For weapon specials, the damage increase is determined by the base type of the weapon. For example, a Melee weapon with a Magic special will receive the Melee bonus. You perform the following, which is treated as a normal player attack, but doesn't take any effects from your weapon: Hits: 1 Type: Melee if {STR+DEX ≥ INT*3/2} or {STR/5+DEX/20 > INT/4}; Magic otherwise Element: «As Weapon» Damage: 101-302 plus 623.8% Stats BTH: 38 plus Stats Stat bonus to damage is STR/4 (if Melee) or INT/4 (if Magic). Regardless of type, you receive an additional +LUK/2 if a Lucky Strike occurs. If the attack connects, it will attempt to make the monster Afraid* for 4 rounds, with a 25% chance of being unable to act each round, multiplied by the monster's resistance against the element you attacked it with. Monsters of that element are immune** to this effect, or they may be immune*** to Afraid on their own. DESCRIPTION Wearing this garb gives you mystic powers, letting you call upon ancient spirit animals to boost your damage or accuracy, or fill your foes with fear! Analysis The Normal Attack is an average armor attack (559% Base, Random and 1109.8% Stats, with +19 BTH), split equally among the four hits. Bear Spirit essentially starts off as a standard skill, which means 200% of normal damage. Since the player can freely choose the element to attack with, it does 80% damage and its SP cost is 120% of normal. This leaves the skill at 160% of standard attack, which when split over 4 turns means 40% increase in attack power each turn. Since Magic weapon attacks are equal to 0.75 Melee attacks, the boost is divided by 0.75 for them. Similarly, since Spells are equal to 2 Melee attacks, the boost is divided by 2 for them. The skill receives an additional *0.8 modifier for its SP cost. Eagle Spirit costs 75% of a standard skill. Since Magic weapon attacks are equal to 0.75 Melee attacks, the boost is divided by 0.75 for them. Similarly, since Spells are equal to 2 Melee attacks, the boost is divided by 2 for them. Wolf Spirit starts off as a standard Spell, which is 179-537 damage plus 1110% Stats, with 38 BTH. The attempt to inflict Afraid is equal to 0.595 of a Melee attack, so the skill does 2 - 0.595 = 1.405 of a Melee attack, or 0.7025 of a Spell. In addition, it does 80% damage and costs 120% SP for following your weapon's element. Since Magic weapon attacks are equal to 0.75 Melee attacks, Mages will gain more by using this skill, so it receives a further *1.2 modifier for the SP cost if it does Magic damage.
