Idea: Research, clans don't have that many people, so, if you want to use those numbers have it be nations instead of clans.

steel blade -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (1/28/2013 12:47:37)

Strings is BAAAAAACK. Also, I have other plans. And sorry, LDB, Chosen II isn't one of them at the moment.

DA Holder67 -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (1/28/2013 19:25:04)

@Frost moglin: That's a FSG, or forum strategy game. They are almost impossible to run successfully, even for veterans on these forums. Maybe consider a traditional a&r instead, flesh out the clans, and try an all out war game sometime in the future when you have a better handle on running games.

Un67 -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (1/28/2013 19:42:17)

Going to have to call nonsense on that. It's plenty possible to run an FSG, considering the fact that back in the day there were FSGs that ran over several threads for considerable lengths of time, and that at one point A&Rs were a completely new thing. They just take ungodly amounts of time and planning, which unfortunately is not something that most of us possess at this point in time.

DA Holder67 -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (1/28/2013 19:53:56)

I guess that's a more accurate way to put it.

Reminder: It's now the end of the month. So...cast your votes on the game of the month, dudes. Got nothing to vote for this month.

Okay, not to be hatred but what do people think of a Skylanders-ish A&R? Like you'll have multiple characters, and can switch them out on a whim. I was figuring if it uses characters from (not-so) official sources you could provide links? Regardless, here's the main concept behind the character switching: You start off with three blank souls, which you can mold as you please and give whatever shape. The actual person behind them never fights, and there are ways to gain and lose usable souls. If a character dies, you can reclaim their soul and either recreate them as well or make modifications. Losing souls isn't easy at all, and you can gain usable souls after boss fights, defeating other users, or by doing certain objectives. That one side-quest you've been putting off was actually gonna give you a new soul as a reward.

Further working off this concept, I figure there would be various types of souls. Boss Souls allow you to recreate that boss whole-cloth, or make some variations to a degree. Like, if the Boss was fifty feet tall you can't make him six inches or into a completely different character. Blank Souls are the basic ones, which have no innate specialty or form which makes them versatile but weaker than other more specialized ones. Souls of all kinds have set perimeters from which you can work off of, and you can fuse items gathered along your adventure to infuse unused souls to make them stronger. Souls and the resulting characters have Levels, and you can raise their levels during creation/rebirth by using something I've yet to decide. Also, if you really want you can fuse various types of souls together for various purposes. Like fusing a Boss Soul to a Blank Soul so you have greater control over it, merging Specialty Souls together or just simply raising the base stat. Also, having a character die means they restart from level one and you can destroy one of your characters for their soul if you want. I'll flesh this out and refine this more, but I really like this idea.

Hello forums, it has been a while. I have a neverending off again on again with this place. I just wanted to know if any one here (DA or Kkut) remember my old "Battlefield" That was my first and best one. Just want to hear your opinion.

DA Holder67 -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/2/2013 21:55:50)

It was fun, and it lasted. Just needed a little more identity to the world, the setting was just a generic fantasy world. If you're thinking of bringing it back, but all means do it.

Nartbor -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/3/2013 10:19:48)

Ok, I might be back in a few. Prepare for it, but don't expect it.

PBlades -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/3/2013 10:22:55)

Will potentially be gone till 8th.

steel blade -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/3/2013 11:49:58)

If anyone's curious, I still need assistance from all current GMs for the revival of the Active Games Index.

kkutwar -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/4/2013 10:48:12)

If you could flesh out Battlefield a bit more, that would be great. I would love to join it again. Hehehe, killing phoenixes with a telekinetic midget. Though, can Half-Breeds be an option this time? Cause as an uneducated idiot back in 09 I thought Halfling meant half-blood and I actually wanted my character to be a Human/Djinn hybrid...

Nartbor -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/5/2013 20:13:56)

ok... I understand. Gort was a half breed, so why can't the player. Btw I thought the mentalist halfling was awesome. One thing I know I will change is that the villains will no longer be named after naruto characters

kkutwar -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/9/2013 20:18:30)

Guys, what's your opinions on Slice-of-Life A&Rs that have a plot developed by its players? That can't really be called a Role Play because there's a GM in charge of things, but it would be interesting just to see players being their character going about their normal lives.

Dawn of Shadows -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/9/2013 23:24:18)

since we have the privilege of having an OOC thread, I jsut wanted to say: GONG HAY FAT CHOI EVERYONE!

I'm off to the temple!

1girlhousefan -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/10/2013 12:38:24)

Well happy Chinese new year to you too. (That is what he said right?)

Frost Moglin -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/15/2013 3:45:05)

Wait. Was Endless Infinity removed?

Kosefira -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/15/2013 6:36:50)

Games more than one month old which are still under construction are deleted. I retain the code for the posts so let me know if you need it.

kkutwar -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/15/2013 13:22:21)

Yes Moglin, it was. Honestly it didn't work out as I had intended. I can see why heavily player-driven games isn't something done often now. But I have three major projects I want to work on, so there's plenty to see from me in the future.

Frost Moglin -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/15/2013 14:31:51)

[:(]It looked like it would have been really intresting game.

Nartbor -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/23/2013 13:01:12)

Sorry that I haven't been constructing Battlefield, I will get right on it

Nartbor -> RE: UCaG Guide / General UCaG OOC / Welcome/Goodbye (2/24/2013 22:22:55)

an ooc thread will soon be available for Battlefield applications

quote:

The UCaG, a land on the forum of Artix Entertainment that attracts all kinds of roleplayers, you can find a game from a FSG (Forum Stratagy game) To an A&R (Action and reaction, like roleplaying without dice.)

Has anyone else noticed this before? I find it completely hilarious how we have a UCaG and RP boards, yet even when we say "Its not role-play" its still role-play. Because either way, you're creating and playing a role for an interactive story. Actually, now I think of it, would it be too complicated to just have a single board for both types of Role-Play? There's already a similar structure in some of their build, and this way we don't have to create an entire new sub-board for an UCaG Archive: We'll just put them in the same spot as the archived RPs. This would be a win-win situation, less data space is used*, both Boards would get more attention and UCaGers can reflect on the past creations. Of course, it would probably be troublesome readjusting both boards for one area but the pay-off seems worth it. It would probably be easier just to move everything from one area to another with required edits instead of making a combined area from scratch, and then there's the issue regarding what happens to current things. If this is done, it would either make the Application Process at the RP Board a massive waste of time or UCaGers would be placed under an Application Process fitted for them. Plus, what happens to current UCaG games and OOCs? Depending on how long it would take, the UCaG's activity could be stalled for a while. No offense meant towards the mods, but why were the UCaG and RP boards separate in the first place? If it had to do with A&Rs getting mixed up with more wide-open RPs I figured it wouldn't be too much for GMs to label what type their RP is going to be. That way nobody could possibly confuse an A&R with a WOS (Wide-Open Sandbox), and those that do weren't paying attention to the details explaining them.

*Until you put together all the archived stuff, but making an off-site extension for the Archives is something any of us could do so even that shouldn't be a problem. I was going to move the current UCaG archives to Webs anyways.
