Retrosaur -> I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 20:15:16)

I don't understand what is wrong with the luck system.

Today:
Lvl 25 vs Lvl 25

Sounds fair right?

Other opponent: 19 Support

Me: 52 Support

Guess who goes first. The opponent.

What is this I don't even.

edwardvulture -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 20:16:26)

you get a bigger chance doesn't mean that the 19 support guy can't go first

Angels Holocaust -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 20:18:21)

You just have to get used to going second. This game has always been like this.

nico0las -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 20:19:47)

Angels is right. Design your build so you get used to it... I think, though, that now, the more support you have, the LOWER your chances of going first. I go first against support mages and mercenaries, but never first against tacticals.

The Death Trap -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 20:26:37)

Yes get used tp it, and your only lvl 25 so dont be complaining.

Chosen 0ne -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 20:29:55)

^Jocky, he is talking about his alt lol.

Retrosaur -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 20:35:34)

Thanks guys for clarifying that for me :3

PD -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 20:40:28)

Clearly you failed to realize that the RNG always hates you.

Don't worry, it doesn't play favorites. It hates us all equally.

<3

hardcore59 -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 21:28:40)

dude i have 70 support tech mage and 85% of the time i get an opponent tha has 55 or less and i go 1st 1% of the time and still win deal with it i'll stop there you dont wanna get me started about this bullcrap in this game

altimatum -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 21:59:16)

Oh RNG....you heartless Vixen.

Builds should be prepared for that 2nd turn scenario

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 22:00:50)

always have a backup man.

Really you should have afew backups, going second, Energy drain, and block

Retrosaur -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 22:29:08)

Basically I derped and changed class for my bh to a ch. (Dumb move, but I was looking for something else besides tac). It's hard, when there's relatively no hp regen at all).

If you go last as CH, YOU LOSE hurr hurr.

Midnightsoul -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 22:30:13)

wow. im sorry but if ur going to to be complaining about that, i can only define u as noob.
u need to always be prepare for 2nd turns and always know that having higher support doesnt mean u go first, it only increases chances of it

Hatsuka -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/1/2011 22:44:44)

What about using 177 supp can be stunned ? what about a guy with 0 dex can block ? Explain it lol

Retrosaur -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/2/2011 0:18:50)

@Rarton
lol agreed.

Explain how it JUST so happens to occur almost everytime. Gosh, is the luck factor really that high? It just so happens that someone with NO dex and Default Support manages to ALWAYS crit you, when you clearly have a 40 point supp advantage. Gee, does seem suspicious.

Oh well, guess I"ll just have to suck it up.

igfod13 -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/2/2011 4:20:39)

Guys,

You gotta realize that everything has at least a 1% chance of happening. (blocks, stuns, etc.)
"Luck" stats will eventually happen to everyone, no matter how high or low that stat is. What the stat does do is change the frequency of the block/crit/stun/deflect from happening.

The minimum block chance is 5%. (from player's handbook, only place where I can seem to find the info) If you strike four times a battle, you have almost a 20% of getting blocked at least once. That means you are still getting blocked around one every 5 battles against people with dex A LOT(around 40 points) lower than you.

Support DEFINITELY does not guarantee that you go first, no matter how low support your opponent is. MAXIMUM MODIFICATION OF STARTING FIRST(for players of your own level) IS 15%. (Again, from player's handbook) That means that your opponent still has 35% chance of starting first(which would require a difference of 60 support) NO MATTER HOW HIGH YOUR SUPPORT IS.
That's a higher probability than flipping a coin twice and getting two heads.

Your support advantage, however, should help in the long run. See how many times you start over the course of 100-200 battles, 1000 if you really want good data, and you should see that the probability matches up to some degree of randomness.

Now about luck factors being too high, "luck" happens to everyone. "luck" won't always go your way when you need it, but it will come.

Complaining about luck really needs to stop.
-okdude

I don't know how correct the player's handbook is though. But hey, Big Tuna and Titan did contribute to it. Still, I think "luck" progression needs to be confirmed by a staff member. It would give more basis to the "luck" that happens.

Drianx -> RE: I Don't Understand (11/2/2011 4:24:14)

Losing a fight/many fights because you were unlucky is not bad, it is how the game works.

The bad thing is that many stupid players are mistaking luck with skill.

Retrosaur -> One Last Thing.. (11/2/2011 21:21:06)

One last thing.

Riddle me this, why is it that even though it's clear I have higher support, and

WAIT FOR IT

am 5 levels below the opponent, I still go last. What the hell? I thought there was a "guaranteed underdog start" in this game.

Basicball -> RE: One Last Thing.. (11/2/2011 21:23:48)

not guaranteed, just higher, everyone always has some chance to go first/clock/deflect/crit/whatever
there's a minimum % chance

ND Mallet -> RE: One Last Thing.. (11/2/2011 21:24:22)

It's not 100% but it's close enough that it might as well be. I've gotten first in Juggernaut battles against 2 lvl 28s before.

nico0las -> RE: One Last Thing.. (11/2/2011 21:43:03)

I'm suffering from the same problem.
I believe they switched it's effect, so now the more you have, the less likely you are to go first...
That'll explain why Str abusers always go before me (I have 50 support. For a str build, that's a lot).

This is my eighth battle in a row going second. Now, I'm not one to rant, but THANK YOU, team, this support mess up is definitely helping my KD ratio. Solid plan you got here.
If you want to know why I'm ranting, going second as a cyber hunter is fatal.

HS Prometheus -> RE: One Last Thing.. (11/2/2011 23:14:26)

@ above
I competey agree,im a Str cyber,with 40+2 support,and i never go second,the genera strategy of my build is based on 1st turn malfunction,i would advise you drop your support to the lowest possible for your requirements (miine is 40 because of serpent blaster)
lower the support by a little and test this theory,see how many times you go first.

PD -> RE: One Last Thing.. (11/3/2011 0:44:03)

To people saying to get rid of luck, everything requires luck.

The damage ranges of attacks? That's the game rolling a random number from your damage ranges.
The Defense ranges of the defenses? That's the game rolling a random number deciding how much damage you take in.

Technically to remove luck factors is to remove every roll that the game uses to create what is called your turn.

Please think about what you're saying BEFORE shouting out in an angry tirade of how much you hate blocks and want to remove luck from the game. You'll remove much more than blocks.

Wootz -> RE: One Last Thing.. (11/3/2011 7:33:42)

Yep, pretty weird about Support.
I just fought a level 34, she had 28 support, I had 44. And she stunned me, and on top of that I was 2 levels lower then her.
That stunned ruined my chance to win :P

PivotalDisorder -> RE: One Last Thing.. (11/3/2011 13:35:12)

@Hypedxlord: I go 2nd against most 125health str tac mercs [on my CH] and I win a lot of the time. find it harder
to win against bountys who go first cause of blood lust. I barely get started and they massacre me.
