~JW~ -> RE: "Gender" Profile Field (8/31/2010 18:01:11)

Id say dont add it because sometimes it can get funny [8D]

Miroku Kazaana II -> RE: "Gender" Profile Field (9/11/2010 0:53:29)

@JW
That's just mean.

I say add it. What's the harm? We could say the wrong thing, get corrected, and move on. Or we could take a glance at the profile first. It wouldn't hurt anything.

Ajagaga -> RE: "Gender" Profile Field (9/12/2010 12:15:46)

When people do it on purpose it is almost always for a really weird reason but that usually never happens so it s almost always just asking, My name is Ajamara and I have been mistaken for a guy several times

Wyonna -> RE: "Gender" Profile Field (9/13/2010 6:50:47)

What I have asked myself when seeing this thread many times, has been, "How will this benefit the Forums?"

DeathEater82 -> RE: "Gender" Profile Field (9/13/2010 21:35:32)

What?

How?

So I'll just go up to this fourm person and say YOUR NOT COOL CAUSE YOUR A GIRL!

......

Lol. I think this could be helpful. I've insulted people by calling them a He when there a girl or a she when there a boy.

Chii -> RE: "Gender" Profile Field (9/13/2010 22:25:29)

Actually, it's more like

so i see ur a grrl. can i haf pics? wanna b my gf?

Ashari -> RE: "Gender" Profile Field (9/13/2010 22:41:38)

^ This sums it up. I get enough BF (and some GF o.O) requests in-game as it is. I don't want my gender publicized here too. If you really need to know for a legitimate reason (besides semantics, just use s/he or him/her), then you can PM the person, but otherwise you really don't need to know.

RasLuine -> RE: "Gender" Profile Field (9/29/2010 22:55:45)

Well you have to look at the other side as well, some people can get really offended if you make a mistake like confusing their gender.
How would you feel if I called you a Dude?

Perhaps this isn't a problem for people with custom avatars but for lets say a girl who uses a symbol as an avatar this could cause her some embarrasment...

I used to have long hair and Ive been confused by a girl many times before, its not something that feels very nice.

This is just equal in both terms there really isn't a wrong answer, implementing it or not implementing this would bring the same result in the end.

He Who Lurks -> RE: "Gender" Profile Field (9/30/2010 20:19:28)

The addition of a gender profile would be supplemental for the profile field. I can see a forum member being misguided towards one's own gender and causing a major mistake.

Most of the fields---IF not all on these forums can be field out or not depending on your decision. In other words, we are not forcing you to enter any information you wouldn't want anyone to know. A gender field would also be essential for the OCC board of this forum as the field may be quite the trinket to have designed for these type of sections or/and boards.

RasLuine -> RE: "Gender" Profile Field (9/30/2010 21:24:29)

OOC good point, and yeah it could be optional.
I believe am running out of common sense lately, but in my humble opinion this is something that should be at the to do list at best, not something urgent that should take priority.
Like my suggestion, like my suggestion...
