Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/5/2009 23:36:25)

Sorry I signed off so abruptly--my computer ran out of battery and I forgot my power cord at school (yes, again). I'm using a friend's computer to type this, and I don't dare go on IRC--all of these newfangled Mac shenanigans irk me.

Coldkick -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 2:18:47)

After lots of searching I found this site, Vigenere Ciphers. Also this site Polyalphebetical Ciphers and this Variations of Vigenere
It shows a different kind of Vigenere that's uses a keyword to replace some of the regular code. It might be useful for this cipher but me and Dragonnightwolf have yet to utilize it.
However we did find that all of the letters are duplicated at least twice. Missing letter include B,D,G and O. We think this means something.

Also we do not think that this is a Standard Vigerene. In Fal's message in the last two sentences of the first paragraph he mentions that he thinks they are being spied on. So why would he tell us what type of cipher we are trying to solve if he's worried about enemies getting the message? It's most likely a cover-up to trick enemies.

If you have Microsoft office or open office here is all of the Messages for review purposes.
Microsoft Office 93-03
Microsoft Office 07

Lkeas -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 2:24:50)

In terms of the clue itself, it's worth noting that there are some repeated words... sort of. Other than the normal small words like "and" and "the" we also have:

Network and network
Rome and Romans
interested and interest
repeat and repeatedly

synonyms:
vigilant and alert
unimportant and irrelevant

Is any of this useful in determining the key? The most obvious word that we tried as a key was of course "annoyance" but that didn't get us anywhere. Nor did the previous key used to solve the last puzzle.

Dragonnightwolf -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 2:32:37)

other then what ck said above there.

I have tried and exhausted my list of ideas starting from idea one, to idea 43.

I believe, what we need now. Is falerin to show up with some helpful advice.

Hagen -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 8:59:18)

I bet that the keyword is related to "annoyance"...

Dragonnightwolf -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 9:56:09)

well "if" it is haden.

none of us could figure out how to make the darn thing work.

Aaronrules380 -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 11:36:23)

I think those repeated words are to throw us off. Remember, those are similar words not the same words. Fal's first lines could be interpreted to say similarities and commonalities are different and that we should remember that

kors -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 13:26:57)

aaronrules380 i think fal was trying to say that the network and the warpforce are diferent yet similar
and with you who think annoyance is a possible key word i personally think fal was trying to trick us i think he ment that annoyance is the key to solving great mysteries not this mystery

Aaronrules380 -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 13:44:32)

I think i is a double meaning, particularly since those words were of high importance in solving the last puzzle

Nex del Vida -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 13:45:32)

Since it is apparent that repetition had something to do with the puzzle, I suggested that we run the ciphertext through the Vignere cypher more than once using the same key. We did this with several different possible keywords on IRC with no results. There is a large possibility I won't be able to get on IRC until Monday due to the aforementioned power cord issue, but I will sign on here from time to time to see your progress and help if I can.

[18:18:58] <Falerin-nonpresent> Let's play 10 questions
[18:19:10] <Falerin-nonpresent> You may ask me 10 and only 10 yes or no questions
[18:19:43] <Aaron> is the key a word in your post(the one where you gave us the puzzle)?
[18:19:54] <Falerin-nonpresent> No
[18:20:09] <Falerin-nonpresent> 9 questions remain
[18:20:15] <Aaron> should we use the same decryptor as we did the last time?
[18:20:20] <Falerin-nonpresent> No
[18:20:24] <Falerin-nonpresent> 8 Questions remain
[18:20:47] <Coldkick> Is there two keys?
[18:20:51] <Falerin-nonpresent> No
[18:20:56] <Aaron> he already answered that >.>
[18:20:58] <Falerin-nonpresent> 7 Questions Remain
[18:21:13] <Aaron> there is only one key
[18:21:32] <Falerin-nonpresent> Yes 6 qUestions ReMain
[18:22:05] <Aaron> is the key in anyway linked to another puzzle?
[18:22:18] <Falerin-nonpresent> Yes 5 QUESTIONS remain
[18:22:36] <Aaron> is it connected to the last puzzle?
[18:23:40] <Falerin-nonpresent> Yes 4 Questions Remain.. although that was a waste as all of the puzzles are "interconnected" and in that sense I would say yes regardless which puzzle you refered too
[18:24:20] <Aaron> I meant the key, not the puzzle
[18:25:14] <Falerin-nonpresent> The key deals with the theme of repetition, and the puzzle with the theme of similiarity versus commonality
[18:25:42] <Falerin-nonpresent> Hence the fact remains the same regardless
[18:25:53] * Sera|AFK is now known as Seraphiel
[18:26:27] <Aaron> is the key in the word search of the last puzzle
[18:26:50] <Falerin-nonpresent> Negative
[18:26:58] <Falerin-nonpresent> 3 Questions remain.
[18:27:40] <@Skooby> Might I recommend we use the last 3 /very/ wisely?
[18:27:48] <Falerin-nonpresent> Yes
[18:27:52] <Falerin-nonpresent> 2 questions remain
[18:27:56] <@Skooby> o.O
[18:28:04] <@Skooby> Fal, that wasnt aimed at you
[18:28:29] <Falerin-nonpresent> 2 questions remain
[18:29:07] <Clyde> <.<
[18:29:36] <@Skooby> Sorry Clyde........I was talking to the people here, except Fal >.<
[18:29:39] <Falerin-nonpresent> It was a question. You might indeed do that. The question was answered.
[18:30:00] <Falerin-nonpresent> 2 questions remain
[18:30:28] <Falerin-nonpresent> Note I took Aarons earlier statement as a direct question too
[18:30:32] <Aaron> IS the key in any way linked to whoever delivered the word searches of the last puzzle(this includes where those puzzles came from)?
[18:30:58] <Falerin-nonpresent> Yes
[18:31:33] <Falerin-nonpresent> 1 question remains. Again a waste. As the fact that the need for heighten security is what caused the key to be used.
[18:31:43] <Falerin-nonpresent> Therefore the phrase "in any way"
[18:31:51] <Falerin-nonpresent> guaranteed a positive response
[18:32:36] <Falerin-nonpresent> You have 1 minute to formulate your final question
[18:33:15] <@Skooby> o.o
[18:33:50] <Falerin-nonpresent> Declare your final question or forfeit it
[18:34:07] <Aaron> is the key directly linked to where the last puzzle came from?
[18:34:11] <Coldkick> Was the key used in the messages sent after 6/3/2009 9:48:46 ?

^^As requested

Denolth -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 20:22:29)

Guys, you could have asked if the key is the name of a character, or, like asked, but not answered, if the key was posted after a certain date. At least now we know that the key is somewhere in the old puzzles...

Coldkick -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 20:28:07)

I did ask but Aaron beat me by 1/2 a second :P Oh well what were we to do we had to get a question in pretty quick.

final five -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 23:04:11)

can someone summerize whats happened so far cause id like to start helping everyone solve this stuff so just a quick catch up of whats going on would be good

Strange little dude -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 23:24:51)

We have been trying to guess keywords for vigenere cipher
and then fal came and allowed us to ask the yes/no questions (can be seen above)
after that there's pretty much nothing

final five -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/6/2009 23:49:46)

well i gtg already when i get back ill help if its not already done though

Star Paladin -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/7/2009 0:04:43)

Well, I can't wait. But I was expecting the next game to be like AQW, except with MQ things and DF things.

Coldkick -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/7/2009 2:01:54)

Using the Evil Message from Eldron as the key we got this
HAVEN, Y WAJFX, DI YYP, VAO YSHH FN SMMG JBLIJB THRUY TVHCRKS LR LET TOVTNPGRI.
We got If you to equal Haven
Next we decided that the next part was going to be a place so I manually tested it.
HAVEN, A PLACE, NR NOT, FJX AOUN DG ISTG ZFPVEA GWOEA LGAGJQY OF UBQ PSORMKLEM.
Now we think that the NR is just a typo for OR it is only one letter off.
The Key used was ifyouelickb

final five -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/7/2009 2:07:46)

thanks for the update
ill keep trying

eh i wish my computer could do the im thing yall are doing

Coldkick -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/7/2009 9:58:50)

Plus I just discovered that that means that the keyword is 11 characters long, the part if you starts to work again after 11 characters from the beginning of the cipher.
Ex.
IFYOU, E *****,
HAVEN, A ATCMF, | NR NOT, FUF CYV|N DG ISTR HHZW|EA GWOEL TIKH|JQY OF UMY RCP|RMKLEM.
The lines mark the end of the key after each repetition.

Vinger -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/7/2009 18:21:59)

Hey guys,entering the mystery of WarpForce:

Falerin and Eldron made a puzzle only to test us.I think nothing is unintentional.Nothing will go unPUNished.
About the second puzzle,The letter 'P' has a sound similar to 'B'.So,we can read
spoiler:

dark madder's secret lies on purgos AS dark madder's secret lies on burgos
.Burgos is a latin word for city,so instead of thinking about it as a tower,it can be a city too.And that makes much more sense to me.
Haven can also be spoken as Heaven.Somebody on the previous topic said that there was a place of WP called Stairway of Haven.PUN it and we got Stairway to Heaven,a music of Led Zeppelin.

Lord Asrius -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/7/2009 19:29:51)

Burgos is probably just a corruption of purgos anyways.

But the Stairway to Haven would not at all be beyond Fal and his cohorts.

Coldkick -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/7/2009 20:18:33)

furthering my previous assumption that the first word is indeed Haven and the key being ifyou

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/7/2009 20:28:21)

Well, it could be ifyouw or ifyoue.

Hmm... doing ifyou****** makes the fifth word not and the fourth NR.

Coldkick -> RE: =WF= A Mystery Continues (6/7/2009 20:35:27)

NR could possibly be a typo for OR its one letter off and its not impossible to make that mistake when making this cipher.
