Ok wow i've finally had time to play it and i have to say Dove, Verly and the rest of the team are absolutely killing it with these amazing quests these days. spoiler:
First of all it was totally random but a nice personal quest. It was nice to see Riadne after many many years, i noticed we didn't get to meet with Isaac and little Tomix, i hope they are fine and we get to meet with them next time. I guess Riadne likes to separate work from family, can't blame her. I remember one thing i didn't really liked in the Tomix saga (well other than Tomix dying of course) was not really seeing Riadne's full potential, she was more like a plot device and damsel in distress. Well looks like it changed, i dunno if she always was this skilled with spiders or she trained in these years but her powers are really amazing. I mean controlling deadly spiders is one thing (RIP Grams) but using them to go in your dreams/mind (whatever it was) is crazy and kind of OP. I mean she could go into the minds of all kind of unconscious people and villains and talk to them, get informations out of them or just inform them about what happening in the real world. I wonder would it work on Jacek's father who is frozen by enchanted ice? Or on the people on Maar who is in sort of a limbo state i guess? Arachnomancy is really interesting and i hope in the future we see more of it. Maybe if not as a class (which would be amazing) at least learn more about it, see it in action. There has to be others other than Riadne using it right? I hope the hero mentioning her exhausted appearance is not a foreshadowing, for all the good she's doing she needs to rest a bit and chill with Isaac and Tomix a bit. Go to picnic with them and of course rest a lot. Although i have to say Riande suddenly building an orpahanage and helping kids wasn't in my 2024 DF bingo list but i'm not complaining. I can't help but find this quest so wholesome even with the crazy twist at the end which was mind-blowing and didn't see it coming. Still the reunion with Riadne, the hero going on a adventure with Myshka and visiting and helping out (another) orphanage, it just brought a smile to my face (well at least until the reveal ). The very end with the hero praising Riadne was really well done and heartwarming, i guess she really needed to hear that. We really need to look out for our friends huh. Myshka is already an interesting character, i'm sure we will learn more from her and her condition later on. Immediately Piotr came to my mind but her soul is intact and her mind and body is more or less ok. I wonder if it's just her or other people have the same problem as well. Could be a curse, disease, maybe some kind of special power affecting her? I don't remember if a previous quest already used this feature (probably) but i loved Myska in the back narrating our adventure, it was cute. I noticed how much different monsters we've had in this quest, some of them i long forgot (like the VurrMen), i thought it was cool to see more variety instead of just the usual monsters like slimes or skeletons. The boss was ok, not too difficult (after all there's the difficulty option for that) and not too easy (it's no fun). The close up of Riadne and her humour was nicely done. In fact i can't think anything bad about this release, well maybe one small thing:it would've been nice to see other kids in the orphanage or Isaac and Tomix, the orphanage felt like a bit empty IMO. I hope later on the orphanage kind of get added to Ravenloss and we can visit it freely (just like the nest too). Sadly with all the DOOM, dragons, bandits and other threats i guess there's a lot of orphanes who needs help. I have to say big story quests/wars are always fun and i guess a main priority but i love these random chilling personal quests. It's nice to see the hero saving Lore and fighting evil but it's just as nice to see them visiting and helping out their friend/people on Lore. Just like the end credit told us sometimes the smallest actions can be the most important ones. I'm all for more quests with the hero visiting their friends (whether they are alive or dead), i mean the hero have quite a lot of friends these days and we haven't saw some of them in a looooong years. Maybe it's just me but i get the feeling we get more personal quests this year than any other year, most of the time we meet our friends in war or a big story quest in which we didn't exactly had the luxury to chat much so it's nice to just chill a bit and talk to them without fearing that the world would end in any second. Kudos for whoever wrote and animated/coded this quest, it was well done.
