Already an impressive line-up of potential competitors I see.

I wonder kenzoku; have you considered how useless two of Russel's abilities would be in the Cellar arena?

I was able, I simply refrained from entering. Admittedly I may need to bow out this year if this runs later than I'm hoping it does, but I've already cleared that with Kell. For now I intend to savor the sweet taste of my opponents' blood.

@Beebote: I see this debate could actually be a great venue to build in character depth for both of our characters. To add, rivalries which spring up in these instances often add to the plot as well as drive growth in both of our characters.

Name: Hass Rivera
Element: Dark
Race: Rjyt (appears human, with a few differences... see below)

First post

Appearance: Hass stands at about 5'7", with an athletic build... but of course that's to be expected of a competent practitioner of martial skills. It's the rest of him that's odd: pure white skin, the kind you'd expect to see on a porcelain doll or a white-washed wall, jet-black hair, which has been left largely uncared for... and eyes that defy the norm: the whites are black, the pupils white, and the iris non-existent. On his neck, spreading from jaw to right shoulder, is what appears to be a tattoo of a cat-pupiled eye loaded with tendrils, rendered in pure black on white skin.

Attire: Rivera wears, in battle, a light chain-mail shirt; not a full suit, and a great deal lighter than a full suit, and therefore less of a strain on the body. It covers his torso, his shoulders, and the upper arms. His forearms are covered by steel guards, rather than a full chain sleeve. His trews are plain and undyed, his thighs, shins, and calves guarded by steel plates, once again leaving large portions of flesh unguarded in favor of mobility. Sturdy leather boots provide good traction and a measure of foot protection.

Weapon: a single, sturdy staff of metal-banded dark wood.

Shadow: A Rjyt's Shadow is both their greatest defense and greatest weapon. Hass' is not fully developed, but it is still potent, and he has spent a great deal of time training it. He is able to channel it through his staff, transforming the simple length of wood in whatever staff weapon he desires, and playing havoc with the idea of how far a weapon should reach. Secondly, he is able to form into a Partial Cloak, creating a physical shield where he might need one. Finally, he can perform a Full Cloak by sacrificing any physical integrity his Shadow has, thus gaining access to the Shadow warp: he can transport himself from one shadow to another.

Background: Hass Rivera has no Elemental Patron. He is no atheist, but he serves no Lord. Until recently, this was fine. His own personal power was enough for him to survive, and to make a living. But within the past few years, Rivera's goals have extended beyond the personal, and his martial prowess, while considerable, has proved inadequate.

So, he has hatched an ambitious plan: He will win the Elemental Championship, garner the attention and patronage of one of the Eight Lords, and use the Champion's Boon to accomplish his goal. What is that goal? Well. That would be telling.

Kenzoku, I do have a question about your character's regenerative capabilities that I would like clarified. You give the example "troll-like." Does this mean that the regeneration can be nullified by fire and acid? Also, what are the limitations of the ability? How long does it take to heal, can he do it indefinitely in direct sunlight, does it still work if he's in shade, but still under the sun? Also, does the regeneration have a limit to the severity of the injury it can heal? I'd be a little leery if he could regenerate entire limbs or, like a troll, his own head after a decapitation.

Appearance
: Ember stands at a height of four inches, and weighs just enough to be noticed. Her hair is a fiery orange, layered to reach to her shoulders, and from the shoulder blades stretch four wings, like those of a dragonfly. Their span is longer than she is tall, and at rest they diffuse light into a rainbow of colors, while in motion they move faster than the eye can follow. Her proportionally slim, agile body is covered with a shirt and skirt of crimson dragonscales, taken from the tail of the fire dragon she serves, each enchanted to be weightless so that they do not hold her down.

Practice
: Ember has been imbued with the essence of the elder fire dragon, Morkengraamir. His essence grants her power over fire. While fairies, particularly Ember's lost tribe, have a considerable capacity for magic, this capacity does not touch the level needed to fully manifest the great drake's flame. Thus is his essence restrained, allowing her access to a measure of it, but by no means does she draw from his full power. Still, continuous use of flame is no issue, and more often than not the fairy is continuously wreathed in a swirl of fire.

In practice, Ember is a firedancer. She will use her flame to mislead and confuse opponents, including clones made of flame and streaks from herself to any of these clones. These clones and streaks double as weapons, as she can direct her flame to strike at a foe, searing flesh and igniting cloth. Indeed, to underestimate the small avatar would be folly.

While she can manifest her flame by drawing from her master's power, she can also use his power to draw in nearby flame, either replenishing a portion of her own lost energy or directing it as a weapon in conjunction with her own flame. While only certain flames can harm her flesh, she can not use fire to heal.

Background: Exactly one hundred years ago, the great fire dragon, Morkengraamir, having reached elder status, decided that extensive travel was perhaps not a wise thing to continue. Many would seek his guidance, but at least as many would seek his death, for the head of an elder dragon is no small prize. And so, in order to provide the guidance his followers and past comrades required, the great drake required a servant; an avatar to carry out his will.

However, to create an unthinking servant was an act considered by the dragon to be evil. The solution to his need came in the form of Ember. A young fairy whose tribe had been recently wiped out, she wandered aimlessly, and as she stumbled into his den, he found her on the brink of death. The dragon took pity upon the tiny creature, offering her nourishment and rest, and as he learned of her plight, a new purpose.

He offered to her a gift; the gift of fire. In exchange for this gift, her asked that she form a bond with him; an unbreakable bond of willing service and devotion. Given his kindness, and with no true purpose besides, she accepted; thus, the bond was made.

Being that Morkengraamir is a servant of the Lord of Fire, and she a servant of the great dragon, she considers herself a servant of his Lord as well. Thus, she enters the Elemental Championship, hoping to win the favor of the Lord of Fire, not only for herself, but for her master.

I believe Ember must be one of the smallest contestants the EC has ever seen, Krey. Well done on the character. It'll be interesting to see how you do with her.

Also, Kell, I couldn't help but notice that you used my character's full name in your list of accepted characters. That's FAR too informal. Please, call him Not-As-Big-As-Medium-Sized-Jim-But-Bigger-Than-Wee-Jim Jim. It'll be much more pleasant all around that way. Formality hurts my head.

The scoop is such: it can only take as much magical elemental energy as a mage could dish out in the form of damage spells or enchantments or whatever else. So if it ever gets unbalanced: it's totally not my fault, blame the mage.

The only place where I can see where it'd be an issue is if the guy went on to the finals and tried to scoop a pillar. But if that happens, then you can just have the respective Lord smack him around if he takes too much (I'd go "if he takes anything", but I remember the pillars were used as a backup energy source by entrants every once in a while).

Oh, and it does have the rather clear limitation of having to be in contact with the spell cast - if it's a projectile spell, he has to catch it, if it's a sort of spray from a point, he'll get more of it the closer to the initial source he gets, if it's a diffuse mist spread over a large area, he has to wave that scoop of his around for quite a bit to actually clean that up. If it's a summoned creature or item, or an enchantement to an item or bodypart, the scoop must come in contact with that too, possibly multiple times if the item/creature in question is large.


Niksab has a very, very specialised role - that is, making mages cry - and very little else. No fancy acrobatics, no secret abilities that kick in as he's about to die, nor an array of spells that have effects beyond "fling elemental damage". And I want him to be good at that one thing he does. Please don't make me go "Oh no! The scoop has been overloaded with power and is now going to self destruct even though said power didn't do squat to the mage it was contained in just a few seconds ago!"

Race: Human? Not sure if he qualifies, but as far as anatomy is concerned, he is as human as anyone else.
Alignment: Wind.

Brief Description: Lean, slender, and not the kind of person you expect to lift something heavy. He looks as close to wind as is possible for a humanoid.
Hair Color: White. Not elegant, elf white. Ugly, old-person white.
Hair Type: Wispy, sticks out in several random directions. Looks like it could blow away with the wind.
Skin Tone: 15 on the Von Luschen scale.
Eye Color: Green.
Voice: He rarely talks, but when he does, he sounds like a normal person in his twenties.
Height: 6'2''
Weight: 130 lbs.
Armor/Clothes: A white cloak, grey shirt and grey pants. Nothing fancy added on, although he has three knives and a vial of poison in his pockets, specifically for the arena.

Why is he/she at the Arena/EC?: Because it's combat, and it seems like the perfect chance to please his lord. He has never received acknowledgement from the wind lord, and seeks it now.

Belongings/Inventory
Primary Weapon- Volude carries a bow crafted from the wood of a mighty elm, and painted a brilliant white. His arrows are smooth and made for attaining maximum speeds, and at the range of 20 ft., they can pierce the average chest of a man.
Secondary Weapon- A short, 1 ft. blade that has a sheath attached to his bow. This allows for shooting, followed by a quick melee attack.
Other Weaponry- Three knives, and a vial of lethal poison.

Fighting Style- Stealth, followed by shooting. He likes analysis of his opponent, and will change his methods when needed.
Abilities- An increase in speed and agility is a side-effect of his devotion to wind magic. He also has the ability to send small but strong gusts of wind at your opponent. He can do this ten times within a short span of time without side-effects, after this he become tired in a matter of seconds upon using this skill.
His "Ace in the hole" would be his stealth skill. After a thirty-second period of focus, he becomes no more visible than the air. In this form, he can perform no physical attacks whatsoever, and is only revealed in certain conditions. Bright light will reveal a vague outline, rain reveals him completely, use of any non-attacking magic within 20 feet of him will reveal him. He can fly and move around in this form. Maintaining this form has no side-effect.
Strengths- Stealth, Archery, as well as some skill with swordplay.
Weaknesses- Direct combat, any other weapons, magic.
Anything else worth noting- No history, could add one if needed. He believes in the lord of Wind as the dominant lord, as air is needed for life. He will gladly kill someone who openly defies his belief.

The Grand Entrance of Cassivo

Brazziks (Abilities): A species of beings that are basically humanoid in shape and size, but with marked differences. The most noticeable of these is the exoskeleton of bony protrusions covered with biometallic skin. The protrusions are most prominent on the forearms, knees and the ridge that crowns their heads, but there are smaller protrusions scattered throughout their body. All of the protrusions are connected by thin filaments of their skin, creating a lattice pattern right above their skin.

Brazziks have two life cycles, the first which lasts between five or ten years, and the second which lasts another seventy to ninety years. During the first life cycle, Brazziks grow at a fast rate, eating and hunting like an animal, their entire life dictated by predatory instinct. When they have finished growing, it dies. The second life begins with the gift of the Energy Lord, who bestows upon the creature a current of energy which becomes their life force. This current begins in the brain, initializing the Brazziks sentient life, which develops after that. The skin and protrusions carry the energy to the different parts of their body, allowing them to move and function, and also serving as a dangerous weapon to be utilized. The Brazzik’s internal systems replenish the energy at a steady rate, but cannot keep up with the amount needed to sustain life, so the total amount is slowly but constantly decreasing. Those who do a lot of fighting in their lives should expect a shorter life span than those who do not.

In the formative years of the Brazzik’s second life, they learn how to first balance the energy throughout all parts of their body, so that they can function as a normal being. Then, when they have mastered that, they learn how to overload limbs by draining the energy from other limbs, leaving them inert. Doing this allows them to increase the speed and power of the limb they are overloading. Finally, when they have gotten a handle on this ability (very few of them ever master the overloading process), they learn how to channel the energy into biometallic weapons made from the corpses of fallen comrades and other foci, and use them to manipulate and release the energy that is coursing through their bodies.

Appearance: Cassivo is 6’6” tall and weighs 235 lbs. He has dark green eyes and is covered in dark grey skin. He has no hair on his body, but there are several loose filaments which are wrapped around the protrusion coming from his head. Three of the filaments wrapped around his crest are dyed a bright yellow color in honor of great battles he has won. He was born with large protrusions on both knees and on his right arm. The protrusion on his left arm was damaged during the early stages of his first life, and so never grew with the rest of them. Energy is coursing constantly through his body, and can be seen leaping from filament to filament all over his body.

Weapon: A scythe formed from the left over protrusions of several of his siblings that never made it out of first life. This can be wielded by him, or attaches to the protrusions that cover his back. He also possesses a small metal medallion which he can use as a focus to store, manipulate and release energy.

Motivations: Cassivo was one of the few of his siblings to survive the first life. He grew up and became a strong warrior for his tribe, intelligent and brave, all the time thanking the Energy Lord for the gift granted to him in the form of his second life. Now, as he nears the age where he will have to be more conservative with his energy resources, he wants to honor the Energy Lord by using his last fights to bring him honor in the Tournament.

Name: Marcos von Nelsyren otherwise known as "The Handyman"

Element: Energy

Gender: Male

Race: Human

A Handy Link to "The Handyman's" Entrance

Appearance: Marcos has short, close cropped black hair and a pair of deep blue eyes. He stands at about 5'9" tall and is skinny and muscular. There is a scar on his face that goes from the center of his forehead diagonally down remaining just above his left eye and ending right to the side of it. He has relatively white skin while not seeming to be a ghost and possesses long legs. His face seems to be looked in a sternly disapproving expression until you see him in battle, where he often wears one of what looks to be keen interest.

Attire: Marcos wears a chainmail shirt with a large vest with many pockets on the inside and reinforced metal on the outside. He has a set of leather chaps on his legs and wears a pair of hunting boots meant for quick movements. Over all of this he usually wears a large dark trenchcoat, also possessing of many pockets on its inside. His arms are left completely unguarded save for the chainmail covering near his shoulders and the trenchcoat, as he likes to be able to move the limbs quickly and efficiently in battle and not have any uneeded armor getting in the way.

Equipment:

25x Small Bombs- A custom invention created by Marcos, stored in the inner pockets of Marcos vest and coat, each of these bombs consist of explosive powders contained within a small, diamond-like container. Once shocked by electricity from Marcos, the material will resist the lightning for a short while before allowing it to ignite the powder and cause the bombs to explode. The greater the amount of electricity, the shorter the wait time for the explosion, essentially creating a makeshift timebomb which can be extremely dangerous if Marcos miscalculates.

6x Lightning Rods- A set of 6 batons, 3 of which are strapped to each of Marcos sides at his waist. They can be used as simple stun batons by sending electricity through them or they can be jammed into the ground and used in conjunction with bolts of his lightning.

1x Short Glaive- The front end of a polearm weapon, stored across his lower back, which Marcos uses in close ranged combat. It can conduct electricity which can augment its slashing and particularly its stabbing/piercing ability. It can be combined with the Lightning Rods to extend its length and range.

1x Wire Whip- Placed on his right thigh, this is a whip made out of conductable frayed wire which can both slash and shock its opponent.

1x Wire Roll- An extra roll of wire stored on his left thigh which is used in many of his strategies. It is thick and conducts electricity well.

1x Dagger- A small dagger kept by Marcos for absolutely desperate situations or for cutting his wire.

Abilities:

Electricity Generation- Marcos has the ability to generate electricity from his body and can either send it along his weapons or other pieces of conductable metal, or fire it as a short to mid range lightning bolt.

Backround: Marcos was raised by both his mother, a human, and his stepfather, who was a Drakel. This lead to him having a considerable interest in technology from a very young age. During one such experiment with his father, there was an error that caused a large release of electricity through a Drakel magitech device. This accident left his father dead, but Marcos gifted with the power to generate electricity from his body. Since then, Marcos has avoided all Drakel and forstayed touching as much magitech as he can, preferring to advance normal science in his stead, using simpler technologies. In recent times, he has decided to enter the Elemental Championships for the same reason, to prove that simple technology combined with a small spark of power is capable of doing amazing things and to show this to his Lord, the Master of Energy, and win his favor.

Equipment: A dagger, short sword, and bow and arrows. The dagger's gem is yellow, red, and orange, the colors of fire. It is enchanted, giving Simonaque added power when she performs more complex attacks or defenses. However, the gem will fade as it looses its mana store and takes lengthy periods of time to return to normal power. The short sword is enchanted as well, and burns with the heat of fire when it touches skin. The arrows hold a poison which eats at a person's body, although it soon wears away.

Appearance: Simonaque has black hair which falls just past her shoulders and is held back by a hair band. Her eyes are green, bright and several different shades, which shoot out like shards from the center of her irises. Her skin is like creamy ivory, lightly colored and smooth, although she has a scar that starts at her forehead and goes all the way down to her neck, which she got when she accidentally fell out of a tree, cutting herself on the way down. She is lean, but not very skinny, small and light footed, but slightly clumsy with her hands.

Clothing: She wears a light yellow and orange shirt, a forest green tunic, brown leather pants, and a green, blue, and yellow braided belt, on which is strapped her short sword and dagger.

Personality: Simonaque is quiet, daring, and sometimes thoughtless, although when she fights she pays attention to the details of her opponent's attacks, which helps her find ways to break through their defenses.

Abilities:

Blinding Heat -- Simonaque sends a tightly focused heat wave towards a person's face, which blinds them for a few seconds. Occasionally some of the heat escapes, causing it to dissipate before it reaches its target.

Hell Ring -- She lights a circle of flames around herself, a foot thick and usually a few feet in diameter. However, this greatly saps her strength and therefore she tends to use her dagger's energy. After she uses it once, her dagger's power is drained entirely.

Dark Flame -- Simonaque causes pure black flames to hover above an opponent, making it nearly impossible to see. The flames do not burn however, and they fade quickly.

Close Quarters Combat -- Since Simonaque is slightly clumsy as far as hand-to-hand coordination, she prefers either using her dagger, which requires only one hand, or simply kicking at her opponent whenever and wherever she can.

Ranged Attacks -- Simonaque is quite skilled in range attacks, and uses her bow and arrows to do so. Her aim is usually accurate, especially when her target is moving.

Background: Simonaque lived with two of her brothers, one of whom had learned fire from a dragon-born companion. When she grew older, she decided to learn from her brother how to use the element, which she had great interest in. After several heated debates on the topic, he gave in and taught her what he had learned from his friend.

Several months later, while the two were practicing, Simonaque lost control of the Hell Ring which she had made, and it wreaked havoc upon the town in which her small family had lived. In vain, she and her brother tried stopping the flames, but the fire only spread, destroying everything in its path.

The two buried what was left of the other villagers' bodies and then left, Simonaque full of guilt at what she had done.

The two siblings eventually parted, and Simonaque traveled to another town near FalconReach, where she met an assassin, who took her under his wing. When he learned of her talent in the element of fire, he grew all the more interested in her, and chose to teach her his art.

When she grew tired of the endless chain of killing she left the town and headed out aimlessly, eventually hearing of the Elemental Championship and decided to see how good she really was with fire.

So I've finished with going through all of the past EC's. You guys should really read through them if you have the time; plenty of things to learn.

Anyways, just a placeholder for my eventaul bio. 'Tis a bit late for me to start working on it now, but expect to see one from me sometime in the near future.

YAY! Simonaque is approved! Excellent. If she winds up in an arena full of water that would be incredibly interesting... Although she would probably die pretty quickly then. Ah well, if she dies she dies, and I'll weep not.
