 Some have you have seen ...Miraged... and I in a new segment called Truly Newbie Theater, and the focus in this first episode was about not being fooled by lure.

Oddly enough while waiting for another video to complete transfer, I found this video of me hacking someone. I felt bad about the situation, because it was quite obvious on how the clone name was created.
The Scammer used a clone technique to make a similar name with like letters or numbers.
The clone name used this variation; I will spell it in lower case then upper.

As you see, this person was fooled, and sadly, this is a common issue. I am not sure where this thread would be placed, but it would be nice if a new section of Safety Tutorials were added.

I totally agree.

I saw the one that was scammed and his helper (helped him get his account back) but bought a load of noob weapons. Grrrrr

I explained that is was not you and the spacing and letters of your name were different.

BUT a higher level can be duped but this copy, then so can others. We desperately need some form of name protection.

How can we do this?

I know that if we change name it is protected but it is the variants that are the problems.

I've had many people like Miraged, lLambO or JZaanu dupes trying to scam me and I think this is an urgent issue that needs to be dealt with. Abusing on one's fame in game to scam innocent
players is a very nasty action. Many people invest alot on this game and they would do anything to buy the newest things that come up, so they end up losing their precious accounts to these
low people. In my opinion it should be top priority to the devs to secure their clients' accounts.

Aaaaaand....I loved that little video JZaanu and Mira made for us. Very nice! *applauds*

Nice video JZaanu.

If this turns into a series, i'd love to help :D They seem pretty funny but informative too at the same time .

It's good to create videos like this, as it gives more caution to less experience and more trusting players.

Even though the Rule's and lots of noting of "Do not share any account information to anyone!", people still get hacked weekly :/

AWESOME VIDEO TOO, nice work Mirage and JZaanu. Haha and even cooler background music, like some theatre movie

P.S Also may I suggest that you change the title, to "Clone Scam Awareness". This proves how some "scammers" can pretend to be a well known ED Veteran to try and trick other players.

It is happening right NOW! A fake Miraged is trying to scam me. The name is now .....Miraged.... and she trying to scam my
alt. Should I vid it?

All I know is that the same dude is known as Justice BadMan in facebook and has in account in ED in a similar name (his main I believe).

santa i belive he has made alot of clones since i know he has 3 clones of me and already hacked 2-3 people

If you notice the name, it's Elf Prlest Jzaanu. Instead of an i, it's an l.

Finally, we talk about a REAL problem. I applaud you all.

Scamming has become the stupidest thing. There have been over 8 attempts to scam me over the past few weeks. Several of these impersonators, (Including a variation of ...miraged..., xxx.mamaril.xxx, .Jadwer., and a slight change of Comicalbiker,) have tried to get my account through temptation of varium. It's extremely frustrating, and I don't report them simply because, from what I understand, Miraged was actually banned at one point out of one such complication. I wish no ill will on these players, especially because they're all great achievers, but it has to stop.

 We do our best to stop these scams, and we've taken great care to make sure that legitimate players aren't mistaken for the impostors.

That being said, the best way to deal with this if you come across anyone pretending to be another player is to PM a game moderator (Wiseman, Cinderella, Rainaka, Alley Cat, or myself) or The Lawman immediately. We've taken a lot of precautions to make sure a mistake like that doesn't happen again, nico0las, so please do report these types of scammers when you see them.

Since reports don't belong on the public forum, locking up.
