9001WaysToLaugh -> Name change? (8/5/2010 23:03:02)

Is it possible to get a name change on the forums? I hate my current name. Also I havn't been on these forums in a while, is there any way to tell how close I am to getting banned? I rememberd getting loads of warnings.

According to the Staff and ArchKnights List, Seahawk is responsible for changing your forum name. You only get one rename, so make sure you really want the new name, nobody else already has the name, and you have a good reason. If, after all that, you're sure you still want the name change, then send him a PM and ask nicely. But remember that he's a busy hawk, so please be patient!

Well, I think the best thing you could do if you are curious is to PM a moderator and politely ask if you can see your warning history. That should give you some indication at least. For a list of Moderators and other forum staff and forum staff assistants: AE Staff and Staff Assistants List

Seahawk Changes you password when you have been Re-Named to a new name.

DragonYugi -> RE: Name change? (8/6/2010 9:59:21)

Not true, AnnoyingOrange. Moderators do NOT change your password.

Alpha Atom -> RE: Name change? (8/6/2010 10:28:11)

No, he's right, when you get a name change, Seahawk changes your password to something random after it has taken effect.

Postmaster General -> RE: Name change? (8/6/2010 11:37:21)

That's correct. To quote Seahawk in this thread.

quote:

Yes, having your name changed on the forums does indeed require your password to change. I can't keep it what it originally was, because while I can change passwords, I can't see what they currently are. So when your forum name is changed, you end up with a password inspired by some random object in my computer room...

This is yet another reason why it's very important to make sure you use a valid email address when registering for the forums, and also that you make sure to change your email address in your profile if you change emails or stop using an email account. IF your email is no good, your name change notification PM with your new temporary password will bounce back as undeliverable and you'll be unable to log in.

Just to expand a bit more, in this thread, Seahawk explains why he changes your password:

That happened to me. I had to check my E-mail in order to find out what he changed it to. So...yeah...Then:
