Well there's the number sequence if it is a Hill Cipher, you all can have at it.

Gundisalvus -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 22:52:29)

@Nick:Honestly, it looks a tad bit... big to be a hill cipher.

Aaronrules380 -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 22:53:48)

I'm pretty sure it isn't a hill cipher since it doesn't seem to have any actual ciphertext

Gundisalvus -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 22:56:29)

@Aaron:Unless of course you were to translate the numbers into text via find their square roots and then looking to the correlation of the square root to the number of a letter in the English alphabet, which we've(Read:Other People) already tried with other things.. Of course, it still seems too big to be a hill cipher.

Branan -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 23:00:54)

Well since ididnt feel like reading through all those forums i just copied it down to work wit, note i only got a 101 on my IQ test for scaning abilities which means i suck
Q W A Z G W I J H I F W I K , Q W A N H I I H Q P H I

I W A B H B G T . C J Z G P P Q K , C J C H T T P Q K U G H T .

- G L N H A G T G N G L G

now if we remove the Gs

Q W A Z W I J H I F W I K , Q W A N H I I H Q P H I

I W A B H B T . C J Z P P Q K , C J C H T T P Q K U H T .

- L N H A T N L
now lets c QWA repeats a few times as does CJ and HI well if we remove those we get

Z W I J F W I K , N H I I H Q P

I W A B H B T . Z P P Q K , C H T T P Q K U H T .

- L N H A T N L

now lets com bine all of them into one long sentence thingy

Z W I J F W I K , N H I I H Q P I W A B H B T . Z P P Q K , C H T T P Q K U H T . - L N H A T N L
now lets get rid off all that room in between letters

ZWIJFWIK,NHIIHQPIWABHBT.ZPPQK,CHTTPQKUHT.-LNHATNL

now lets tak out allk the actual words and punctutation

ZWIJFWIKNIWABHBTZPPQKCHTTPQKTLNNL

Now help me

Dicer -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 23:03:51)

Well, I only meant to suggest that might be a hill cipher, so I should've said that more clearly, but there is one problem- that is the ONLY thing that I can think of that seems to combine the previous three methods of encryption, obviously minus the squared number-to-letter cipher. Maybe it IS a Hill Cipher though. Supposed that is is, and consider this: What if the clues are to be combined as well? Could this suggest that we include 1) substitution, 2) Elimination, 3) 2-rail, and possibly FOUR columns, since he emphasized four in the puzzle's post? And since Eldron also emphasized looking at ALL the previous puzzles, maybe it is simply a reverse-order decryption with the Squared Number Cipher being the first to be used. Any thoughts?

~Dicer

EDIT: I'm going to try a Hill Cipher Decryption with FOUR as the base for the vector, and using a four-row and two-row rail/ Hill cipher base, as well as trying smaller hill ciphers with four as the base to see if I can Veeeery slowly figure it out. Wish me luck!

Branan -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 23:08:23)

?My way of deciphering is very weird right?

Dicer -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 23:11:08)

Actually, I'd like to know how exactly you did that, Branan- you may be onto something. I have no idea how many possible ways to even TRY to solve this there are, but I'm open to suggestion, especially since AE is so sneaky with their puzzles and references... >.>

Aaronrules380 -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 23:12:29)

Actually Branan seems to still be working on the first puzzle

Branan -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 23:13:48)

I just took out anything that seemed to apear common got rid off all the real words and puctuation, thats all i did and im stuck >( since i get off on summer break tommorow :) ill try roman numerials, and always keep the original and ALL of ur steps and try all the posibilities it might work

Coldkick -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 23:17:37)

Lol Branan I think you are working on the first puzzle :)

Nano Blade -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 23:18:45)

got it!(BTW,i dont know how 2 hide spoilers):

324 289 289 484 4 81 361 121 81 1 625 64 100 625 121

This is what we started with.

1 22 6 9 3 1 3 12 20 8 5 18 8 9 1

2 14 20 4 1 5 4 10 13 14 22 9 8 22 18

11 1 9 12 25 3 1 10 13 2 3 1 10 11 14

4 4 1 1 22 9 10 26 9 15 17 25 9 22 9

18 17 17 22 2 9 19 11 9 1 25 8 10 25 11

The Next logical Step is translate those numbers into their roots as seen above...

quote:

A V F I C A C L T H E R H I A

B N T D A E D J M N V I H V R

K A I L Y C A J M B C A J K N

D D A A V I T Z I O Q Y I V I

R Q Q V B I S K I A Y H J Y K

Next is to make them into their corresponding letters...

quote:

A V I C C T H H A

B T D E J N V H V

K I Y C J B C J K N

D A V I T I Q Y I V I

Q Q V I S K I Y H J Y

This is with Falerin, Admiral Amada and Zorbak removed

quote:

A V I C C T H H A B T D E J N V H V K I Y C J B C

J K N D A V I T I Q Y I V I Q Q V I S K I Y H J Y

This is railed

We're missing something somewhere...hmmm

Branan -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 23:29:11)

A V I C C T H H A B T D E J N V H V K I Y C J B C

J K N D A V I T I Q Y I V I Q Q V I S K I Y H J Y
take out all the repeated letters

A V I C T H B D E J N K Y Q S

and i say help becsue the next steps are hard and dififclut and quite frankly its 11:27 and i have to leave early tommorrow

A. try to turn them into numbers andd them up
2. put them in roman nemreals and c wat it spells
3. put them in alphabetical order
4. a million other possibilities

explain the logistics, we dont kno what way to decode it so we have no idea that the answers are right now do we?

Clyde -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/1/2009 23:50:15)

Hmm let's try this:

Since both w/out spaces are 25 each
quote:

A V I C C T H H A B T D E J N V H V K I Y C J B C
J K N D A V I T I Q Y I V I Q Q V I S K I Y H J Y

I decided to divide each line by 5 and make it 5 by 5
quote:

AVICC
THHAB
TDEJN
VHVKI
YCJBC

JKNDA
VITIQ
YIVIQ
QVISK
IYHJY

At this moment I think throwing out random ideas will work? XD

Or you know the whole code could be a ruse or some of the clues could be misleading us in the wrong direction. D:

Nickwright -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/2/2009 0:06:12)

I think we're all pretty stumped.

Eldron we've pretty much gone over everything, can we get a clue? Or some spaces to seperate words or something?

Lord Asrius -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/2/2009 0:10:06)

Ooh, Roman numerals sound like a faint possibility. Someone get them, I don't trust my translation of Romans.

Rethal -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/2/2009 0:45:23)

hey, i read the first page (lol) and skipped on down here.. has anyone tried to see if this riddle, after what everyone has done so far, is like the first one, with each letter representing another letter? i mean, im not great at this, but...

Lkeas -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/2/2009 1:54:09)

I was looking through the past four puzzles and realized, there were NO word scrambles. So far all the puzzles have been in some logical order. The rail cipher and the word removal puzzles looked like random scrambles at first, but there was a logic to them. That means there must be a way to solve this without resorting to random guesses.

That is if Eldron's clue of not forgetting what we've done up til now means that only the methods used in past puzzles are at work in this one. I guess there's always the possibility that something new was thrown in...

But yeah, working off the assumption that we're supposed to use the 4 existing methods, we have:

1) Square roots (done)
1) Word removal (done)
1) Rail fence cipher (how many rails?)
1) Letter Substitution (yipes)

1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4 [;)]

We've finished the first two, so on to the rail. With a 2-rail fence similar to the second puzzle, we get this:

AJVKINCDCATVHIHTAIBQTYDIEVJINQVQHVVIKSKIYICYJHBJCY

A 4-rail fence doesn't work nicely. However a 5-rail fence would make something like this:

ATYVQVDCIVIEJTICJBISCNCQKTVJYIHHKIYHVNVHAKDIJBIAQY

If our assumption is correct that we're only using previous puzzles, then the only step left should be letter substitution, meaning that one of those jumbles up there should magically become a sentence when we get the right letter combinations.

Problem is there is no spacing of the words or keyword hints to help us figure out what the substitutions should be. That could take days to figure out with no clues!

Starlock -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/2/2009 2:11:31)

Here's a possibility I'm throwing out there:

If it is -
a) a scramble as well as substitution and the rest of the stuff
b) if ' (apostrophe) and _ (space) have their own letter and
c) The last line is Temura Ge'Thrak then this equation thing would work (for the last line):

[T=QIKY][e=I] m=RVBSAHJ u=RVBSAHJ[r=QIKY][a=QIKY] _=RVBSAHJ G=RVBSAHJ [e=I] '=RVBSAHJ [T=QIKY] h=RVBSAHJ [r=QIKY][a=QIKY] k=RVBSAHJ

... Meaning, for example, that T could be the letter Q, I, K, or Y or the letter m could be R, V, B, so on.. and I'm probably sure that I is e.

Here's original last line before names are taken out:
quote:

R Q Q V B I S K I A Y H J Y K

Might be confusing but just a thought. [;)] I'm goin to bed. =P

Nova Gryphon -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/2/2009 2:17:56)

@Santh - I don't think that works - If you check the original puzzle, on the last line, there are only three entries have the same numerical value (289, 81, & 1) , but Temura Ge'Thrak has 4 sets of repeating letters in her name (T, e, r, & a) , so that wouldn't work.

Gundisalvus -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/2/2009 2:31:22)

Eldron said: “The god of good will never lead you astray, but he may detour you a bit.”

That leads me to believe the answer may be simpler than we first thought.
He also said the interpretation of a puzzle should depend on the one who wrote it, but warned that the one who wrote it may not be the one who ends up posting it. We've tried complicated, intricate methods; but they haven't exactly worked this time. Perhaps things aren't quite as compicated as they might first appear. Perhaps we need to look at this puzzle in a different light. Of course, I don't actually have any suggestions on how to do that.

Dragonnightwolf -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/2/2009 4:06:04)

okay it's around two am gmt, everything I tried so far tonight has come up with zip. So hopefully we get a lil bit of help from the loremaster. gnight everyone.

MegaPoster404 -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/2/2009 7:44:45)

Reading in columns, maybe?

Eldron -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Unfolds! (6/2/2009 9:14:37)

As requested:

Hint number 3:

XX XXX XXX XXXX XXX, XXX'XX XXXX, XXXXXX XXXX! -XXXXXX XXX XXXXXXX

We told you they will get tougher. [:)]
