Captain Rhubarb -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/18/2009 8:14:03)

I'm still ridiculously busy working on ballyhoo, payment system integration, and other "boring" marketing stuff.
So, I won't have any time to work on AQ housing until after August.

Jr -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/18/2009 11:06:35)

oooo, a Void House Guard shop. Vamp Handmaiden (I know already mentioned...), Elizabeth, Night of 1000 Ninja, that little armadillo looking thing that shoots needles out of its tail. That would be pretty cool.

krazy demon child -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/20/2009 0:47:21)

They may be easy alone but when faced back to back they`re nearly impossible. BM sucks up all your mana, VH is then pretty much impossible due to having little to no mana, then EVW does 300+ unblockable void damage. We are also in need of guards between level 105 and 130 since there aren`t any right now. We may not get those exact guards but it would be nice to have some strong guards to keep away monsters and players.

Ranloth -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/23/2009 4:50:05)

It's kinda lot + high resource cost (loads of Stone and i think Energy) O_o But I hope for upgrading rares or storing Temp weps in Museum (like Mythical Blade) and then go to Museum and "borrow" it.

Edit: Below, maybe some weapons won't (like DB)

Also we could collect some things like Gogg's Eye (the one u need for Beleqwaya's Quest) and things like that, That'd be like a trophy that u beat that monster etc but aybe only high lvl ones could have things like that (claws, eyes etc to collect).

dann -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/23/2009 5:06:40)

@Trans21: That seems unlikely, but imagine what you could do after getting a Dragon Blade. :D

xDeathlordx -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/24/2009 18:51:35)

It's rather disappointing that the museum has been shoved aside after all the promises made about it and all the sales that were made from it. Put aside in favor of: a new game that is basically a clone of AQ, new payment systems, and ballyhoo, another marketing system. Meanwhile, an expensive portal system was sold and fully implemented. All new ways to make more money.

But what about the museum sales you already made and the existing players that bought them? Perhaps more time should be spent honoring your part of a sale that was made many months ago to current customers, over finding more and more new ways to make more money. Does that sound fair? I spent quite a few tokens, including purchased ones, to develop my estate for the sole purpose leveling a museum. And there it has sat ever since while project after project has been pushed ahead of it. I know it was stated that it wasn't completed at the time but a lot of time has passed while other things have been developed.

Sorry if that offends anyone, but I think this is a very legitimate point. People have been politely mentioning this for some time now.

Captain Rhubarb -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/24/2009 19:29:13)

XDeathlordx,

I totally agree with you.
Hard part is convincing the business suits.

Spy -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 2:44:32)

1) I was thinking about your own personal safe house so you can put your extra items/switch items in there and with each level it upgrades security and storage space for the safe- the risk in using this safe house is that monsters can "steal" your items- this does not mean that the item is Gone it is just stolen and you can do a mini quest to take the item back. the higher level safes will have more security and less of a chance for this to happen.

2) I was looking at the guard list and I was wondering if you put any thought into revamping the guard monsters- to make them have a more guardian look. as of now they seem way too uncivilized and uncontrollable (i.e. Megogg). So I was wondering about a training system in the Guard tower that will level up your house guards into more effective guardians and possibly change their image after each level to be more sophisticated.

3) There should be more animation in the estates, meaning you should actually see your workers "working" and if an estate is attacked it should have a default animation of that worker being attacked, I don't know much about flash but after seeing the new Granemor and the animated scenery I am confident you can pull that off.

4) The houses should have more detail/ maybe a paintjob as well.

5)pertaining to guards I was wondering if we can have ALOT more gold guards/ high level too

Chipmunkking -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 3:13:47)

@ 1). I don't like that concept at all, if anything were to go wrong it'd be mass hysteria.

Captain Rhubarb -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 4:48:02)

I can safely implement idea #1 some day. That does sounds fun.
I do have a very fun quest idea that's been in my head since forever where the player loses *all* their gear temporarily.

Ideas #2 and #3 require quite a bit of extra artwork and animation done.
I have a hard time getting artists allocated to any of my projects.
For idea #2, we just need to have more guards that make sense as actual guards. Humanoid things that could be hired, instead of monsters.

victor123456789 -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 4:56:26)

@ spy)i just <3 idea 1,seems like a easy way to save inventory space and still keep rares

Spy -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 14:21:19)

6) for gold guards I think we should have a monthly fee of gp/ and a permanent guard option for z-tokens

Apocalyptic Silence -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 14:22:58)

Spy, we already have a permanent guard option for z-tokens for z-token guards. The guards costing gold shouldn't cost gold each month or ever.

Spy -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 14:32:29)

why not? in real life it would be foolish to expect someone to guard you without some form of continual payment, it doesn't have to be much but it should have some form of payment. ztokens in this light can be portrayed as very expensive purchases which the guard offers life time protection.

Apocalyptic Silence -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 14:35:34)

But this isn't real life. Logic doesn't always apply AQ. It makes having an estate not worth the trouble. Have you calculated the amount of gold it costs to upgrade a majority of the buildings to maximum level? Having to pay more gold/z-tokens really doesn't help the estate business.

Spy -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 14:39:40)

i wasnt saying anything about paying more z-tokens, but a small fee of gold for gold monsters, so if the staff decide one day to make a 120k guard then they can divide it by 12 and offer a 10k monthly fee.

Apocalyptic Silence -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 14:44:26)

Whats this than?

and a permanent guard option for z-tokens

Still why apply something that hinders the estate business rather than improve? For your example that would cost quite a lot if someone had a large sum of guards. You would be paying more for the guards monthly rather than receiving if you have a guard tower/MWP.

Spy -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 14:50:44)

the dividing by 12 was just an idea, it would probably have to be divided even more in the end. I still think monthly options are a much better way to do things because buying it all upfront would take a huge amount of gold and end up breaking your bank. the only problem with this idea is if the player doesn't...play. the permanent z-token idea would just entice people to buy z-tokens if they dont like the montly payment.

and @ above, apart from the free z-tokens it gives i only suggest this idea when it becomes useful to own an estate.

Captain Rhubarb -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 16:49:48)

Whether something is useless or not depends on your goals.
But anyway, as a quick update:

ESTATE UPDATE:

* Storage Buildings can now be leveled up to level 15. The gold upgrade costs are relatively cheap, but the upgrade time is longer than other buildings.
* The Museum hourly energy, food, and stone costs have been cut in half.

Omni -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 17:10:59)

Captain wouldn't it be more feasible to make another storage building or to require more resources than to make us wait ten releases?

Captain Rhubarb -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 17:34:35)

Regarding: "make another storage building",
I can add another building, but I figured that most of you are already struggling with available plots.

Regarding the comment, "They have no real in-game use as of yet."
What in-game use is buying better weapons/etc for your character?
To be more powerful to level up? What's the point in that?
The character level number is just a number.
The house estate building levels are also just numbers.

There's no way to "Win" this game, so everything in the game comes down to personal goals.
Kind of like real life... wow.. deep.

krazy demon child -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 18:10:18)

@ Cap'n You yourself said that you "win" the game at level 130 (or was it 100?) The in-game use of buying better equipment is to become more powerful, the in-game use of becoming more powerful is to level up more quickly, the in-game use of leveling up more quickly is to reach level 130 and "win", and the in-game use of reaching level 130 is to flaunt it in lower level players faces : P. Everything has a use except for estates. You spend tons of gold and tokens leveling them up, but in the end all you're left with is an item that constantly gets attacked and benefits you in no way.

Wyrm -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 18:58:30)

If only we could get more resource-giving plots which would generate more per hour

I know for a fact that several other buildings have been made it's simply a matter of implementing functionality. I hope to see some resource producing buildings that drain one resource and produce multiple types of different resources in the future. It would help to add a more complex system to the one that's in place. Most buildings should have some kind of penelty, for instance it takes wood to keep a pier from collapsing into the lake, etc.

Art On!

mluther -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 19:00:44)

But the pier would only need repairs every now and then so maybe just take one unit of wood a day instead of every hour.

afterlifex -> RE: =AQ= Houses With Estates - Discussion (8/25/2009 19:06:29)

^ and the garden produces food in one hour[8D], the estates have a separate speed a which time moves.(or something). Just because they update(we collect resources) on the hour does not mean that time is the same.

Edit: thou time could be different for all builds as well. Hmm..slow time for storage buildings thus resources stay fresher longer and faster time for things such as the garden.(theoretical magic..it hurts my head)
