Stabilis -> Crackdown on Player Discipline (12/28/2011 10:03:08)

This is a game. Look past the barriers and see the profound joy it holds. ED is great, it can and will have players feeling playful and fun. But... with the lack of responsibility and discipline, many a times are players hurt mentally and emotionally abused by a sin of neglect. I hear and have experienced as well, flaming and trolling in ED itself.

My thoughts, is that we should have an improved chat filter and punishment system.

What are your thoughts for this?

Remorse -> RE: Crackdown on Player Discipline (12/28/2011 10:51:13)

xD

Player discipline you say.....

ED players would have to be one of the most patient, the most giving, the most hopeful players I have ever seen.

Either that or non of us would be here.

However scamming has become more of a problem but it strikes odd that their isnt even a "scamming" option to choose from in the report abuse button.

rej -> RE: Crackdown on Player Discipline (12/28/2011 18:55:24)

If by improved, you mean fixing the chat filter deficiencies such as the one that blocks the sentences like these:
":P
or not..."
"D:
'm not..."

Then that would be wonderful...

AQWPlayer -> RE: Crackdown on Player Discipline (12/28/2011 19:47:31)

^
Off topic: You could start a whole new thread about the chats that are filtered lol. (it's just so funny [:D])
On topic: Jekyll is right. The fact that there are builds that can beat TLM means that non-TLM players have evolved, while the TLMs still stand a more-than-decent chance against these new builds. One single class having a 50%+ win chance against it's counter build...mmm...doesn't that sound pretty OP?

ND Mallet -> RE: Crackdown on Player Discipline (12/28/2011 20:36:41)

I was wondering if I was the only person to ever realize that the lack of strict punishment is a main cause to why we have such behavior as we do. Sometimes you need a light punishment to set some people straight but to others that punishment won't phase them enough to make them change.

@jekyll My BM build will beat most TLM as long as it isn't a super tank variety or super strength abuser. Of course, not getting blocked by them helps me out a lot as well.

@remorse If we're so patient and understanding, then how come most delays in the release lead to flames and trolling? If I could send you back in time to the week that they released Assassin Class in AQ(the class that was on the Coming Soon list for several months) and let you see how they reacted to the news that they weren't releasing the class on time and would take a couple more hours to a day or two, then I gladly would to show you what is patient and understanding.

PenyihiR -> RE: Crackdown on Player Discipline (12/28/2011 20:41:51)

Luck Factor.,
The Number 1 Problem who always make Player get High EMOTIONAL n RAWR

rej -> RE: Crackdown on Player Discipline (12/28/2011 22:20:04)

Yeah. I can think of four or five more right off the top of my head. There was one that had something to do with a certain German common before and during would war II (which has no reason to be censored in the first place) but i can't really remember it.

D.v.D. -> More chat filter? (12/29/2011 0:46:23)

I have noticed how people sometimes complain about Others callings them noob or n00b

Do you think the word noob should be filtered? IMO it's a word nobody wants to hear

What else do you think should be added to the chat filter?

Remorse -> RE: Crackdown on Player Discipline (12/29/2011 2:11:09)

@ ND

Sure people flame,

But just think for a second, This game has has SOOO many delays the players are practically used to it by now, in some ways I expect delays and if they dont it's a bonus xD.

Even the people who flame are exremely patient, just look through their eyes. Balance has been delayed for 7 months yet Most ED players have the respect of honouring the devs by saying, "great release" in the DNs page.
I would call that extremely patient.

Yu84 -> RE: More chat filter? (12/29/2011 2:30:06)

Well, (They're probably gunna screen out my word)
But I noticed you cant say B____ and you can say ere_____ o.O
(After much thinking(not really) and urging by Whirlwindstorm2 (not really)I decided to change it , any mods/devs wanna know the word PM me)

P.S.
Bracket inside a bracket like a boss? xD

Remorse -> RE: More chat filter? (12/29/2011 2:33:35)

might aswell let noob past, after all people will always call other people names at least with noob no one really cares, well I dont really care.

Gepard Acht -> RE: More chat filter? (12/29/2011 3:14:41)

No more filter as ED already has too many , and most of the time its nothing inappropriate it makes me harder to even speak

Orian -> RE: More chat filter? (12/29/2011 3:33:39)

All I know about the filter is it doesn't let you send bad messages.(as in when you type a message that is inappropriate it won't send but will remain in you typing box)

hardcore59 -> RE: More chat filter? (12/29/2011 9:17:12)

I was thinking the exact same thing but i thought noone was gonna agree so i didn't post anything

Basicball -> RE: More chat filter? (12/29/2011 9:34:29)

i wouldn't say 'more' as much a 'improved'
for example, rigt now, you can't say
you just wanted it to be sharpen, "isn't it"
whether that i placed between "these" is in a new bloon or not doesnt matter.
It's not like you wanted to say something wrong, an you prob didn't even figure you did untill the system told you so.

On the other hand,if things like 'noob' 'gay' and 'dick' get blcked, it might offend someone as well.
For example, someone new to the game who has the name dick (IRL), and he's a gay person.
there would be nothing wrong with him, but since everything he is, is chatlocked, it might offend him.

last but not least, there's things you can stil say in game, like f***, which obviously stand for **** -which you can't say in-game - or FU , or ... it's endless.
imo, it wouldn't be a bad hing to lock these as well

NOTE: in this post, i did not wish to offend anyone. the example i gave were just examples, nothing more.
@forum staff, i used some 'bad words' to illustrate the problems. these were not meant in an offensive way. if you feel like i shouldn't have said it, please, feel free to remove them in that case, you also have my apollogies.

ansh0 -> RE: More chat filter? (12/29/2011 9:40:08)

The name of the country I live in is censored

Country-Nigeria

I AM NOT AFRICAN, I AM JUST LIVING THERE

Delta Hazard -> RE: More chat filter? (12/29/2011 9:42:58)

Oh well, I've been use to getting called noob when fighting Marauder Hulk. He calls me noob pancake and little noob :(

ND Mallet -> RE: Crackdown on Player Discipline (12/29/2011 13:22:57)

@Remorse Flaming does not show understanding and patience. Those AQ players did not flame, they whined a little, but they understood the AQ team is only human and needs to sleep as well. They waited patiently for that Class to release without any flaming that I saw. As soon as ED can get through a delayed release without flaming or trolling, then I'll believe we're patient and understanding.

rej -> RE: More chat filter? (12/29/2011 14:10:32)

No.
'nuff said.

Ashari -> RE: More chat filter? (12/29/2011 16:11:49)

I've merged the "More chat filter?" thread together with this since both are on topic about the chat filter. I've also deleted several off-topic posts. This isn't the place for balance issues, please keep those topics to the Balance Thread. Thanks!

nico0las -> RE: Crackdown on Player Discipline (12/29/2011 16:41:07)

ED has the most savage, unsportsmanlike, and foul mouthed community I've ever seen in a PC game. (If you compared us to Xbox live or PSN, we're angels.)
I find it surprising how patient we are, as there are often enough complications that drive us crazy.

I think someone suggested putting in vivox a few months ago. That would be nice. The chat filters are driving me insane.
@D.v.D I'd rather have "noob" banned than "damn it". Agreed.
