Tips for Info Submission

(1) Use the Index within each section of the Encyclopedia for an easier and faster way to look for items.(2) Maximum file size for submitted pictures is 100KB.

(3) When posting about an item, include all information that is visible in-game. Some basic information can be found on the AQ Info pages. Also, actually write out the stats - posts like "Here's the new item: [image of stats]" become completely unreadable if the image is taken down.

(4) If you are posting stats that are not visible in-game (like weapon Special rates or damage from armors), then be sure to cite the person who gave you the stats. If you are posting estimates, then you must clearly state that they are estimates.

(5) Double posting is only allowed if your previous post was dealt with and signed by an ArchKnight.

(6) Spoilers are needed if they reveal a key plot point(s), reveal directions or map for a specific quest, or if the specific item or such is being enforced with spoiler tags in AQ General Discussion. These spoilers will last for the same amount of time that they are enforced in the AQ General Discussion. Examples listed below are for example only and do NOT reveal anything upcoming.
(6a) Plot Point: Yulgar being killed off, Hero turning evil for no reason or Battleon itself burning down.
(6b) Map/Directions: Layout for the Celtic set quest or any similar quest.
(6c) When in doubt, check AQ General Discussion. If spoilers are being ENFORCED there, then use them here too.

[url=http://www.battleon.com/aq-guardian.asp][img]http://media.artix.com/encyc/AQ/AQPedia2/Tags/Guardian.jpg[/img][/url]
Description: Items with this Tag are only available to Guardian characters. Should also be used to mark shops that sell only guardian items.
Align: Above title with same alignment.

This tag only applies to the item's current status, regardless of whether or not Adventurers could buy the item in the past. This is to prevent newer Adventurers from thinking they can obtain the item, when in fact they can't.

This is different than what is used in the AQ Info pages. There, "Guardian" means that the item never could have been obtained by Adventurers in any way, and (if, somehow, an Adventurer obtained one) that an Adventurer cannot equip such an item. On character sheets, such items are marked in red.

[img]http://media.artix.com/encyc/AQ/AQPedia2/Tags/Rare.jpg[/img]
[img]http://media.artix.com/encyc/AQ/AQPedia2/Tags/Rare.jpg[/img]
Description: These are not available in shops anymore. There is currently no way to obtain the item.
Align: Above title with same alignment (should be the last tag in the line).

Note: Seasonal rares (E.g. Frostval, Mogloween items etc.) will not have their rare tags removed during the period they are available, as the items will eventually be removed for a prolonged period of time after the event again.

[img]http://media.artix.com/encyc/AQ/AQPedia2/Tags/Temp.jpg[/img]
[img]http://media.artix.com/encyc/AQ/AQPedia2/Tags/Temp.jpg[/img]
Description: These can be found through certain quests/dropped by certain monsters. They will remain with your character and can be used until you either log out or get another temporary item of the same kind.
Align: Above title with same alignment (should be the first tag in the line, unless an event banner is being used).

[img]http://media.artix.com/encyc/AQ/AQPedia2/Tags/SO.jpg[/img]
[img]http://media.artix.com/encyc/AQ/AQPedia2/Tags/SO.jpg[/img]
Description: These items were/are obtained by some method other than by directly buying the item from a shop. Examples include Donations, forum contests, buying specific Artix Entertainment t-shirts, etc.
Align: Above title with same alignment (after guardian but before z-token tags).

[img]http://media.artix.com/encyc/AQ/AQPedia2/Tags/Z-Token.jpg[/img]
[url=http://www.battleon.com/aq-tokens.asp][img]http://media.artix.com/encyc/AQ/AQPedia2/Tags/Z-Token.jpg[/img][/url]
Description: Items with this tag can be bought or sold for Z-Tokens. On character sheets, such items are marked in blue. Z-Token items bought before June 15, 2017 will also have a diamond next to them.
Align: Above title with same alignment (after guardian or special offer tags).

«Event Banners»
Description: Marks a seasonal event or item.
Align: Above title with same alignment (For items, should be the first tag in the line, before the temporary tag. For quests, should be added on a line below other tags).

General Guide to Pedia Screenshots

  • Some picture uploading sites that can be used:
**(i) www.photobucket.com Until the issue with 3rd party hosting has subsided please do NOT use photobucket when submitting pictures.
    **(ii) www.tinypic.com
    **(iii) www.picturepush.com/upa
    **(iiii) www.imgur.com

**Please DO NOT use imageshack for uploading pictures. That site has a habit of deleting old pictures. Also note that photobucket now has a limit on how many pics a free account can have embedded on other sites, so your images won't show if you go over that limit.

    (1) All screenshots must be taken in high graphics quality. The preferred screen size (one chosen on the battleon.com homepage) is 640x480. 800x600 is the maximum. Make sure you're browsers zoom is set to 100% when taking screenshots.

    (2) Encyclopedia Screenshot Standards
    • Focus/Proper Cropping
Crop the image so that the focus (center the object) is on what the entry is for. Make sure to take the screenshot on a contrasting background (fire on ice, light on dark), so that the item is easy to see and doesn't blend into the background. Anything other than the object of the screenshot can be cropped out.

      Examples
      (i) uncropped
      (ii) poorly cropped
      (iii) cropped
      (iv) preferred.

Note: If the screenshot isn't for a guest, pet, or shield, they should not be in the screenshot.

    • Use Unobtrusive Items
For weapons/shields, use the least obtrusive items to provide a nice, clear image. Further details are provided below.

    • Animated Screenshots
Still shots are good enough for the Encyclopedia. Animated screenshots are not necessary for the Encyclopedia; should one be posted it must be in .gif format and below 50kbs. Though it may meet said standards, the likelihood of it being added are very slim, because it is not necessary, and may also be a hindrance to those with a slower internet connection while they browse the entry.

    • Edits on Screenshots
In general, edits are not allowed. Do not add a fancy border to or sign your name on your image. Only simple edits - like rotating the image or adding a border - are allowed. Zooming in on an image is generally not allowed, but will be allowed if the item is unusually small (like the Dragon Fighter).

      Examples
      (i) Bad Edit
      (ii) Good Edit.

If an item can transform, then you can create a "collage" image, as was done for the Duality weapons.
    (3) Save your screenshots in a file size compressing graphics format, i.e. JPEG or GIF. If possible, some editing programs have a “Save for Web” option that will compress it.

Refrain from saving images in a .png format as it preserves the image quality the best, but is not so efficient in compressing file sizes within the stated size limit below, and isn't compatible in all browser windows.

    (4) A file size of <100 kb helps to facilitate the use of image tags (less lag for those on dial-up too). If saving as a .jpeg doesn’t achieve this, try making the image smaller. Some image sites allow you to view a smaller "thumbnail" image. If the image is too big, then you can use a thumbnail and then link to the full image (e.g. 11th Day of Frostval).

**(i) Photobucket: Add th_ before the filename to create a thumbnail. For example, BigPic.gif becomes th_BigPic.gif
**(iii) ImageShack or TinyPic: Add .th after the filename. For example, BigPic.gif becomes BigPic.th.gif

    (5) Images of weapon specials, pet/guest/armor attacks, and class abilities are not necessary. They will not be added.

Special thanks to Pae, Reens, SCAKK and Suikoman444.
edited 3 and 4, redid 2 ~Pae, later filled in Quests and Events
added the thing about animated screenshots to the mix -Nix
    Added notice on photobucket. ~DD

    Specific Screenshot Standards

Below, you will find tips on how you can more effectively take a good screenshot for an entry. Each section has its different requirements, so read carefully.

    Armors
Use the idle stance while making sure no weapon and/or shield are visible or that any pets obstruct the view; don't take a screenshot when it's attacking. If the armor can transform (e.g. Razor Plate), please take a screenshot of both.

    Houses
Take a picture of each major scene of the house. This usually includes inside, outside, the picture frame, the estate, etc.

    Estate Items
If the item's image changes based on its Level, then take one picture for each change. You can see the items on the AQ Info Pages, and you can see the different "levels" by clicking on the image.

    House Guards
Take the image of the guard in your guard hut. Try not to have any other guards in the image.

    Paintings
Use the painting viewer to zoom-in on the painting, before taking a picture for any such entry.

    Miscellaneous/Accessories
Take the screenshot when the item is activated: either in the upper lefthand corner, or below your HP/MP/SP bars

    Monsters
Show the entire monster in the game screen, and include the HP and MP bars. (e.g. Mutant Natator)

    NPCs
Try to take a screenshot of the entire NPC, without the dialogue boxes obstructing it, unless there is really no choice. Use high quality (for slightly slower-processing computers) to attempt slowing the appearance of dialogue boxes to take the NPC's picture. For huge images, use a thumbnail instead. Instructions on how to make a picture into a thumbnail is in the General Guides post, right above this.

    Pets/Guests
Take a screenshot of the pet/guest without anything in the way. If the focus is on a pet, don't have a guest. If the focus is on a guest, don't have a pet. If the character doesn't have Invisibility Cloak and a weapon without a graphic (e.g. Fist of Legend), then click the 'Attack' and immediately take a screenshot when the character is out of the way.

You can also use high quality (for slower-processing computers). Change an armor, and take an image of the pet/guest at the instant when your armor is still loading. Another way is to get a picture when you are attacking and no longer on the same side as the pet/guest.

    Quests and Events
Images are usually unnecessary, except for wars, where an image of the war camp will be appreciated. If the town itself has changes during any events, do post it as well! An example would be Frostval 2007 (where Battleon turned into a nightmarish version of it), or during other Frostval festivals itself, where Battleon becomes snowy.

    Shields
Recommended: Take a screenshot of the shield using Invisibility Cloak. If not, take it using your default armors (Steel/Guardian Plate). If the shield has a trigger with a visible change (e.g. Undead Terror), please take a screenshot of both.

Ensure your weapon is not blocking the shield. If all your weapons happen to get in the way, try to make an attempt to take a screenshot when your weapon is loading.

    Spells
Spell images should focus on the attack animation and should be taken at the most developed point of the spell.

    Weapons
You should not have a shield equipped. Preferably, do take your screenshot in an Invisibility Cloak. If it isn't in the character's inventory, at least make sure that the armor isn't similarly colored.

If the weapon has a trigger with a visible change (e.g. Perfect Monster Smasher), please include a screenshot of both its triggered and untriggered state. If the Attack menu is in the way, click 'Hide Menu' and take the screenshot.

    In summary:
    (1) The Invisibility Cloak is very useful in taking images of your character's weapon, shield, guest and pet.

    (2) The Fist of Legend or Basic Fist will be helpful in taking images of your shield especially, and your guest.

    (3) File sizes should never exceed 100kb, and is preferably in a JPEG format.

    (4) Always focus on the item in your image!

    SpellStat% = (200+13.2*PowLvl)%

The way the VStat works is that it's added onto the Assist's Base and Random. So:

    AssistBase = 0.85*(SpellBase + SpellStat%*VStat/3/4)
    AssistRand = 0.85*(SpellRand + SpellStat%*VStat/3/4)
    AssistStat% = 0[/ul]EFFECT
