Xendran -> The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 19:45:43)

UPDATE: Finalized stats spreadsheet (designed with intent to be useable as a build-maker) can be found HERE

Things to take into consideration:

Rage can be used at any time, presuming you have at least more than 0% of your bar filled. The damage rage does is based upon how much is full
Rage: +100% Damage when full
Critical: +50% Damage
Deflection: Reduction to 30% Damage
Ineffective: Reduction to 30% Damage and Effect
Block: Reduction to Zero damage
Robot damage is based on your lowest stat.

How would you like an epicduel that focuses entirely on skill, and not luck?
How would you like an epicduel that gives you a real opportunity to show your true potential?
How would you like an epicduel where copying a build doesn't make you good?
How would you like an epicduel that focuses more on fun than getting 2 hit kills, fame, and racking up pointless wins?
How would you like an epicduel where you can win the daily 1v1 with any build you want while not having to rely on 2 shot kills?

We can make this happen in the near future. I'd like your feedback to these questions.

Nexus... -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 19:49:16)

I have been complaining about build unoriginality lately, but the fact is that Focus/Agility totally killed that.

I agree with all your points as usual. We need a new ED. I hate how everything is based on luck, and how someone with 100 bucks to spend can come, buy all the newest weapons, and start beating Pro's who have been playing 2 years. It doesn't make any sense. However the likelihood of this happening is very low, unless the devs take their eye of off Profit for a couple of releases, which sadly will not happen. However these are not suggestions which You/I merely want implemented, these are suggestions that ED as a whole really needs to become the once great game that it was.

Zean Zapple -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 19:52:05)

I agree Xendran. And if this happens in the near future, I would be a very happy camper. I would be able to finally do what I've always wanted: switch to Tech Mage!

~Zean

Nexus... -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 19:54:38)

Tech Mage is the hardest class to play at the moment, and that is exactly why I use it. I'm tired of spoiled players running around changing classes every 10 minutes because Merc has a little of an edge over Bounty, and Tech Mage can't tank like any of the others. I stick with my class because I don't want an instant win. Tank Mercs can get 450 wins and 2 losses. Tech Mages can't do that. However Tech Mages have to actually think, something which has become very rare in this game as of late, and something that all players should have to do.

First three questions are pretty much the same or incredibly alike and yes i would like a skill non copy cat epicduel but as long as we have been here people have done copy cat builds it dates all teh way back to alpha with the supercharge build

Yes i would love to have the fun back but in fact i was having fun helping people to improve thier builds in Jugg this afternoon for two hours

Finally you can make a working build that drags out a fight just make a build specificly for Big Tuna and it work well in 1v1 its teh build ive been using for awhile now and before that i used a NW build for a long time

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 20:01:25)

There is a fairly good chance that these things will happen.
Titan will be reviewing the new (non public, only around 5 people have seen it) stats formula, and if it accepted, skills will be coming after. While skills are being worked on, i will release a spreadsheet with all stat information (which also works well as a build maker as you can input your stats, your opponents stats, your weapon stats, your opponents weapon stats, your level and your opponents level, and it will show all information such as min and max physical and energy damage with yoru weapons, block deflect crit rates, etc)

DeathGuard -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 20:08:29)

Don't you think they need it to handle slowly, because when they implement a full feature most complain about it so they have to implement all this one by one because if they want to release it all at a time it will last 1 month or more to be covered.

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 20:11:32)

Implementing it slowly will break the game.
To be honest, if anybody complains about the stat formulas that have been worked out, they are the ones who rely on luck to win and copy builds, and they should be ignored completely.

hardcore59 -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 20:14:47)

How would you like an epicduel that focuses entirely on skill, and not luck? Love It

How would you like an epicduel where copying a build doesn't make you good? LOVe It
How would you like an epicduel that focuses more on fun than getting 2 hit kills, fame, and racking up pointless wins? LOVE It

DarkNight1223 -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 20:15:09)

I agree. 5 Focus Bot Builds are getting spammed. We need to do something about. EVERYONE is using a bot build these days.

King FrostLich -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 20:18:02)

Hmm by the time Gamma ends, Gamma bot builds will slowly diminish. Let's just hope there is a robot for the non variums as well

Celestine -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 20:23:23)

I'm positive you'll get a definite yes from most of the community.
Every question you have mentioned depicts balance in the battle aspect of ED.

Although I do not know you well, I expect good things coming from your project.
Hopefully it is taken into deep consideration by the developers.

Have a good day.

-Celestine

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 20:27:09)

Xen that will be freaking amazing if you bring skill back to ED

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 20:51:07)

Me and khimera. He did most of the formula work, i did alot of the input, as well as spreadsheet management. It is in sreious consideration, titan just has to finish up delta before reading the document.

I will be taking most of the brunt with skills, all we have to do is standardize power:cost ratio and then we'll be going through every skill in the game.

Sparticus -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 20:58:45)

I'm curious, why did you start this thread? I don't see how starting this thread helps the game developers with their work. Why come out before anything is finalized and launch a sell campaign?

Why don't we let the actual game developers come out and tell us what they are doing, who's work it is and how it will impact the community. Don't you think they deserve that level of respect? I certainly do.

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 21:01:11)

How does this disrupt their work. Please tell me why you are assuming this thread disrespects the developers.

Sparticus -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 21:18:38)

First off, you didn't answer my question you just asked me another question. That trick is older then me.

Second, unless this information is already public knowledge, I would think the game developers
might want to make a decision before you start a forum up swell in favor of it. Posting your information before
they decide only serves to pressure them, I'm sure they don't need the additional scrutiny while making
a decision this important. That is the answer to both your questions.

Remember, I don't have to answer your questions if you don't answer mine. I'm being polite and responding none the less.

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 21:22:43)

Actually, it serves to see community reaction before the decision is made, something that should ALWAYS be done.
Also, don't accuse me of trying to trick you. I simply responded with a question, that is no trick, it is simply a different method of response.

Sparticus -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 21:41:37)

I disagree on both counts. The forumites do not need to react to an event that has not happened yet, they do not need to be in the loop on every decision in this game. Most players lack the capacity to understand or make a cogent decision without all the information which, as I understand, only 5 or so people know. What you defend with semantics is nothing more then a cheap debaters trick. If you don't know this, as I suspect you already did, then let me say it so there is no ambiguity.

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 21:48:40)

I find it interesting that you have an issue with this thread over all else.
This is one of the most positive threads this forum has seen in quite a while, and you're attempting to essentially have it shut down.
Compare the emotion generated in this thread by everybody who posted in it (except you of course) compared to the emotions generated in the majority of other threads.
You of all people should enjoy a game based on skill.
I find it saddening that a positive thread gets degraded into an argument.
I'm no longer going to respond to you as that is not the purpose of this thread.

Sparticus -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 21:54:24)

I shall, none the less, point out that being unable to defend your attempt to brag on the forum you decided to end the discussion.

Instead of talking about why you made this thread, you chose to attack me. It is sad indeed, I agree with you there.

I'll leave this thread with this one final thought. Why did the poster feel the need to preempt the developers?

Even after you changed your post several times it still sounds like you're attacking me personally because I asked a simple question which you refuse to answer.
Trolling is wrong, you would know best.

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 22:07:35)

Trolling, no matter how polite, is still trolling.
I did not attempt to brag. I see no proof of bragging. I did not attack you, you confronted me. The reason i chose to post this was to open up a constructive discussion, and obtain community feedback which i already explained in my second response to you which you now seem to be ignoring or omitting from your memory, not for somebody to troll in a manner of speaking that makes it seem like it is not trolling in order to avoid trouble. You did this on epicduel forums, please do not do it here.
I understand you hold a grudge against me from EDF for no discernible reason, but that does not mean you have to take a positive thread and troll in it.

charwelly -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 22:18:36)

Focus and agillity toatally ruined build origanality

Zean Zapple -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 22:34:01)

If the stats are fixed, the way Xendran and SOUP have been trying to get them for ages, I will kiss the Devs feet.

~Zean

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/25/2011 22:35:35)

Actually, these ones were done by Khimera and I. They are drastically different from anything you've seen SOUP or I do in the past.
