I believe NW said during Delta right before Omega that they were naming it Omega because epsilon, zeta, etc... just didn't sound cool enough (honestly, I really like epsilon, and phi particularly). Plus everyone knows Omega, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta, but lots of people don't really know the greek alphabet at all except for those. Unless you're at a high level in math where you start using sigma, mu, phi, etc... most people would just be like "wtf?" if they called the next phase Upsilon or something.
