Okay, not to be hatred but what do people think of a Skylanders-ish A&R? Like you'll have multiple characters, and can switch them out on a whim. I was figuring if it uses characters from (not-so) official sources you could provide links? Regardless, here's the main concept behind the character switching: You start off with three blank souls, which you can mold as you please and give whatever shape. The actual person behind them never fights, and there are ways to gain and lose usable souls. If a character dies, you can reclaim their soul and either recreate them as well or make modifications. Losing souls isn't easy at all, and you can gain usable souls after boss fights, defeating other users, or by doing certain objectives. That one side-quest you've been putting off was actually gonna give you a new soul as a reward. Further working off this concept, I figure there would be various types of souls. Boss Souls allow you to recreate that boss whole-cloth, or make some variations to a degree. Like, if the Boss was fifty feet tall you can't make him six inches or into a completely different character. Blank Souls are the basic ones, which have no innate specialty or form which makes them versatile but weaker than other more specialized ones. Souls of all kinds have set perimeters from which you can work off of, and you can fuse items gathered along your adventure to infuse unused souls to make them stronger. Souls and the resulting characters have Levels, and you can raise their levels during creation/rebirth by using something I've yet to decide. Also, if you really want you can fuse various types of souls together for various purposes. Like fusing a Boss Soul to a Blank Soul so you have greater control over it, merging Specialty Souls together or just simply raising the base stat. Also, having a character die means they restart from level one and you can destroy one of your characters for their soul if you want. I'll flesh this out and refine this more, but I really like this idea.
