Actually all of those in the cipher can be squared, perfectly.

Gundisalvus -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:32:15)

@Nickwright:What about 289? Although that really could just be a typo.

Anyways, I just remembered something having to do with the poem.
quote:

"One and one and one is three"
Got to be good-looking cos he's so hard to see

That is what you hear when you play one of the Beatles albums! That is the exact wording! It evens fits the "insectoid singing group!"

Nickwright -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:32:54)

289 Squared is 17

Gundisalvus -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:35:23)

@Nickwright:Now I feel dumb. I think I got something with the Beatles connection though.

Silverdragon -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:35:39)

Actually, I think that's the lyrics of an actual song by them. I heard it on the radio not so long ago. That song is Come Together.

Gundisalvus -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:38:53)

@Silver:Yeah you're right. I thought it was what you heard when you played Come Together backwards, but I guess I was wrong.

Traveler -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:41:04)

That sentences are indeed the ending of "Come Together", by The Beatles. And I guess they are the key to solving the puzzle, but I'm stuck. I've been trying to take the results of the square roots and sum them in groups of three (for the "one and one and one is three" part), but it has led me nowhere.

Silverdragon -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:45:31)

Eldron said that one and one and one and one is four would be more appropriate.
So I think the key is to organise them in groups of four or something like that.

Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:46:58)

Gun: Yeah, that's the point. The Beatles reference was so he could say one and one and one and one is four.

Nickeh: Nope. 19 can't be rooted perfectly (assuming you meant "rooted perfecty," not "squared perfectly." All integers can be squared perfectly.)

I have to go, since I'm on my mother's ancient computer that can't use IRC and is ridiculously slow, but before my laptop shut down I tried removing every fourth letter. I got this:

289 44 3 400 144 44 14 40 25 25 34 81 25 16 36 25 1 9 16 6 16 169 6 81 25 34 36 1 22

144 96 31 1 40 4 19 40 4 19 289 121 6 81 16 29 14 676 1 22 400 100 21 4 00 6 32

36 10 22 400 6 12 4 40 100 144 21 16 14

I tried rooting where applicable and adding digits where not, and got gibberish.

Two things I do notice, though: "40 4 19" appears twice in a row in the second line. Also, the last digit in each line was one of the removed ones (it was a fourth number).

Traveler -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:48:33)

Yes, but in the other puzzles Eldron's and Falerin's clues have never been ment to be taken literally (they gave us some keys, but only if you didn't do exactly what they said), so I would be cautious with the importance of number 4.

Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:51:27)

Untrue. In Eldron's first puzzle, he said "Eliminate Falerin... eliminate Admiral Amada... eliminate Zorbak" quite clearly, if not so succinctly.

Traveler -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:55:22)

That's what I meant: he told us to discard them as authors of the message, which was misleading if taken literally. We had to eliminate them, but not in the way he told us.

Nickwright -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:55:12)

we believe 19 is merely a typo but who knows

Silverdragon -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:56:52)

I'm gonna try Traveler's idea, but using 4 numbers.
BTW: here's the serie when rooted, assuming 19 was a typo and meant 169 or 196
17 12 6 20 1 12 12 12 20 5 15 18 9 25 14 6 25 1 (14,13) 4 4 13 13 6 9 15 18 19 1 15

12 14 19 1 20 2 13 20 2 14 17 1 11 4 9 1 4 17 12 26 9 15 20 2 10 11 2 10 6 18

6 10 15 20 4 11 2 20 10 1 12 11 14 12

Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:58:21)

Mm. Perhaps we do have to work with 1+1+1=3 rather than 1+1+1+1=4. Or maybe 12 has something to do with it, as it is the LCM of 3 and 4.

ringulreith -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 16:59:14)

Perhaps the "1"s in the number sequence mean something?

Gundisalvus -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 17:00:13)

@ont:I thought that might be the case, but there are more than four ones.

kors -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 17:01:03)

mabye hes trying ment to use brinary or some other language that uses the number 1 it has to fit in somewhere in the puzzle if it is mentioned, right?

ringulreith -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 17:01:41)

How much ones are there?

Gundisalvus -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 17:02:55)

@ont:I believe that there are six.

ringulreith -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 17:07:45)

Perhaps the one represents a space/division? Somebody try dividing every part before a one into 4 parts.

Silverdragon -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 17:09:06)

@ont and Gundis no there are 7 "1", I did a count on the previous page.

I tried my idea and got
CKFB (Q/R) JIPPWGEJOJYKH

BTW 1111 is 15 in binary and 111 is 7.

Nickwright -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 17:09:18)

I believe we're onto something here...

QLFTALLLTEORIYNFYAMBBMMFIORSAO
LNSATBMTBNQAKDIADQLZIOTBJKBJFR

FJOTDKBTJALKNL

is what we get squared with 19 = 169 as a typo

the last line is 14 letters long with
J K L T repeating

Temura Ge'Thrak

is 14 letters
with
T E R A repeating
so going on this

The puzzle is scrambled.

I believe however that this is the right way....

oh man. Wow, I missed a bit. Sorry

ringulreith -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 17:16:51)

I'd like to note that "1", except one case, always appears after a 3-digit number (except once after 89)
