second skill in damage and gain Choke as a minor extra - but that's just my own preference.

Spellcaster lean and mp cost for the other skill, on the other hand, are a massive improvement. FO mages finally get a good armor that's neither UR nor seasonal!

What are your thoughts?

Do you agree? Does your own opinion differ?

Do you have something to add?

I think it's fine. The toggle to armor lean is a nice addition. I liked it as it was too and the one issue of the skill being melee locked was resolved.

The "skill" on the weapon isn't a skill, it's a toggle.

That said, it's better than the trigger it used to have, it complements the armor skill's choke rather than compete with it.

My only issue with the set isn't actually an issue with the set itself, it's that fall Dryad is better for my spellcaster mage at the moment because we're sorely lacking in armor element compression on that front.

EDIT: Ok, I lied I do actually have an issue. The void burn has never made sense with the rest of the set effects, sure it's neat and all but it bothers me in terms of item design because the rest of the set has no interaction with void or burn in any capacity and it never did. I really don't see why it was kept.

@ Dreiko

I was talking about the armor's weapon-based skill, not the weapon itself.

Though I do agree that we need more compression spellcaster armors.

@ sysrq

Twilly -> Anniversary Events -> Storm of the Century -> Destruction and Renewal

I don't see the issue then. The armor's skill has always been choke infliction and it wasn't part of the proposed changes to have it not be that only that it shouldn't be type locked to melee.

EDIT: I had a think, I was applying only spellcaster lean to this issue. I see the problem now in FO lean, mea culpa.

I still don't really have an issue with the weapon-type skill doing full damage and paying extra SP for the choke when the 3rd skill is always spell-type (with its inherent issues in FO lean), but yeah personal preference. In spellcaster lean there really isn't any competition in damage.

While I am reeling from the loss of the efficient cost, I am saying that overall, the rework has been a success, from the weapon having a choke toggle (Very good addition for the weapon to synergize with the set), the type locks being gone and the lean change. I'd say that this set is now a success. Thanks AQ Team!

The rework for the armor/weapon is 100% fine. Change nothing. The weapons choke stacked with the armors choke is not bad, and the sp heal mitigates the sp cost add on. It's kind of not even really there if you use the full set, which you probs should be doing.

Yeah the void burn is soert of out of left field, but I view it as an add on really. No issues from me.

Nitpicky ppl!!

So the weapon has a toggle right? Cause I try clicking on it and the only point to click is the M/R/M toggle.
Where to click?

Click the blade to toggle the Choke, handle to toggle MRM

Personally I'm loving the rework for both the armor and the weapon. The armor is now usable by basically any build and I will finally be replacing Fortune Thief in my loadout. While the Choke isn't as good as StarSlayer's, it is still pretty usable. I also think the overcharged skill should do a tad bit more damage. The weapon is also pretty nice and I really dig the Void Burn! Nice and strong, exactly how a 20th Anniversary set should be like :)

It's already the strongest earth element skill in the game, outperforming both terra bloodzerker and geomancer bloodmage, unless you're only doing it in FO lean, which doesn't do anything for spell-type skills (directly as a lean at least, it does affect elecomp which is an indirect bonus).
