It’s been a while since I wrote some Design Notes for you all!
I can hear what you’re thinking! “Didn’t the Nest already have a finale?!” and let me tell you: Yes, You’re right! However, I still had some story to tell and things to wrap up!

So this quest confirms that dragonsbane, if administered in enough quantities, can keep a dragon from shapeshifting into a humanoid form which also might be why Aisha was still in her dragon form at Olaf's party beyond simply desiring to be in that form.


Hearing about her partner though makes me wish my original guess as what could have happened to them, if she had one previously, was accurate...as on them being dead. Seriously, that guy sounded almost like another Theano in the making and probably wanted a half-dragon for status alone.

I'm also curious how exactly Jaania is seeing through the illusions people put up. We know Akanthus possess the ability to see through people's illusion and presumably, he does this by whatever magical runes have been inscribed into his armor and that allowed him to see through the entire veil Sepulchure put up and Jaania was also able to at the very least see the effects of his doom affliction. Her being able to tell that Messimy was likely a dragon in human form makes me wonder if she's using a particular spell to have this perception or if she has something on her person like Akanthus that allows her to do so.

Also a tad bit disappointed we didn't learn anything about Messimy being a darkness dragon I get it that she was basically just the average wild dragon doing her own thing while living in her cave, and not the Great Darkness Dragon hiding behind a new name like I originally speculated, but I was kind of hoping we'd learn something about what's been going on with darkness dragons. Although perhaps I'm just gushing over the fact that Messimy is the first darkness dragon we've encountered that was not affiliated with doom and trying to kill us, undead, or The Mastermind.

Ah, poor Messimy. I like her a lot more as a character after hearing her story. I feel it's not often we see a dragon committed to do good out of remorse for their past.

I think having the ability to see through illusions might just be perk that comes with being a mage as learned and as powerful as Jaania, I'm sure Warlic or Xan could probably do the same.

I think Amadeus was a different case though; he had multiple layers to his illusions. Jaania only knew that he had "scars" that he was hiding, so I believe he had her fooled. I remember reading that he fed her a story in his diary in Tea for Three too.

As for Akanthus... I don't buy it. I think that was just another lie he told Sepulchure to spook him into working on his bad mojo machine. I'm just speculating here, but I find it far more likely that he sent spies on him rather than him being able to through all of Sepulchure's illusions with his fancy armour. That's just me though.
