Ack... forgot to include any sort of indication of a hindrance in my last post regarding the Heat Sink. Eh, I'll make sure to factor that into Calestern's next move.

Nightlark -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/29/2011 18:34:00)

@Starstruck:

Because I'm MAGICAL...

Ok, I'll be coming on and off for the next few hours, and I won't be able to post for a while. But I'll still read the next few posts, and hopefully, I'll be back online after dinner (which is in... oh no... 4 hours...)

Dragonnightwolf -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/29/2011 18:51:24)

Oh great. wonderful, thank you so much for making yourself a target starstruck.

Now for sure the battles going to go into fury mode.

My advice? run for your life :)

Oh and I won't be able to make a post until later this evening, probably 8 pm gmt.

Kellehendros -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/29/2011 18:55:06)

That's enough of the links now.

Starstruck, as a reminder, no color IC, thank you. You may edit your post to remove the color.

jerenda -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/29/2011 19:53:47)

Umm... I think we're breaking time. Scion first. Scion, don't worry, Krey has not actually cast his Heat Sink spell. He is just standing there chanting it. Your character has no reason to suffer from the Heat Sink, as it has not been created yet. Edit: You should help us make sure it doesn't get created. =D

As for breaking time... this is what I see. So far, we've got three posts of people charging directly at Marcos. In order of posting, and therefore in order of first to last, we have Reeve, Nightfall, and Kainrahn. Therefore, Reeve should reach Marcos first, then Nightfall, then Kainrahn assuming they are all charging at the same speed. However, Nightfall specifically mentioned he was trying not to be noticed, so he might hit last.

In Kain's last post, he indicated that he was overtaking Nightfall, which I can understand, but then he placed Reeve behind him. That seems a little like breaking time to me. Moreover, he seemed to be almost on top of Marcos at the end of his post. That would give you, Starstruck, about half a second to make your move. That is, you have half a second to see Marcos, bounce around, land on the ground, run towards him, jump again, do some gymnastics in midair, do your pulse thing, then land, turn around, and talk to Marcos. But that's not entirely accurate either, is it?

In RP posts, especially combat RP's as fast-paced as this one, posts tend to overlap. They take place a little in the past, a little in the present, and then a little into the future. Like in my most recent post- Gabriel acted in her "past", to take the knife lying around and respond to Reeve's statements, then in her "present," to tug on Marcos, and then in her "future," sprinting alongside the outside towards Goshen and Leira.

So Tantatto would have seen Marcos's plight at about the same time his plight started to exist- ie, when our three warriors started charging him. So he would have started his bouncing thingy while everyone was charging. I can see him landing behind, say, Kain's charge time-wise. Since you did post last. Unless you're incredibly fast, I don't know how you could finish all of your gymnastics before the attackers reach Marcos, not to mention that our poor Krey needs some time to respond to all this anyway. And I did reread your bio and I must have missed the “super-speedy dash” ability… could you maybe show it to me? I must have missed it.

Edit: (I like edits) Not to mention, Starstruck, why in the world would you defend Marcos when your precious parley flag was met with hostility and ended up getting you chased by a demon? I vote you should help us in finishing him off! =D

Nightlark -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/29/2011 22:01:51)

Hold on, jerenda. Maybe I can clarify something.

First statement: Yeah, time got REALLY messed up in our posts, but I believe that Kainrahn and Nightfall finishes talking as Gabriel reaches for the knife, thus giving them both a head start on Reeve. DNW did not mention his wolf seeing Reeve, suggesting that the wolf was already on the move, and Reeve has not yet either 1) exposed himself or 2) gotten close enough for Nightfall to pick it up out of the corner of his eye (I like using that phrase a lot, no?). Furthermore, even IF Reeve had taken off at the same time as Kainrahn had, Kainrahn would still overtake him, as I see nothing in Reeve's bio that suggests that he is super-humanly fast. All I see is "weapon of mass destruction", which does not necessarily suggest speed. Therefore, this would give Kainrahn some time to hurl that ball of dark energy at Reeve, although I did mention in my post that Reeve was almost within range of his daggers.

Does that clarify something? I don't understand how Starstruck's character got to Marcos so fast either, but I'll let Star take care of that.

Dragonnightwolf -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 0:26:15)

That's correct Shadowlord, at the time of my chars movements towards Krey's, Reeve was not yet in the equation. I think the next post coming up(once krey posts something) would help better explain the next step in time.

Also, I too do not see how one could move quite as fast as that. Granted that in the time frame of attacks, my attack would be last since I was moving slower then the first two attacks.

And yeah, why are you defending a fellow ice element person that really more or less told you to "hit the road jack"

jerenda -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 0:26:39)

Kell, can I make Gabriel bleed clear? Her blood still does normal blood things, it's just colorless. She is Angelborn, after all, and she hasn't got cut yet. Ryu gave me a beautiful quote in support of clear blood: "Just as no one can see the hand of power that is her advantage, no one can see the gravity of the damage that's caused to her form." I'mma stick that in my siggy at some point.

Well, that's just my point of view on what's happened, your explanation seems to make sense to me, but I'll leave that to Ged to discuss.

Anyway, Team, we need to do this better. Like, not fight each other. That would be a good start. *cracks knuckles*

Krey -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 0:41:11)

Right, so, you people need to try harder. You basically all came at Marcos from the front, in an arena full of mirrors, as Gabriel used a tug on him. It was way too easy for him to work his way through that and complete the spell. If you don't think you came at him from the front, I'd like to note that his back is against a pillar. Your options are front and side, all of which he can see in the mirrors. And he's quite attentive.

So, a rundown on the spell!

The visible sphere is an area of absolute zero temperature. I highly advise not touching it. It might look pretty, but it will claim your limbs with instant frostbite. Absolute zero tends to do that. The area immediately surrounding the area (Another six inches or so in diameter) is about 20 degrees below zero (Fahrenheit). As for the REST of the arena... The laws of physics say that heat moves from hot to cold. Thus, the heat in the arena will begin to be pulled into the heat sink, gradually dropping the temperature in the arena. The area between the pillars will be affected fastest, and within two hours, the entire arena will be unbearably cold.

However, the dropoffs probably won't even last an hour IC. So it'll just get real cold by the time we're done. Enough to make people really wish they weren't there.

As for timeline stuff... It was basically a mess. I did my best based on post order and positioning.

Also Marcos is somewhat winded now. This is your chance, people! Quick, before he turns the floor to icy spikes!

Nightlark -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 0:42:52)

Hey, sorry. Have to stick with the nature of the character. If you want someone more intelligent and less rash, I can make one for next year's EC, but until then, you're stuck with Kainrahn.

Oh great. Thank you, Krey, for outsmarting us all, as usual, and making the arena a frosty pit of death. Wonderful. Just wonderful. *grimace*

Alright, back to hunting down the mage. No, wait, you guys go do that, I have a score to settle with out little blue... friend. *evil grin*

Dragonnightwolf -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 1:38:50)

I'm leaving a query here, Krey for the time being I won't do anything against it, but I'd like to know if the sphere can be damaged in any way, or broken or shattered or altered, or what have you.

Postmaster General -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 3:20:11)

Just a note, the wisps and their respective cursors are all in Fenrys' head, a side-effect of Dajaal's impregnated tail spines.

Geddesmck -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 5:29:22)

Shadowlord Drakious, what exactly would the darkness attack do if it hit Reeve?

Krey -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 7:14:27)

The sphere can not be damaged. It's not substantial, after all. Really just colored space as far as substance goes, you could pass right through it, but it'd be a bad idea.

Nightlark -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 8:28:28)

@Geddesmck:

It would give off a burning sensation where it hits that'll last for a few seconds or so and probably throw him a few steps back. It's really meant to distract, not severely injure. If he wanted that, he would've used a knife instead.

Starstruck -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 9:32:49)

I hate missing this place in the evenings :/ There's a lot that goes on.

Kell: ...oops.

Team Thwack-Marcos: :P The ice spell was advantageous to me, so Tantatto went around for Round Two. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

I drew a picture for timeline, and Krey got it right. Silly me, for not seeing that Gabriel's pull would get him out of danger. Of course, he had to stand on his book to do so, so I suppose I did my best.

MOAR PULSES! /dashes off to prepare posts

P.S. All of my PM's are being eaten by the forums D: I have sent one to jerenda, two to Geddesmck, three to superjars (the third time was a charm :D), and one to Mech Boy. The forum hates me! DX

MOAR STUFF FROM SCROLLING UP: Shadowlord, you are magical. I envy your ability to make infinite food. By the way, have you read any of the stories on that site XD The Alot story is my favorite.

DNW: D:

.Discipline -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 9:58:58)

@Krey: So is the area we're seeing as a blue orb essentially the center of the spell and thusly made entirely of mana and ice elemental energy? If so it's going to be tricky to stop this thing short of violently destroying Marcos and hoping that will sever the mana link. You've made yourself quite the target there. xD

This is definitely a very interesting situation for me. I have a harpy in front of me that is tripping balls and begging for information on the affliction. I have a dark swordsman who has jumped in to take the harpy out... And now I have a mage trying to freeze us all that needs to be eliminated as quickly as possible... what to do... what to do?

Congrats on making this an exciting tournament from the outset, guys.

Dragonnightwolf -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 11:58:21)

Great so in other words physical weapons won't do a thing to it, good to know. Thanks Krey.

Don't forget everyone, the bladed weapon Nightfall just tossed out, he can control mentally, which means, krey, that it will be much more difficult for you to dodge these. Especially since there's now 3 instead of one coming after you.

Oh and on a side note, the other two bladed weapons(a and b) would only cause between ten and thirty percent damage.

Oh and as Uncle from Jackie chan adventures would say "One more thing", I won't be near a computer again until five pm today.

So don't expect a reply from me until after then.

(is using a college campus comp, but this isn't one of my college days I had to aquire some info)

Have a great day everyone :)

Edgemaster Scion -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 12:13:53)

I really don't know how this "Heat Sink" should affect Calestern's actions. Should I make it considerably slow him down? Or should I make him push through it, though feel more pain?

So no direct attacks have been aimed towards Calestern yet. Excellent. *Goes off to think of a response to Dajaal and Fenrys*

superjars -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 12:32:00)

Well, it makes everything colder, slowly; so think about the effect getting cold has on your body. I'm thinking Goshen may start stripping, it's going to be so nice in the Cellar!

Nightlark -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 13:10:51)

Just a question, Krey: If we killed Marcos, would the sphere of turning-everything-to-frosty-slaughterhouse still be there? :D

superjars -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 14:25:34)

We asked Krey that question last night (we being Jen and I) and the answer is no.

jerenda -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 14:46:58)

I have no PMs from you, Starstruck. As for everyone else... or Team Thwack-Marcos, which needs a better name, I think we should definitely not plot out in the open. But I think we have go to coordinate an attack better, or something. Gabriel's being grumpy about it, but she volunteers to be the leader if she has to- and she claims she has to. So... PM?

No, like Sups says, it won't end the spell, but I vote we try and take him out anyway. ^_^

Djaal, I vote you leave Calestern to finish off the harpy (sorry Sherrif) and come use your awesome darkness powers to help us. ^_^

Nightlark -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 14:48:51)

Yes. Before he turns the ground into an icy slaughterhouse too.

Wait, I need to hunt down the small ninja-dude. I'll join you guys later, if you haven't already succeeded before I return.

jerenda -> RE: =EC 2011= Cellar Arena OOC (6/30/2011 14:50:17)

Good, I'll ignore Star unless he attacks me personally. ^_^ *mentally checks that problem off her list* I'll assume Goshen and Leira are going to be occupied, so I'll leave them out of my plotting for now.
