Cinderella -> RE: Food for thought (5/25/2011 12:12:05)

I just want to clear something up about the Stun Guns- they're not supposed to be an overpowered Must-Have, because we had complaints about the promo items being OP. We wanted it to be unique and usable, rather than a game-changer.

Sageofpeace -> RE: Food for thought (5/25/2011 12:16:29)

@Maybe Cindy but i am pretty sure that other with the same ability will follow

They could be at least the power level they should be for the level they are. They are the same as Charfade which is one level lower. We can add!

Lord/Fredd -> RE: Food for thought (5/25/2011 16:53:18)

The Stun Gun isnt OP, and not ment to, its just fun that you have a chance to stun using a gun and unique :D

So let me get this straight, you had some complaints from people who play for free about the promos which people pay for that in turn pay the wages of the people working on the game and the servers that house them, and the answer around the boardroom table was stick it to the customers? Hmmm… Ok, I don’t understand it from any angle (economics or logic) but ok, moving on.

Why would you sell us a level 33 gun with level 32 stats for $50? <----- This I would love an answer to.

I am going to put it out there one more time and then I will shut up about it. Please, Please, Please! If you listen to nothing else, listen to this. You can write me off, call me a troll, tell yourself that Vick Vega guy is simply an A… mouthy person. Can you really write off the entire community as just some ungrateful lot? The reason I ask is this. There are 45 posts of people dissatisfied with this promo for various reasons and two that are half neutral/positive. Want a great statistic? I asked the two people I could find that had anything remotely good about the way the promo was handled if they bought them and the answer was…. You guessed! No! See the problem. It’s not about SOME people didn’t like it. You didn’t please anyone! The people who bought it are either disgusted or at best Ehhhh…. And the free players are still complaining even though we got shafted! The timing of the nerf to stun coinciding with a stun based gun (whether it was to nerf mercs or not) was pitiful! Lastly, I would like to say this, YOU set these expectations! You have consistently released above average items as the promos and that is what the community has come to expect and either you baited and switched us or these were just a very poorly executed promo from the beginning. It is like McDonald's changing the french fries! If in fact you were just trying to be artsy and creative with the stun addition and did not want the gun to be an actual level 33 item. Maybe you should have done one of two things.. Kept them level 32 or saved this type of creativity for the limited items that cost us 10$ instead of 50$. Maybe both.

You may think I am not trying to be constructive but I will tell you that is not the case. I have watched people rant on these forums about “I’m bout to quit if blah blah blah” a few go and most don’t, big deal who cares. But, in the last couple months, I have watched the language of players I have played with for what over two years now, and the language is changing. They say things like “I am really considering taking a break” I am not talking about noobs, I am talking about big $ spenders that support this game substantially and monthly. Another scary indicator that you may want to consider is this. Have you noticed that the wall flowers who wouldn’t say boo to anyone have been on the forums and complaining about the same things in softer fashion that we the loud mouths are? Hmmmm…..

Sageofpeace -> RE: Food for thought (5/26/2011 8:56:15)

@Vick there is only one reason and that is to make profit thats all the care about it

Polandor -> RE: Food for thought (5/26/2011 8:59:24)

The gun should be added in the game, at 12k credit and 995 varium Or less.

Smackie El Frog -> RE: Food for thought (5/26/2011 10:38:22)

+1 Vick Vega

Synbad Syndicated -> RE: Food for thought (5/26/2011 11:18:37)

+2 for vick
i feel ashamed for paying to play now. i wish i can force myself to believe this game has no potential.

Shadronica -> RE: Food for thought (5/26/2011 18:53:46)

This game has plenty of potential phrax. We just need to get Artix Entertainment to stop making us subsidise all their other games.

Especially considering that the other games do not support EpicDuel.

Cinderella -> RE: Food for thought (5/26/2011 19:25:48)

@Vick- what do you want me to do? I'm sorry that the stun gun is not up to your expectations. We're also not selling it for $50, it's a freebie that comes with the package.

Liz Vicious -> RE: Food for thought (5/26/2011 20:29:08)

Very interesting post this one. My demographic is this: I'm a Beta player and working adult. It's very easy for me to get out my visa card, punch in it's details and convert them into some weapon or other. But, this is something I haven't done for some time, based upon principle primarily. You have a game at present with a jaded and cynical paying user base and, that should alarm you and make you think. You can't alienate your customers, forum debate is proof of this. There is an old adage 'The customer is always right' And if a customer is dissatisfied they shop elsewhere. Perhaps the perspective is that through game expansion, new players will replace old ones so it doesn't matter that its a mere factor of numbers and economics. If that were the case then that's a very sad perspective indeed.

Awww... I am hurt and disappointed. You have confirmed that there is no hope. Tragic! So, one of two things happened here. Either you didn't actually read my post prior to responding. Or, this was an attempt to put this back onto me personally in an attempt to defuse the issue.

Let me break down your response into its components and reply to each part individually.

quote:

I'm sorry that the stun gun is not up to your expectations.

I thought I was clear but I can elaborate for you. Although they do not meet my standards, that's not what I said. I said, no one gave you positive feedback other than a few people who didn't even buy them. So it is the gaming community at large that was disappointed. The other part that I stated, that you did a great job avoiding in your reply was that it isn't expectations so much as it was the pre-established game mechanics have been set down that were not honored. They are not on par with an increase from a level 32 weapon to a level 33 weapon. They also do not meet the expectations that the gaming community has been given for promotional items.

quote:

We're also not selling it for $50, it's a freebie that comes with the package.

Ok, unless you added this as a disclaimer as suggested by your legal department, spare me. Please don't insult my, your, or the players at larges intelligence. Do you really want to see a debate breakout in these forums over the difference between tangible and intangible items (sales vs promo) I think that's a bad road to go down personally. So I will be very plain with this one, 99% (more like %100) of the people who bought this item were not meandering around saying "you know what, I need some varium!" You know how I know this? Because you haven't released anything that people would need $50 in varium to purchase since the last promo. So please don't think that everyone isn't quite aware that the reason for people to buy this package is to get these guns.

Let's assume that you poorly worded your response and what you meant to say was something like this...

@Vick Thanks for purchasing the $50 varium package to get these promo and a good chunk of varium. Sorry to hear you aren't satisfied with them. What do you think should have been different about them?
To that. I could have left out the Epic response above and said something like this...

Well Cinderella, thanks for asking! They are 1 level higher than the level 32 gun that was released which has 32 damage and a total stats of 26. The item before that was Level 31 having 31 damage and total of 23 stats. Now, keep in mind that this is a high end promo item. I am going to say that it is within reason to look at these stats and come up with the Stun guns being 34 damage (added 1 to the normal being that they are a promo item and I didn't feel like it would be a game changer) and 29 total stats <-- I didn't even add any more than the natural game progression on this number in order to keep them from being OP for a Level 33 sidearm!
So, this is why I didn¡¦t make the statement. "These don't meet my expectations!" What I said is...

Why did you sell (by sell I mean offer as a "free" items with $50 varium purchase) a level 33 gun with level 32 stats(made worse by the fact that it is a high end promotional item).

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 9:47:43)

@Vega

If the gun is not very useful because of other guns with similar stat values, then no one in his/her right mind would buy the $50 package to get those guns. Rather they are freebies; so people who would buy the 10k varium package anyway would get more for their money, and as greater incentive to get the 10k varium package compared to say the 5k one. I understand that this was the promotional system during the so-called goldern era of EpicDuel?

Smackie El Frog -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 9:48:45)

/\ This is NOT the golden era of ED. That Era fell with the coming of Gamma.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 9:51:04)

@Frog

Not this, then. The mid to late Beta period.

Smackie El Frog -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 10:02:26)

Ahh my bad! I read it wrong xD. I blame the coffee for not doing its job! Hmm there were only 2 promotional weapons during beta though. Bunny and Rixty. The other one I can remember was the Marauder bike. Still anything that comes with a varium package should be elite. Especially when it comes only with the 10k Package.

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 10:04:48)

@above
u forgot founder and beta weps (early beta)

Smackie El Frog -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 10:44:28)

I'm talking about high level promotional items. Betas are great but they are level 25 and so is Founder's Armor.

Chosen 0ne -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 11:36:25)

screaming eagle bike aswell???

Smackie El Frog -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 11:41:28)

Was it? I can't remember if it was or wasn't. Was it like marauder that any varium package would give it to you? Anway the Liberty gear are basically my favorites(sword and bike). Not a big fan of the aux, but the red white and blue is epic.

Vick Vega -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 12:13:45)

I was really just trying to be honest. Look at my post history since 2009. I may be abrasive but I am not a flake threatening to leave over every unanswered request. Let me put it in other terms. My earliest game I played with AE was AQ. I spent hundreds on Z-Tokens. I think I still have like 100k of them. When ED came around I toyed with a founder account, waited to see how it would pan out, made a few more accounts and have spent every dime on maintaining 4 accounts in ED since, until now. I made an account in every AE game a long time ago and never played any of them. I upgraded an AQW account in 2009 to a member account and never even played that. I have spent tons of money on Ed during this time, even in Heromart. I am not bragging about the amount I have spent. Many other people have spent a lot more than I have. What I am saying is that the consistent practice I have described of selling us a feature or item and nerfing the other side has worn on me and the promo was really a turning point (a last straw so to speak). Recently I ugraded my AQW account, bought a couple hundred dollars in AQW coins, spent $150 on Herosmash, bought the HS T-shirt. Again, I am not trying to boast my spending habits. I am trying to tell you that for 3 years you have gotten all my $ and that is changing. So what? You can afford lose Vick Vega. I am not foolish enough to think that ED needs me around. I am a manager by trade, I can guess the shop talk… “Forumites”. I know how it goes. On top of that I am intelligent enough to know that all the funds are going to one big AE pool. BUT! How many Vick Vegas can ED lose before AE loses ED? It is a question worth asking. Don’t you think? Again, the answer may be all of them. Reason: If the oldtimers that are big spenders and as Liz described “feel like they deserve a say” because of that support. Maybe it simply paves the way for the next generation of varium buyers. That’s how I feel anyway.

ReconnaisX -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 12:26:16)

If you ever think about it, AE must be seriously rich...
In Epicduel the Stun guns can only be gotten with the purchase of the 10,000 varium package, costing 50 dollars.So many people want the guns that they're willing to pay the price... Why can't the stun guns just be sold separately in NPC shops?

Raizuken -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 12:28:44)

Ok i've had a hard time to be a level 32. It's not about having a win rate or having super high wins. It's about the people playing the game. They might aswell drop it from weekly updates to half a week updates.It just takes forever to level up and $50 for 10,000 varium plus stuff that will probably get outdated Why dont you make it a little more fairer.I wish they had implemented the upped varium pricing and add more varium to those poor people who i think only got 50% of the new prices with each and every monthly rare. Add a little bit of MQ mix too it too with level scaling.I still play this game because it has much potential being a REAL player interactive game but it's missing the "It's cheap,fun and its not wasting your time spending hundreds of hours leveling to find out you still have to be this good to have REAL fun."Oh and please lower it to 45$ and give all your other characters maybe 10,000 varium, Thank you
