Lord Nub -> Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 12:23:40)

Is it time yet?

I can say for myself that I have been patiently waiting since the games release for a game mode in which a players ratio means something.

1v1 ratios are tainted by NPC's

2v2 just keeps getting worse and worse, especially with the new 6 level range pitting players like myself, with a level 28 with basic blades against two 34 full varium players, not to mention the constant disconnects making it nearly impossible to win a match anymore since the nerf of heal.

Can we get a mode that is not tainted by NPC's and requires some skill to maintain a nice ratio?

Why are we unable to have a mode utilizing the awesome ally link feature introduced with the release of Armor Hazard?

Would it not be a blast for the players to battle alongside long time friends? Would this not add much more appeal to the game?

I find myself board with the redundancy of this game and think that an ally link mode would spark so much more interest in this game for everyone.

What say you?

As I have said before, new features take time. Implementing a new battle mode with the ally link may come but don't expect it soon.

As with all modes, there is always a chance your opponents will leave, but the Juggernaut mode is the most challenging (For me atleast)

We have the challenge system, and the 2v1 bosses. I do think as Titan and Hudelf have more time, new features like 2v1 boss battles will be better implemented.

Just my opinion

2v1 is a new one, Is it not? No board for it though as it takes a while to do them and usually requires skill. :)

Lord Nub -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 15:49:35)

^ Huh?

No idea what your referring to...

But wouldn't you enjoy linking up with a friend and fighting two other friends?

Imagine the camaraderie and competition involved with that....

Don't have to worry about your partner leaving or skipping a crucial turn...

I'm sure many would absolutely love to do that!

Also I believe hearing somewhere that Titan said it was impossible to do ally link in 2v2 which may be why every time this is brought up it's ignored. If so can someone provide the quote and source?

Don't understand why it would be. Could possibly be rather difficult to separate the two 2v2 modes but I believe if they worked on it and tried to make it happen they could work it out.

I am Primal -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 15:53:04)

i see what your saying lord nub. and i agree that u should be able to play with your friend in some type of battle mode. but as a fellow 2 vs 2 player wouldn't that make our loved mode 2 vs 2 dead? no players to battle ? and i'm sure with the amount of bad luck you can get in 2 vs 2 u agree it takes tactics. from what your saying it sounds your getting tired of having a bad partnerS who doesn't listen or has bad weps ect. and hey we all get them. but sometimes nothing is perfect :/

ND Mallet -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:02:20)

I asked Titan on Twitter whether he would implement Ally Link into 2vs2 or not. The answer was no. If you haven't seen any of the Epic Damage vids on YouTube then you should go watch some of them. That is the reason why Ally Link should not be used in 2vs2. You could easily dominate the entire battle mode by abusing stats. It's not fun being stun zerked by Mercs. Would you like to just be stunned and dead? I managed to get over 200 strength(with Field Commander) in one of those Epic Damage vids. Fireball was 98 damage before and after defense was taken into effect(Agility and no points into dex or tech). Do you really want to fight something that will be hitting you for 60+ in one shot and recover health from Bloodlust?

Laces -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:03:05)

We should have a 3v3 mode where you link up with two of your friends and play against another team. More people might stay with 2v2 as it doesn't take as long as 3v3 would.

ND Mallet -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:04:01)

@Laces That mode has been tested before and the last to go is always dead and lag is unbearable.

I am Primal -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:04:48)

you have a very good point there ND but i think lord nub just wants some fun back into this game aswell as myself. maybe if it wasn't to be a "new mode" but something like a npc.

Sparticus -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:05:00)

I think we need only look at the Epicduel world record thread to see the type of abuse that would occur with linked 2v2 matches.
I can't think of a worse idea. Why would anyone choose the 2v2 button as a single player? 2v2 would die.

Laces -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:05:10)

If not, we could have a different 2v2 mode. Where you link up with some friends and play and just do random things like try max supercharge etc. Does not count as a win or a loss but could be competitive matches between friends.

rej -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:06:55)

Ever heard of juggernaut, dude?

It is almost impossible to cheat in jug, and it requires a small measure of skill to win.

Chosen 0ne -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:12:01)

Ummmm, not be odd, but, WHY WOULDNT YOU want to get hit by a beserker that does 20 20 98, wouldnt that be the funniest thing ever? Especially with your buddies, youll be chatting it up. I see no abuse, because, those build, have TERRIBLE defense and resistance. The epic damage video's also hit people with only hp, and no defense, so they can get more damage out of it, this is entertainment, the 98 fireball ND used, would do probably 40 or 50 damage on somebody else, and after that, he would have no more energy. This is a great idea, and i hope to see it implented.

I would LOVE to do some 2v2 battles with some of my friends, against some other wikedly good people at this game, it would make battles more intense, and they would be fun, cause they would be full of conversation and strategic moves.

ND Mallet -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:14:59)

@chosen How many people 40+ defense? Not many. 98-48=50. Unless you're spamming Dex you'll be hit pretty hard.

Chosen 0ne -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:19:29)

^^Even so, whose to say that they would go first, you could emp them, or do a multitude of things, like raise your defense with reflex boost, or resistance with technician or energy shield. I think that 2v2 battles with character links could work. PTR, or whatever aqw did with the puplic testing thing, should be added to this game, so we could see for fact if it would work or not.

I am Primal -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:24:21)

100000000000000000000000000000% agreed chosen. PTR was a GREAT way of testing necromancer and pvp in aqw. ed should have that it would help alot with balance.

Cinderella -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:24:34)

The problem with "skill battle" suggestions is that they inevitably become "yeah, let's have a mode where blocks and crits don't exist!" which means that everyone would just spam strength. And then your winning or losing would depend solely on going first.

Also, 3v3 was not fun. The last guy to go always died before getting a turn.

A "Battle Royale" mode that wasn't turn-based might be fun.

I am Primal -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:28:18)

3 vs 3 lol imagine 6 full varium tanks in ch and tlm. the most epic battle ever :P

Chosen 0ne -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:33:43)

@Cindy

woah woah woah, who said aything about removing blocks from this battle, wouldnt that add to the strategicness we want to create? (Idk if thats a word)

rej -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:34:22)

Yeah, PTR in Epicduel would be great. Though, what would the requirements be to access the PTR server? a single varium purchase? Over 100$ worth of varium purchase?

Chosen 0ne -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:42:35)

^I'd say a single purchase, although, 100 would be fine.

edwardvulture -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 16:58:11)

try to play as a non-varium without enhancements. That requires skill.

rej -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 17:17:40)

^It requires skill to win anyway. However it requires very little to npc 15 times an hour, 4 times a day.

edwardvulture -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 17:21:17)

However it does require more skill to win with a stat disadvantage

Lord Nub -> RE: Time for a mode requiring skill? (1/8/2012 17:55:55)

@ ND,

I'm fully aware of how to play the game without watching vids of players spamming certain areas and fighting players with no armor and basic blades.

In a new ally link mode, those builds would be as useless as they are now in 2v2 so I don't see the argument there.

@ Cinderella,

Basically already depends on going first except in 2v2 there is much more involved. If ally link were presented in a new mode the way they incorporated Juggernaut, I believe it would decongest and make the regular 2v2 more enjoyable for the F2P's as well as the less competitive level cap players.

Also, it's the players that don't understand percentages and don't use math in their duels that whine so much about crits and blocks. It's a part of the game and I fully expect them to be in "Skill Modes."

1v1 is more difficult in the crit/block area because you have less time to even out the percentages whereas 2v2 you have plenty of time to use your knowledge of the game and eventually overcome overwhelming unlucky streaks.

Ally link would present so much more for the game and give the competitive players something to enjoy much more than the current modes.

Don't like the idea of 3v3 at all considering your chances of a disconnected player are increased and it would be very rare to find a match where everyone in a 3v3 actually made it in the match and took their turns.
