Cinderella -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 12:36:02)

@Vick Vega- we do appreciate your support. Please understand the position I'm in- I can't change the stats on the guns. It's akin to going to the cashier at a retail establishment and complaining that a product is too costly- the cashier did not set the price, so all I can do is apologize. This honestly was our response to complaints about the Eggzookas being OP, and it appears we still have some shuffling to do to make sure that promo items are useful but not OP.

Light Stridr -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 12:41:32)

@Cinderella:
I understand you can't do much about it. What I think Vick and everybody is saying is that ED requires the most money to keep up with. I believe the issue here lies with stat inflation. I'd suggest also laying off the production of promos.
AQW (and presumably HS) requires $50 for membership for a year, while all of the other games have a flat fee of $20 for lifetime membership.
But in ED, you need to spend around $150 per year to keep competitive. With all the new equipment with better stats that don't even stay in the game for more than 2 months per year, it's not surprising the average player has to buy this much varium.
And if you include promo weapons, well, you have as many as one package per month. That's $600 per year, if you push the idea of impulse buying. Not only that, but prices are going up, and varium and credits are losing their value.

Cindy I think u need to learn how to haggle.... I've haggled at best buy many of times and got my way...

Shadronica -> RE: Food for thought (5/27/2011 20:17:33)

Please everyone stay on topic and I ask you all to respect Cinderella as she is our messenger/PR person and she doesn't set the pricing or anything in this game. Cinderella takes our messages to Titan and Nightwraith so that they don't have to keep reading our forum all the time.
I think Cinderella is doing a wonderful job keeping her cool especially since we all have an axe to grind.

I also feel that we have all pretty much sent a strong message to Artix Entertainment that we are fed up with the abrasive marketing strategy from Artix Entertainment.

Everyone forgets that Titan and Nightwraith are two young guys that came up with a winning formula for a game. Artix Entertainment saw the potential of their game and quickly bought and brought it into the AE stable of games.

I doubt that Titan and Nightwraith understood that their game was going to be used in a way that has become the golden goose for Artix Entertainment to fund not only HeroSmash but a new toy promotion.

I had written to Artix approximately 6 months ago regarding my concerns about this game being such a high cost intensive game and compared it to other games from AE. He wrote back to me and thanked me for my well written letter and assured me that he would discuss my letter with Titan and Nightwraith. I feel that absolutely nothing has changed so I am rather disappointed myself with being "fobbed off".

I know that Titan and Nightwraith have a good deal of say on the game of course and I do know that they are currently negotiating changes to our pricing with Artix Entertainment. Lets hope that they can also negotiate the marketing strategy that has left us all so fed up with constantly putting our hands in our pockets because this is the golden goose aspect of our game.

Vick Vega -> RE: Food for thought (6/7/2011 10:50:49)

Thanks for the Stat point. Better than nothing.

Deimos... -> RE: Food for thought (6/7/2011 17:29:37)

Ikr this game is so expensive im playing AQ for free! Im lvl 86 and its better than ED. Its gonna make me upgrade soon :) They are smart on making money :)

MrBones -> RE: Food for thought (6/7/2011 19:20:51)

I completly agree with you Shadronica :)

Monstrocon -> RE: Food for thought (6/17/2011 15:19:04)

I can't completely address this matter, I'm non-var after all. But I can tell you what I think.

Well this was certainly Food for Thought. The answer is, however, most obvious (reduce varium pricing!).
The problem with Titan and NW is that they are overly ambitious. Look at what NW does for art (Time lapse videos were amazing imo), and right now they're developing three new class variations. Sounds very ambitious to me.

Titan and NW probably started ED as a source of fun and a bit of money-making (sincere intentions). But then, as popularity rose, they probably started receiving lots of money (less sincere intentions). They merged with AE, and the fact that they have to update once a week makes them overly ambitious and make too many varium things. In Beta it was completely fine, a non-var can defeat varium players with a bit of brains. Now, you can't do that so easily. Stat inflation and enhancements, paired with nerfs and more...

It got less fun, and as a non-var player, I groan when I see a guy with Frostbane, Bunny Borg, Eggzooka, stun guns and all other sorts of things. Although, I got used to it seeing as they're way too common anyway. This game was really fun, and can still be. My suggestions: Go back to the way Beta was, with only armour and primary enhancing allowed. The varium prices are fine, but less promos, less ambitious varium features, more (satisfying) non-var things as well. All we non-vars hope for are seasonal rares, and things like the suggestion shop. And when is a non-var bot coming out? -_- Been waiting for some time.

Aegis Omega -> RE: Food for thought (6/17/2011 23:51:15)

well i agree to those who want membership instead of currency paying . reason? bcoz the varium-priced items cost a lot of credits , compared to AQ , DF , MQ , AQW , where they only cost one type of currency each item or other stuff .

DC's ( Dragon Coins ) for an example , can give great stat-giving weapons in DF

Shadronica -> RE: Food for thought (6/17/2011 23:57:40)

I think that our high end varium packages cost far too much at $50.

I really feel that we should have a $5 a $10 and the highest should be a $20 varium package.

Players don't mind finding $5, $10 or even $20 ... but $50 with the world economics the way they currently are doesn't make sense.

You can buy the best app for your phone for $5 and most are under $1.

This sort of pricing would bring new players to the game while keeping the old players more happy.

Aegis Omega -> RE: Food for thought (6/18/2011 0:09:01)

@Shadronica Agreed , since that ED only has a limit of 4k players of capacity ( 1k each per server ) and players prefer more in the older games due to their benefits

xxmirxx -> RE: Food for thought (6/18/2011 0:14:10)

cindy did say price are going change when delta comes out. It could be good or worst. I rather see price go 10 dollars cheaper then increase .
