Khimera -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/27/2011 8:17:17)

The spreadsheet was created by Xen, and it's his call when to release it and who to. He constructed it using the formulae I put together in a document, which I won't be releasing as it's aimed directly at Titan. The system I've put together involves a number of quite radical changes, some of which may cause backlash as it may cause the game to seem unfamiliar at first. However, I have put this together with the game's best interests at heart, and there are many benefits (beside the obvious one of more balanced gameplay) - Such as opening the way for innovative and creative skills, abilities on items, etc., without fear of causing balance disruption.

While it's ultimately the call of the game devs as to whether the system is implemented or not - As it not only involves a lot of re-coding, but also some quite large changes to the game mechanics - player opinion plays an important part in everything, and since Titan and the team are busy getting Delta ready I have at least until Wednesday to iron out any flaws in my proposal. I'll happily answer any questions and will take suggestions as to changes that need to be made - I'm sure Xen will provide the spreadsheet, and any information, if prompted.

Although the pessmist in me is screaming that the system won't be put in-game, I'd like to reassure everybody that although the changes are quite large, they are - In my opinion, at least - in the best interests of the game, and the players, and I can only hope that it's worth the time and effort it would take to implement.

King FrostLich -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/27/2011 9:40:40)

Well I wanted to see the formula myself. Tbh I'm good in math when it comes to MDAS(Multiply, Divide, Add and Subtract) but I wanna see the copy of it . Just curious Xendran so I can see how really good skills and attacks really are and how it will affect battles of what you made through PM by Khimera or Xendran.

goldslayer1 -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/27/2011 10:07:24)

@frost
its more of long equations.
the math behind it is very complex.

Rider_of_Rohan -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/27/2011 10:38:37)

@Khimera

I'm actually a Statistics major. Could I take a look at your formulas?

Khimera -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/27/2011 11:30:04)

I won't post them all since it'd be a very long and boring list, but I'll explain the concept - The formulae are exponential, since stats stack multiplicatively (150% health/damage is better than 200% in either), and the formula for HP (which is the simplest) is basehealth*1.005^Endurance

Base health is determined by level, using a quadratic which is in turn derived from weapon damage.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/27/2011 11:32:08)

Khimera you just fried the Geometry kid's mind but ill take your word that the system is more balanced then the current one

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/27/2011 11:49:45)

FrostLich, MDAS isn't quite what we're dealing with here.
This is.

ROUND(WeaponDamage*(1.005^STRENGTH^0.5*4-3)*(4*1.005^SUPPORT^0.25*(35/25)-4.6))±Rand(WeaponRange)

Spreadsheet is provided to anybody via adding me on msn.

weihong4694 -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/27/2011 14:06:38)

Good job! Xendran Seems you put a lot of thinking into the game and not into separate classes. This could definitely help the game develop and continue growing. Oh and i forgot Agility, are you thinking of removing it or editing it? With the second turn halfway rage meter, Isn't that going to disrupt the importance of support? Many people might just end up over-tanking (lol if that's even possible) to get a second turn, absorb damage, and build up rage at a faster scale. Sorry bout multi-questions :3.

uria9 -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/27/2011 14:18:51)

How would you like an epicduel that focuses entirely on skill, and not luck? yes plz
How would you like an epicduel that gives you a real opportunity to show your true potential? yes
How would you like an epicduel where copying a build doesn't make you good? yes
How would you like an epicduel that focuses more on fun than getting 2 hit kills, fame, and racking up pointless wins? yes
How would you like an epicduel where you can win the daily 1v1 with any build you want while not having to rely on 2 shot kills? yes

PD -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/27/2011 15:57:11)

Just in case anyone is wondering who is SOUP. That is me.

Have a nice day everyone. ^_^

And yes, if anyone here deserves credit, it be Xendran and Khimera. The only thing I do is well... be a disciple who understands the stuff.

Retrosaur -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/27/2011 16:18:34)

@Xendran
I don't have an msn, only Gmail. Can you just pm me your msn instead?

@PD
Do you go by "Mr. Soup" on the IRC? I saw you as MR Soup (but I couldn't find that character anywhere in game)

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/28/2011 7:11:18)

Finalized stats spreadsheet (designed with intent to be useable as a build-maker) can be found HERE

EDIT: Robot damage is missing. I will update this when we add it in.

Goony -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/28/2011 8:41:45)

Seems solid! There is something about def and res being calculated as a % ignored that is bugging me and I can't seem to put my finger on it :(

This is really radical diversion from current format and is almost a total rewrite...hmmm... Good Luck!

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/28/2011 8:55:36)

ALMOST a total rewrite? It IS a total rewrite.

Khimera -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/28/2011 8:58:39)

Well, not -quite- total :P We did try to keep as much functionality as we could - Such as focus, rage, etc.

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/28/2011 9:00:21)

True, functionally speaking its not a total rewrite, but mathematically speaking it is. I'm pretty sure we actually left nothing in tact other than how many stat points you get when you level up

Khimera -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/28/2011 9:05:57)

And cooldown. That's mathsy *nods*

Goony -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/28/2011 9:10:26)

Robot damage could be like str and increase by level and be modified something like this for an energy attack (support/3)+(strength/3)+ (technology/3) x ? = total energy bot attack.

Substitute technology for dexterity for physical bot attack.

The robot debuff or robot skills could also be calculated using a variation of the stats...

Meh Xen if you had some diplomacy u'd go a long way mate!

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/28/2011 9:12:02)

Robot damage is nothing like that. We just forgot to include it in the spreadsheet, we already have a formula. And that wouldnt work because the base of 1.005 wasnt included.

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/29/2011 22:21:38)

@Goony: Who knows, perhaps :P

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/30/2011 4:56:06)

@Xendran

Does your formula still stand with the radical introduction of the three new classes?

Khimera -> RE: The future of epicduel (6/30/2011 5:02:01)

Yes it does.

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (7/4/2011 17:57:36)

Potential information update tomorrow

Zean Zapple -> RE: The future of epicduel (7/4/2011 18:08:37)

Does this have Technology complete Xen? Or do I have the newest installment already?

~Zean

Xendran -> RE: The future of epicduel (7/4/2011 18:10:24)

This has technology complete.
