Yes, the gems on both would switch.

Jakau Ryuu -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/1/2009 14:00:30)

The WG Blaster Rifle is interesting, but it looks slightly awkward when equipped. Still, it makes a bit more sense to have a rifle than a boomerang when you're running around in a low-gravity or no-gravity environment with little to no air.
And the concept of a fully color-customized weapon, with recolored gems... that'd be interesting to see.

My WF primary, who's kinda following a hybrid build.
My WF secondary, with under-trained stats.

Zephyros -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/1/2009 14:33:05)

Another note about Gunners, Nightly, that you might be interested in... I'm talking to Aelthai, and we've worked out that DEX/LUK/END would be a "pure gunner," and is a very very workable build. You'll set yourself up in Defensive armors, and while you might be a little weak on the attack compared to other builds, you'll make up for that in survivability.

DEX/LUK/CHA would be a beastgunner (botgunner? xenogunner (xenomorph/alien)?), and while you'll do slightly more damage than a striker per turn, you'll be paying each turn for the guest.

DEX/LUK/INT would be an engineer, and you'll pay Energy to use the techs to deal big damage.

As have I :D, She's a fun person.

For right now, the stats don't really mean much to any player, due to the fact that all of the monsters are relatively easy to beat. I figured that out by my choice to only work on my stats when I reach the level cap so that I only have to do fight Tronzor in one sweep instead of 10.

Anyway's those builds obviously aren't really effective at the moment since you don't need CHA for pets, and compared to Sticks and Guns, the Skills and Techs are a rather useless group to invest into. Unless there will be some Magic, I don't have another word for it for WP, weapon, then the Engineer build gets thrown out as well.

So really, there is only four builds that are plausible right now.

Pure's obviously, and then a high END version of both of those builds. Any spin-offs would be, at current, a waste of stat points.

Zephyros -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/1/2009 15:02:28)

We need more techs and beastmaster pets for those builds to be viable, we know. We're working on it.

And no, Magic weapons will be very, very rare. They simply don't work right in space. Guns fill that niche for engineers -- 75% damage, exactly the same as a Magic weapon in AQ, except you're expected to have DEX. In WF, a Magic weapon (when you can find it) will preferred by somebody who trains INT but not DEX, and will be equal to a gun for somebody who trains both.

Okay, then all that is left to do is wait :P

Bu Kek Siansu -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/1/2009 15:20:08)

westwind: It could be nice if you add a Black Skin and this Hair Style into Tronzor's database? Thanks! :p

mluther -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/1/2009 16:02:19)

about the gunner builds, couldn't they be called sniper and technomancer?
There's also the charisma dexterity luck build which is only possible thanks to guns sense we don't need intellect or strength for weapon damage.

Besjbo -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/1/2009 16:03:48)

@westwind: There is something about guns I don't understand. As far as I know, guns don't get stats, so they get higher Base and Random on armors to compensate. This still doesn't completely make up for lack of damage, but it helps. Sticks do get stats, but they get lower Base and Random on armors to compensate. They still do better with offensive stats, though. So Strikers are characters that deal high player damage, and Gunners deal low player damage but are either very defensive or deal high pet damage. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this. So here's the problem: on all the armors currently in-game, the Melee attack has higher Base and Random than the Ranged attack. How is this fair? Now, strikers get more damage by default, AND they get stats. Theoretically, they could go without STR and do better than gunners, because armors favor Strikers in terms of raw damage. How is this balanced?

gems360 -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/1/2009 16:15:10)

What is a good build for a Striker?

Nightly -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/1/2009 16:17:23)

gems360

Well it depends on what level you are, and how many stat points you have.

Dexterity doesn't increase damage.

EDIT: no problem

Bu Kek Siansu -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/1/2009 16:36:50)

Fixed! Thanks, mluther! :p

Aelthai -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/1/2009 21:24:11)

At low levels, the amount that Stats are worth is very, very small compared to the amount Base/Random is worth - and Guns are supposed to, overall, always be a little behind Sticks if you train STR.

Also, most armors have a Weapon Throw or the like, which gets Melee-type BRS but requires you to use different Stats.

As it happens, Gun and Melee BRS is equal at Level 18, and Guns pass Melee BR at Level 19.

nosey123 -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/1/2009 22:49:10)

...i think i will just keep my build of 60 dex and 40 str. [&:]

Aelthai -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/2/2009 0:26:44)

That's quite a reasonable start to e Melee build.

moneybags -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/2/2009 0:48:56)

@Aelthai: So its kinda like this?:

Fire gun: Additional BtH from DEX
Throw weapon etc.: Added damage from STR (even if its a gun?)
Weapon strike: Added damage from STR

Besjbo -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/2/2009 1:03:33)

Does anyone know if there are plans in the future to let WarpGuardians change their no-drop weapons for a small fee, effectively letting them switch from Striker to Gunner? Also, are there any plans for putting an un-trainer in WF?

Shiftmad95 -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/2/2009 1:06:11)

i cant find release

Rozion -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/2/2009 1:08:21)

Shift mad - I dont think the release comes out untill the middle of the mounth. (around 2nd-3rd week, i think.)

moneybags -> RE: =WF= Release is Live! (8/2/2009 1:10:45)

@Besjbo: Only the staff knows the answer to that question
