Exciting news on both fronts here but I'm a little confused about what's getting updated. Right now there's only one chapter in the Devourer Saga's Epilogue and it makes no mention of Red Fog at all. Are we adding 3 new quests to the end?

They probably mean prologue (unless Cray's trying to be funny).

Also, hype! I don't think there's a single true AQ player who does not wish to see the Devourer Saga shining with new colors!

And I, for one, am pretty interested to see what IMR cooked up for the status update.

This is indeed the prologue update mentioned earlier. We are also adding "Konami Code" Spell/Skills to a new Memorial Shop in Yulgar's Inn. All older tribute items will go there as well.

I'd like to take the chance to clarify that I am in no way altering Falerin's writing, and preemptively correct any misconceptions that this is a project I'm at the helm of. That being said, you may find some interesting contributions outside of the story content.

That's actually a really welcome addition. They've been scattered about the various shops for so long now that it's hard to keep track of how many there are.

Nice! I remember way back when you could get the Space Girls quest from Twilly. Very torn between replaying the old quests ahead of the update to capture that nostalgic magic one more time, or make use of the time gap of not having played the story in ages and get a fresh new experience with the new quests.

I didn't know that the Konami code creator passed away, but is there going to be anything for Kobe Bryant?

Wow, I remember when the prologue was still on the map under the name of "Epic Quest." Or something like that.
Going through the first four parts right now. Here are my impressions:
I guess Part 1 is right after the Seed Spitter quest, because this is where we first meet Sage Uldor. Except Sage Uldor has his own quest following the Seed Spitter, under the option "What do the Drakel want?" so I'm not sure how exactly it lines up. Do we ever find out who's controlling the Ribbers?
Safiria still has her accent in Part 2, although she drops it a few lines later. Maybe she was just being theatrical? What was the point of the Red Fog? I remember it plays a part in the "Tower of Xyphos" quest on Dragonclaw Island, but it's been long enough that I don't remember if it does anything else.
Part 3 is very short, only one battle if you choose not to say "Red Fog," and none if you do, but it would've been a much harder fight back when this quest was first released. I remember never being able to finish part 3 of the Darkovian Saga because the Alpha Werewolf was so strong. I hated that 50% damage regeneration it had.
I must not have ever finished Part 4, because I don't ever remember hunting Sneaks. I remember Uldor being bitten by one and fainting, and Robina saying he was old and frail, but that's it.
I guess Uldor's conversation option runs parallel to "Epic Quest?" Because he just told me to find Dewlok in Granemor, and that's where the Elves vs Drakel quest is.
Anyways, this little nostalgia trip has been nice. I look forward to the update.

With new tiers of rewards coming out, does anyone have a list of equipment worth picking up. I don't really remember the Devourer Saga and don't have time to replay it all.

This is looking like another Friday release folks! The main focus of updating the Devourer Saga is making it viable for players of all levels. The Devourer Saga is the grandest legend we have in AQ but has been left behind as the game evolved over the years. So we are rebuilding the quests to current standards as far as functionality, but otherwise keeping everything with the saga in its original form. All mobs/rewards will be updated with new tiering, but not all will be revamped as far as graphics. Where we do update the art, we are including an option to battle the classic or new version of the mobs. Many parts have no rewards at all and Cray has done an awesome job coming up with clever ideas. So every part of the saga will eventually have at least 1 reward. We may even do a suggestion contest for rewards later on!

That sounds amazing! And suggestion contest sounds really sweet.

I just looked up the Protector set and I think the idea of "points" is a good one that should have been used more. It actually seems more useful that full set bonuses.

This sounds really, really awesome. As someone who likes the old "classic" AQ art I'm definitely grateful to hear about this classic/new version option. Also glad to hear about new rewards coming out, I'm looking forward to those.

Hey that's cool! I'll throw in a suggestion. Would you consider adding a toggle button under settings for classic/new graphics for other items? This would include the devourer saga items, along with items like the Blade of Awe, Golden set, Nightmare set, etc!

This will probably be a huge task to pull off, but if you do consider it, I'm sure the players can help compile a list of older items we'd like to see in classic mode!

The seed spitter and elves and drakel saga mainly led into the Carnax saga actually which came before the devourer saga.

The red fog is mainly a piece of worldbuilding about how some magic is just stored in the world. The Red fog on Dragonclaw Island was likely conjured by Xyphos.

The Ribbers are autonomous undead who are trying to hunt down Epheel to get their revenge on him.

Really? I checked the pedia, and the Seed Spitter and Elves vs Drakels quests are really old, but they're part of the Carnax Saga? I know there's that scroll in Fal's Domicile that takes you back to the Drakel War, but I thought the Drakel remembered the Devourer and were preparing for his return, and Carnax was foreshadowed by the Cor-Dem random encounters and the stone clock in Talados.
But is there actually a reason the Red Fog was included in the Epic Quest? It's a nice bit of worldbuilding, but it seems kind of random.
As for the Ribbers, I think I remember that. I know for sure this is where Epheel shows up and passes himself off as someone fighting the Devourer, but again, it's been a while since I've gone through this quest line.

The Status System update is going to need more time, it will probably be ready for release next week.
