^ Is not true. The most successful behaviour is not being the alpha (look at the movie "Alpha and Omega"). The most successful behaviour is that of community and cooperation. Too many of times have I seen promotion of power. "Switch to Tlm for wins", "Noob, use bunker buster next time", "Fame me plz!"...etc...

There is a divider between ignorance and knowledge. Ignorance is without knowledge and thrives in those who nurture their status and fear its death. Ignorance hinders cooperation and the basics of kindness! Knowledge is being able to accept and acknowledge the circumstances and look to solutions. In EpicDuel, the solution is to forge for friends who can support you while you play and in the resulting will make you stronger.

There is only so much you can do by yourself, an ant can lift up to 50x its own mass, but sometimes that ant needs a buddy to move that acorn! The sharing of knowledge, the cooperation between people, proves that obstacles can be conquered through generosity or kindness.

Look to your administrators, they work as a team. Titan is the bawz but how could you expect him to implement this retrain revamp by himself (his computer would be drowning in coffee).

Now look to your veterans, ask Fay Bee or Comicalbiker about their motivation and success. I can tell you that regardless of Comical's wittiness, or Fay Bee's friendliness, that they at one point asked questions from others and they provided in return. Factions are as strong as the whole. Not the leader or the individual. Their success sprouts after a union of winning and determination.

So let us not count out our enemies or strangers or even the administration team.

I tell you, "Evolve or Die" is not the right path. Evolving to communicate is what keeps those strong.

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 18:37:38)

I always thought "Evole or Die" meant you have to adapt to how the game changes. Or if you cant adapt you will just continue to lose. What does it have to do with ignorance and knowledge?

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 18:38:09)

or just switch to tactical merc :)

Stabilis -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 18:47:56)

@Isaiah,

Well this is a personal issue about opinions and how they contrast, I am not here to manipulate you when I inform you that: Evolve or die is more than being successful (in-game). It is about disregarding others (good example: switching to Tlm because someone told you mercs "SUCK"), maybe sometimes mercs won't have a great status after an update, but it doesn't mean they can't be utilized to their full potential and do well. In fact, by sharing insight between players (merc players for example) you can overcome your weakness whereas the Evolve or Die guy, upon death becomes infuriated and disappointed to no extent. Seek fortitude in friends who can help.

This is the light within community.

Wraith -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 18:53:40)

Alpha and Omega was a great movie xD

Faction isn't teamworj anymore. Factions are about who can get the most wins. Higher ups leave/swit h factions without blinking an eye. Same for booting.

Everything is on the leader, the Alpha. The factionmates obey (the Omegas) do what their told (the catching the golfing bird part lol).

This is the ED family. Obey daddy or you'll feel his foot. That's still the way some families run.

Evolve or die. Your faction leader isn't a friend, he's a boss.

I was not referring to any particular factions.

In my faction passive activeness leads to success in factions. The fault lies in inactivity however, and getting away with being inactive.

Stabilis -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 18:58:51)

^ Ok I'll remove that faction bit I thought every faction was a family like mine [:(].

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 19:06:55)

@Frosty Even if what you say is true. Peoples opinions can change overtime. Besides this is about "Evole or Die" not about "I think for ED to be a better game we would need more peopple on the staff, like coders so releases would be much faster." So I find that very off topic.

Stabilis -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 19:08:18)

Please keep mocking and insults to near-zero. Thanks.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 19:14:50)

I have no friends in game, I have never been in an actual faction but I can still beat many players that are in the biggest factions or have 500x more wins than me.
just wondering what the original post was all about.

Stabilis -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 19:18:24)

^ Encouraging generosity between players and being there to provide support vs. the narcissist mindset.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 19:24:44)

I just don't understand how "evolve or die" was countered by your post. the rest of it was very positive :)

you don't need to be generous or kind to achieve your goals, that has been proven by pretty much every nation and every set of leaders ever. they evolved while you died.

Lord Nub -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 19:48:45)

quote:

"or just switch to tactical merc :) " TACTICAL MERCS ARE USUALLY PEOPLE WHO SUCK AT THE GAME AND WANT WINS LIKE YOU Seriously, i've seen a lot of threads. You said Cyber needs a nerf. Tact is OP. Your are ignorant now shut up and stop trolling it's freakin annoying.

Well Tac Merc is much too boring of a class now in my opinion. Also with the heal update a lot more strategy is involved which I very much like. Were on the right track and hopefully they keep it up despite all the criticism they get from everyone myself included.

Also here is a video showing two of the more well known 2v2er Tac Mercs being defeated by a bounty and tech mage :)

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 19:58:56)

It is really interesting of seeing the landscape of the 2v2 field slowly changing. Unique builds like Lord Nub and Loki are emerging, and providing new opportunities and also new challenges. 2v2 has been very enjoyable of late due to slow transition of balance and effective 2v2 with all the classes.

Just in regard to opening statement, when one is evolving, basically, it means to adapt or even simpler, to keep progressively thinking. This game, like life, it is not perfect, but... We should not stop being the best we can be within ourselves and our peers.

Stabilis -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 20:01:07)

"Evolve" got twisted in ED when it came down to power.

But of course I know it means to adapt! [:D]

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 20:08:49)

Greenrain, your opening statement is interesting because, from reading it, the evolve you present is about expanding one's horizons and thinking of a broader scope beyond individualism, and focus on community.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 20:33:14)

I liked the post too, was only the one part I didn't agree with :) [the title too hehe]

I agree the term evolve or die is sadly overused by those who ALWAYS choose the latest OP build/class combo and expect everyone else to do the same or quit whining.

nico0las -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 20:38:10)

Although I agree with you entirely, ED simply can not sustain a kind community. This is to be expected, seeing as it's a PvP Game. That would be like getting mad at Black Ops players for raging.

What Sinistar said above is right. No matter how much we want it to be, it will never be a GG, so to speak. It's all about who can make the most wins, in the shortest amount of time, and with a minimum amount of deaths.

Why can it not sustain a kind community? Simply because our goal in ED is to win battles. Yes, there is a social aspect, but that's not the main purpose.
As for the TLM situation, there's nothing we can do. Again, the goal is to win, and if one can not do so, one must find other means, in this case changing classes.
I see where you're getting at, and I agree that's where we SHOULD be going, but it just can't be done. Taking an advantage in battle is natural, and you can't blame someone for doing so.
"Evolve or Die" is, for better or for worse, the most used phrase now, for the "Delta Evolution".
The community needs to evolve. To develop to meet the demands of a living style or society.
We need to adapt to our...difficult situation, learn from our mistakes, and come out on top.

Whatever you may think on my post, I find it extremely confused. I failed to explain my point of view accurately, it came out harsher than intended, but I can't think of another way to say it.

Stabilis -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 20:45:37)

Nono, Nicolas, that was a good post.

You posted strongly about duty in community whereas I posted strongly about relationships.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 21:24:31)

Adapt and Overcome is my saying in this game it is pretty much the same as Evolve or Die but Evolve now means Class Evo so with my saying i can still the lowly TM and just overcome my enemies

rej -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 21:39:02)

I laughed a little when i read 'Comicalbiker's wittyness.'

Yes. This game would be a much healthier enviroment if players were kind to each other.

Retrosaur -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 21:42:13)

Lol we got a hotshot here thinking he's the dev

He's only trying to keep his humble topic from being locked due to flaming, i think. [:-]

Stabilis -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 21:48:45)

Ex-squeeze me, hypedxlord? I simply don't condone my thread being locked for disorderly banter. You skim my posts and use prejudice to assume my self-righteousness. But I forgive you. I mean no one harm or even inequality.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 21:58:52)

hypedxlord left apparently but just comes back to be nasty.

so Greenrain, what do you suggest for a player like me, who hasn't shown any interest in having friends in game and will never care about a faction?
since I quit WoW I stopped caring about all those experiences that can make a good game great. maybe it isn't too late for a cynic like me lol

Stabilis -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 22:07:37)

Something you could always do is look for those newbies who have no experience in AE games. Make sure they have no bad intentions and if suitable, take them under your wing. Teach them to understand ED and they will live on as your prodigies. They will make you renowned and remembered for ages. A good use for people if not for friends.
