Yori -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (7/9/2013 21:55:44)

Oh man, I remember the pain of being an adventurer and waiting for a spot to log on so I could play. Then I convinced my father to pay for the guardian upgrade...and I had the time of my life.

I remember doing the fighter quest and always dying to that level 40 Minotaur.

I remember the Mage Class when it had the elemental spells which happened to be my main source of damage and I still couldn't beat that darn Minotaur

I remember hitting level 40 and unlocking the double attack on my Guardian Plate, which caused me to change my character design to go with the new upgrade.

I remember when my character was first named Harold for some odd reason. Then Blazer, and now my current name.

I remember those times when Undead Mutant was my main damage output and my main attack when farming Carnax....

Those were but simpler times...

Sadly mine only goes back to late '07. However it is interesting to see how slow I lvled and what items stayed in my inventory.

Dec '07 to Oct '08

17 lvl A build change (warrior to beast warrior)
Both an armor and hair color change.
gold/7
A functioning estate[&:]

Things changed but they also stayed the same.

edit:
Yori O' yes constantly refreshing the page hoping for a slot to open up or playing late at night.

Xplayer -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (8/7/2013 12:27:02)

Remember when Vamprook Spyre was the best farming spot for guardians? Those resurrection rolls man, those rolls...

I still like beating up on Leeroy and Friends for the nostalgic lols.

Scorch151 -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (8/7/2013 12:39:24)

I miss my Nightmare Wyvern Rider Armor. That was one of my favorite armors...

greenlegend -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (8/7/2013 12:41:49)

^you can still get it at the Wyvern rider war at the end of the quest.

Mornelith -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (8/7/2013 12:47:00)

I miss my old Hybrid build before the MP cost of spells went through the roof. I ended up selling off most of my spells after that, and switched to a Str/Dex build.

blackelemental -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (8/7/2013 12:47:07)

Here's my main about a year and a half ago. My warrior grew a LOT over the past 2 years compared to today.

Xplayer -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (8/7/2013 12:59:55)

Here's my main the day he became a guardian back in April of 2007. Check that old style guardian plate!

Also, playing around with wayback machine, here's the earliest recorded description of Adventure Quest.

Metal Health -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (8/7/2013 13:00:13)

Lol. Speaking of old times here's a shot of my young character TYRIS being a hybrid, Showing off his eye of carnax weapon prize"Biggest Regret Sell". Also no storage slots. My armors are mostly all class armors for lv 85. Not one uber although I only think the nightmare set was avalible at that time. That snapshot was funny to see to bad I cant go back any further in time.

That old gaurdian plate style rocks IMO.

black knight 1234567 -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (8/7/2013 23:06:41)

I remember when the Nemesis set was the most pointless thing like..ever.
Yet, I still used it.

hict98 -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (8/7/2013 23:08:58)

I remember when Nemesis was the best set ever
I also remember when the "today's event" button took you straight to today's event instead of taking you to a page that had a bunch of places on it like Deren and the Antiguardian event with whatever that week's event is.

blackelemental -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (10/17/2013 13:31:41)

I miss having the Morningstar set in my active inventory. I remember farming like crazy for it and the (O_O) look on my face when I first saw how it looked and the huge damage it dealt.

I kinda miss Nemesis too. The backlash damage reduction saved me a few times at low levels.

Ulquiorra -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (10/19/2013 22:41:11)

The old graphics, carnax war, and of course, Frostvales past

Mr. GoD -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (10/20/2013 20:47:45)

I miss the old dragon slayer skill 10, summon the fire dragon with the silly combo we did using a scrambler beam and ice katana! Good Times!

Senras Wolf -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (10/20/2013 21:36:15)

I remember when Nemesis was the ONLY uber set around and it was worth 2 million gold pieces for the entire set and it was all I ever wanted. Oh, this does this set have history to it. First everyone wanted it, then it was hated, then it middling and now it serves as a neutral armor.... you know what, when I get to the next level tier for this set I'm going to buy it.

I also remember when there weren't so many buttons on the Travel Map and whenever there was a new quest in the south, I felt like it was exploring a whole new undiscovered region. You know I'm surprised we don't have more treasure hunting and archaeology type quests. The things we could learn about Lore.

XxCondemnedXx -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (10/20/2013 23:16:38)

Ahh the good ol days of waiting for a spot to open up on the server
Fond memories of spamming Undead mutant on everything and last but not least when Golden Plate was the best armor in the game

The Jop -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (10/21/2013 0:57:42)

Well, I missed a lot since I was locked out of the game as a free player for a long time, but I remember doing the Seedspitter quest constantly to get bonus potions. Also putting 5 points in every stat and still making it through the game, those were the days.

kaziboca -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (10/21/2013 1:06:36)

I used to wait for a spot to open, then open 5+ tabs all with the "join now" option or whatever it was and leave it open, because once I saved that button the server never denied me

blackelemental -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (11/24/2013 15:49:59)

The war cutscenes are a massive nostalgia trip for me. I still remember my first death in AQ to Nightbane years ago (and how I just died to him right now). It's nice to finally bring in the post-sweep pain. Guardian Nightsever really does a number on dracowerepyres.

Plus, I can still recall farming the Void Dragons quest with Bradakhan at the end back when I was around lvl 90-110ish. It's also pretty nice to take him out once again.

guardian marc -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (11/24/2013 20:14:43)

I remember when E first was introduced with his witty poetic punchlines.. I miss E :/
I also miss the old VampireSlayer armor design. It was so cool!

zerimenzu -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (11/24/2013 21:35:04)

Ah, the old days....

1 mil was a lot of gold and took FOREVER for me to farm. After I got Shadow Cloak, Mjollnir, and the entire Fujin Set, I felt so accomplished.

Shadow Cloak was overpowered and had great resists and defense as well as a consistent and pretty powerful attack. Best buy ever. I used it for so long.

Mjollnir triggered on Earth monsters and also had ridiculous BTH, like Tonbo-Giri. I ended up using Tonbo-giri well into the level 130s.

I felt jypped after the prices were swept and the battle rewards were not.

There was no lucky strike mechanic and I enjoyed the sounds that play when lucky strike activate now since they told me I was doing high damage.

I remember when misc. items were just introduced. I used to think they sucked because I couldn't see the point in using a turn to boost a resistance by 10% at like....level 70.

Nemesis animation....made me not want to fight.

I used to not know the difference between MRM weapons and I'd just buy them based on the damage in the item description. I also didn't care much about elements. I'd have like...3 darkness weapons of each type, a fire bow, and a magic water weapon or something. And I am a warrior.

Stat Trainers were unknown to me until I was about level 30 and realized that my stats never went up and that I was dying in nearly every battle. I had 0 stats in everything for a long time.

People were farming Vince's maze and in Nightbane's Castle and the Leeroy Jenkins place.

The old Soulcarver was so cool at the time. And then, for some reason, my game would freeze whenever its special proc'd. No amount of resetting helped, and it happened on every computer I tried playing on.I had to sell it and get a new darkness weapon...

Prussia -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (11/25/2013 22:14:23)

@Feragho (On page 9)

Actually, I've seen the old elemental symbols for a split second or so occasionally during a battle nowadays. Occasionally, the old ones actually replace the other ones for a turn. They're still there, but the new symbols are coded to appear in the same space and basically cover them up.

However, I still miss my old character. Back then, I loved the Black Axe. I was far younger back then and basically ragequitted when I couldn't get in because of the server limit, as I didn't know about it. That was back in 05/06. I'm trying to somewhat replicate it with my current one, including becoming a necromancer. I actually was freaking out when I couldn't find the weapon, as I forgot it's name.

Wasn't there a variant of the undead knight, though? I recall there being one, with an unique title and comprising of two undead knights, each with a different name, as the title suggested. I wish I could remember what it was called or more about it. If you guys know which one I'm referring to, can you tell me? I would really appreciate it.

I still remember back when Adventure Quest didn't have the under 13 and 13+ groups. You actually had to check a box saying you were at least 13.

Speaking of old users, I tried to access one of my old accounts, but instead I accessed an account that was last used nearly 2,350 days ago! I was amazed.

I also loved "Ask Zorbak". Hate to see that it's gone...

Oliver Bell -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (2/26/2014 3:07:32)

Since this discussion was redirected here by Ultrapowerpie I assume this isn't necro-bumping.

To answer the thread's question, yes I do remember those days, though I was not overly affected since I could usually log on, a great perk of living in the UK was that at lunchtime most people in the east US are just getting up; so were not logged on. Never created a new account just to play though, even when I couldn't get on, largely as I could hardly remember the log in details for one account.

Frost Moglin -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (2/26/2014 8:20:01)

I remember when I grinded Vinces Maze for gold so long that I actually remembered some pathways to go for fastest completion
And I also remember the Server Full times. I think that the Server Full page had some image featuring a beach, Artix and someone else possibly.

RMC -> RE: =AK= The Ultimate Nostalgia thread (2/26/2014 8:31:26)

Oh god , i've seen that page so many times that i still remeber the melody that came with it [:)]
