33% cutscene is out for the Wabio side.

@Hollow/Cray: After the war is over, do you think we could get the 66% cutscene from the wabio side? after the war is over I'm just curious what other timeline we would have had we not been so biased against Sham.

To be fair, 9 times out of 10 Sham has earned a metal boot to the face.

66% cutscene is out.

spoiler:

Nice cutscene between Aria and Hans, although due to the speed of the war right now that we can only wonder if this was a development that happens chronologically before the April fools event that hans and aria are also together in. Maybe this will actually move the needle?

THIS IS MY VILLAIN ORIGIN STORY

nice

I still want to see the alternative cutscenes with the Wabio side even after the war, just for curiosity's sake and to have us know what could have been. Maybe it'll tell us that perhaps being biased against Sham was a mistake just this time around if that alternative timeline would have given a better result for both Hans and Aria.

It is obvious that this war should end now. The experiment was a failure. This is the longest war in the history of Adventure Quest. The use of portal armies should be restored to the way it was. Members spent a lot of time and energy to develope their houses and capabilities. This negating of the armies is unfair to them and having this war to last for over a month proves this.

It has already been explained by both staff and players that there were far more variables than estates contributing to the slowdown, especially considering that the estate contribution was deliberately overcompensated for when reducing the war waves. We have taken note of these issues, discussed them at length with players here and on multiple Discord servers, and compiled feedback to improve the format. There are also no plans to have a competitive war until the necessary changes, such as (for example) having estates contribute equally to both competing sides, can be implemented.

Other variables, such as elemental parity, balanced wave composition, and compensating for how halved power doesn't properly impact health or status potency, were already discussed along with potential solutions. The Tank Knight issue, having had a particularly bad impact on morale, is one we'll especially keep an eye out to avoid repeating it.

As of estates, as the answer to every post about them is in the first page of the thread:

quote:

Given how extensively this has been clarified across multiple channels of communication, I would like to put the recent changes in the plainest of terms:

  • As a patchwork measure, estates can participate in the competitive war. Sending armies only results in one victory, as you just noticed, but you are still receiving the normal rewards as you would for the multiple waves. Functionality is not altered for non-competitive wars.

The estates are still an advantage, but now one that can be matched more easily. Fully developed estates are not an overwhelmingly one that compromises the integrity of a competition by providing thousands of wins to one side at the start. We can't have them creating a foregone conclusion through an insurmountable early lead that encourages piling onto the inevitable victor.

This specific execution is a stopgap measure. One of the various points of feedback that we simply didn't have time to implement before this war was to find a way to keep estates active without being unfair. A more thorough execution will have to wait for a future war, but I'm confident that you will enjoy it.

I'm fine with the pace of the war. It doesn't add stress to people who are slowly earning their war waves while juggling IRL stuff like studies and work. There is also no penalties in sending war waves nor is there a deadline for this war.

Also like the fact that because it's as slow as it is that it's allowed me to leverage estate rewards for far longer than I would have usually allowed to have leveraged them. Overcapping 20% every day works quite nicely to farming.

Just curious, but it seems like Dark Paladin's win count is the highest ever in a war- can anyone confirm this?

May I request 2 victory for full army & 1 victory for 1/2 army sent?
while I am sucking thumb over the estate issues, it doesn't make sense to have 1 victory regardless or full or 1/2 army sent.

Would it be possible to add an option to the wars where you just send in your forces to attack blindly? In the case of competitive wars, it would just randomly split the waves defeated between each possible option. That would let the wars still be finished at a decent pace, without letting players directly force one side over the other.

Maybe also change the mechanic for choosing how much you send so that it works the same way choosing a side in a competitive war does, by removing the options you didn't choose the first time you sent an army through the portal that time you clicked on it. If you want to change it, go back to the estate screen and come back in like you went to trade resources or something.

Anyone know when was the last time a war went on this long?

Has it been going on for three weeks?

There was a Frostvale war about 5 years ago that took 2.5 months to complete. I don't really have an issue with the pace so far given my estates have profiited so much from all this.

Come to think about it, there really should be a function to be able to spend your estate resources outside of a war.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember seeing the meter at 86% a few days ago. Today it is 89%. I think it's fair to say people have finished warring for the 2500 wins or just have stopped contributing to it. I wouldn't mind Loco coming in and having a "blast".

Participating at a casual pace, so no 2500 wins for me... but I'm aiming for 1000 at least
    Couple hundred more to go...

Same, warring casually now. At 700-ish on my warrior, also aiming for 1000

At this rate even a bit under a hundred wins a day would have gotten you 2500. I'd love to contribute another full day or two and help end this, but I'm gonna be busy this week. Now, this is just an informal not-really-serious-but-actually-kinda-serious request, but: could Dark Paladin get a small little something special for their effort- like maybe a title in the war rewards shop unlocked with 50k wins? It's looking like they're going to cross over 50k wins, which is an absolutely insane amount of work. Due to the circumstances it's highly unlikely anyone will get that many war wins in a single war ever again.

It looks like we're getting close to the end, yet I still want to see that 66% cutscene from the Wabio side just as an easter egg, and maybe if possible, the alternate ending should Sham have won instead of Wabio. Because this has dragged on as long as this has I'm just curious about the potential alternate timeline and where this is taking place canonically. Hans and Aria are together in Utgard Loco, so we can only assume that this war took place before Utgard, and there might have been a progression before then? (this war?)

@ Dark Paladin - thank you for your service

I didn't think I'd participate much (was only looking at 1k)... but now it's at 2.9k for me
    99% let's finish up here!

Given the pile of starting anomalies and the consequences thereof, I looked into displaying the alternate cutscenes for the war. We can have an option to view them after it's over.

    Finally, we have a winner!

    spoiler:

So Sham turns back to normal. Wabio gets canned. But unfortunately I could not see what happened to him visually because he's right behind the player's model so it is obscured. I am left unsatisfied to know how this affects Warlic going first. If he was cured at the end, we don't even see how he is because there's no epilogue. I am only left with more questions.

Anyways the armor is pretty good, and I imagine a lot of beastmasters will like it. It's a fully defensive fire armor to start off. You activate the skill for 1 turn, and you get celerity every part on your side. If you keep activating it, the cost goes up. Although I kind of wish this was a toggle instead of having to be activated every turn as I imagine people would use it multiple times a battle. But other than that I might even use it for offense because the celerity makes it that good. Not to mention it has in-built control chances that activates on hits. And because it's on the attack, if you use it with celerity, you have more chances to inflict.

The call/summon lepre-chan of course, is as it is. Nothing really special about it.

Well, this war has dragged on quite a bit. But we have our conclusion. Here's to some valuable lessons learned and a hope that we'll be able to see the alternative cutscenes/scenarios.

PS: The Wabio warzone is still considered active, even though the war is over. I suppose we can keep it open until that magically gets to 100% (IE, restore the normal kill counts through estates and it should end quickly enough as well)? It would be a nice way to continue to utilize estate resources, and I think we should have discussions on estate resources being able to be utilized outside of wars and building upgrades.
