B9000 -> Physical Staff Discussion (3/4/2011 17:05:43)

Regarding mages using a sword if they want to have phys primary strikes (though this is somewhat of a balance issue that affects mages using energy swords as well). There is a pretty big issue with the number of skills that become unusable when a sword is equipped. It isn't just that mages can't use 6 of their skills, but due to the layout of the skill tree mages must waste a lot of skill points with a sword. Typically sword wielding mages will have both reroute and deadly aim. This requires 4 wasted skill points: bludgeon, plasma bolt, overload, and plasma rain must be selected but are still unusable. This is very different from mercs, which waste 0 skill points if they use a sword (maul and atom smasher are conveniently out of the way). BHs must waste 1 skill point (cheapshot) when using a sword, as massacre and poison are also conveniently out of the way. Mages really get a bad deal on this one.

To rectify this I would recommend connecting deadly aim to reroute (with a diagonal line) rather than have plasma rain as the prerequisite. Alternatively switching the location of deadly aim and supercharge would also work. This would make bludgeon the only wasted skill point for a sword wielding mage.

Just to throw this out there as well, it might be a good idea to alter bludgeon to become bludgeon/pommel-strike (usable by sword wielding mages). I understand 'spells' requiring a staff, but does smashing someone with the bottom of your weapon really require a staff? :D. This would help cut down on the extreme number of skills that are unusable for a mage with a sword. Currently swords benefit mercs way more than any other class, which shouldn't be the case for a non class-specific weapon. Mages with a sword lose their only % boosted attack and defense ignoring move (bludgeon and supercharge). BHs lose their only ones as well (cheapshot, and massacre). While mercs do lose maul, they still have two defense ignoring moves (bunker & mult - though not primary related), and two % boosted attacks (double strike and berzerker). I think making a club required for either double strike (making a wasted skill point when using a sword as other classes must have - cheapshot and plasma bolt), or berzerker. However making a club required for both would probably be going too far.

She ment " Cinderella" and I dont understand how people can say "mages cant have physical staves". How do you even know what they are and are not suppose to have IT'S A GAME, kinda defeats the purpose of imagination if you try to make something unrealistic seem realistic.

xxmirxx -> Physical Staff Discussion (3/4/2011 17:15:28)

above i agree with you

Nebula -> Physical Staff Discussion (3/4/2011 17:25:22)

@B9000 A good idea would be to switch Assimilation and Deadly Aim. Or maybe have all three 4th-tier skills be unlockable via reroute. Both ways mean that Mages don't have to waste skill points to get to Deadly Aim if they don't want to use casting skills. Mages do get the short end of the stick with primary weapons and their skill tree.

Gree -> Physical Staff Discussion (3/4/2011 17:26:28)

@ Angels: Mages were asking about physical staves in Alpha. Mages happened to be on the good side of the balance equation at the time so it probably didn't seem needed.

Snaipera -> Physical Staff Discussion (3/4/2011 17:58:46)

If the devs wish to Not add physical staffs , well then MAGES WISH that the devs REMOVE AND NEVER RELEASE AGAIN energy bounty hunter blades . Period . Sorry guys , balance before all ,right [;)]

eragonshadeslayer67 -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/4/2011 18:26:03)

Yes, yes,yes! mage need physical staves, before we got assimilation I was alright with physical swords but assimilation is 50 times better than people give it credit for [;)]

(phys. overlord staff is pretty I guess but it's only 1, not much variety and it's pretty outdated)

Avantir -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/4/2011 19:04:45)

I may be a Mercenary, but I find it unfair that TMs don't get many Physical Staffs.

Give it to them, please.

Algorithm -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/4/2011 19:05:08)

I could really create various efficient strategic type builds with physical staffs.

xxmirxx -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 0:01:43)

above agree

BlueKatz -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 1:09:27)

OMG I JUMT PHYSCIAL STAFFFF

is that enough for demanding :I

voidance -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 1:12:42)

It's ok if you make them all varuim ile be glad to waste money on them.[:D]

Light Stridr -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 9:09:49)

@voidance:
So BHs and Mercs can get both types of class specific without varium, but mages must pay to a single physical staff? Sound fair to you?
I'd say wait until the bazaar opens, then we talk some more.

BlueKatz -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 9:42:21)

Add 2 high level weapons for Mer and BH (mainly BH)
10 Physical staffs for Mage
and maybe some hard to farm Robot (1 or 2 will be great... we have too less)

yeah, I think that would be great, solve 1/4 problems of current gameplay

saaaaaaaaaaaaa -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 10:00:45)

We tms definitely need physical staffs! that is one of the main factors to our hard strat skills

King FrostLich -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 10:30:17)

Can any of you realise that having a physical staff is just like bludgeon in its weaker form?

TurkishIncubus -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 10:41:20)

^

bludgeon take 10 energy , and its blockable , after bludgeon blocked and we want physical strike what we will do? , and in my opinion mages should use energy unblockables for being strong.

Giras Wolfe -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 12:39:54)

@Frostlich

Yes, just like for mercinarys double strike is just a slightly stronger strike. Whats wrong with that?

@B9000

I agree, you skill tree should be arranged to accommodate sword mages, just like ours easily accomidate sword builds.

I also think we should add physical magestaffs, INCLUDING a nonvarium physical magestaff. Varium mages have one meagere level 31 physical staff, and nonvarium ones have none. (Not that anyone cares, because this game is unplayable for nonvarium.)

voidance -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 13:22:45)

Ok our one and only Physical staff is varuim and theres like 5 non-varuim staffs out there thats better then it, thats how bad it is. (i think even if it was non-varuim people still wouldnt buy it)

Giras Wolfe -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 13:26:39)

@Voidance

You're kidding right? Name the 5.

*Looks up the overlord staff*
Wow, that is WEAK. Maybe you're right. O.O

voidance -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 13:33:51)

Ok maybe its more like 3 and uh Frozen Horror Staff, Caden's Wrath, and Apprentice Staff.

xxmirxx -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 15:17:10)

i have use those staff you are talk about there not as good. are you guys for getting that if merc can use new skill to reduce energy attacks and bountys can use energy sheild. and that phyiscal staff that they sell it suks who would buy that one.

Snaipera -> RE: Physical Staff Discussion (3/5/2011 15:33:06)

If anyone else in this topic mentions Overlord staff , I swear I'm going to poke his/her right eye out ! WAKE UP GUYS . Take a look at all the overlord weapons
