The merc will be fine my son has one, but he lost intrest and has not played unless I prompt him,
and he has a high Technology build 86 for a level 29, here is his page http://epicduel.artix.com/charpage.asp?id=littlease
I will try and get him to play more when he is back from spring break. Until then see you on the battle field.

If it wasn't for the field medic nerf, support mercs and tac mercs would still be dominating the 2v2 ranks, and spanking them dex cyberhunters. I personally still use my support tac merc. only now it's 5 focus, and 105 supp, which I think is hardly ever seen, and is very effective. :p

I agree that Mercenaries need to be saved. Luckily, this issue is being addressed in the next update.

Thanks for the support and yes it is great to see there is some light at the end of the tunnel...

@Turk, yeah I have noticed BH making a comeback, perhaps it's because of smoke, since dex plays such an important role in the game. Mercs used to do OK vs them prior to shadow arts, atom smasher is good vs them, but a high risk to use. Due to bloodlust and str mercs have to use assault bot to debuff or they will die on massacre. Problem with that is straight after massacre comes rage... BH, also have this annoying habit of stealing most of my energy :p

@Oba, yes I remember a few of those battles when you were a BM, good to see that you have seen the light :)

@ Scarlet and PD, the support builds you are talking about can be utilised far better by TIM since they can use reroute. Even that 5 focus build is better as a TIM...

@ Hun, wait what happenned to my energy, oh dear, no artillary or bunker... Well I hope I crit and don't get blocked... Atom is blockable, as we all know, so it is really only effective when you have higher dex... So attempting to use it on a dex cyber with shadow arts or a dex mage is probably not going to get you far. Using it against a TIM, well they can do it back and have reroute to boost their own energy back up...

well i dont face many mercs as 34 and i do say there easy to beat but,
merc is still a great class to use for low level, it pwns!! lol

Sorry Stalker, I really don't understand what the point of your post is in relation to the lack of people playing as a Mercenary...

Class balance has been discussed many times over, yep, the game has evolved and balance will continue to change in the future.

Did you have to pick this topic to have a rant in? Maybe it's just me, but some of your statements are unfounded and may be interpreted as being about game finances. Ummm, idk... I say the answer is 962!

At level 30-34, in PvP mode, how often would you see a varium Mercenary? I rarely see any Varium Mercenary characters
Do you think it is easy to defeat that class? Most of the time yes, but when that high strength Mercenary lands their berzerker things get a bit dicey
Would you like me to make a video to show you the full plight of Mercenaries? Does legion like to mutate yetis?

I'm really looking forward to the new skill Merc's are getting. Hopefully, they will get something that truly helps them out in battles and I hope it's enough to get me to become a Merc again!

@Smakie, thanks for the feedback. I was going to wait for the buff and then do a video, I have some material, nearly 7 hours of recordings and I'll try to put my editing skillzors to use... If I can be bothered :(

lol if mercs get buffed then im gonna start playing on my merc alt again :P
Currently I don't play on it cuz there's only one nearby NPC that I can farm on (heavy bio). Heavy Mine Guard is too far away and i'm just too lazy to farm that one xD

Mercenaries are not bad, but yeah, I don't know why, they were abandoned.

I imagine that given the old Hybrid Armor, they would flourish, since it is less diverse.

Yah comical, I can remember a few epic battles that we have had as mercenaries back in the old days, as usual you had some very powerful builds that I tried hard to counter ;)

The main problem now, with all the new classes and some of the increases in stats (mainly armor and tanking) is that mercenaries are lacking that ability to be powerful. If battles proceed past the first rage Mercenaries become very vunerable. Merc power is too easily negated (by energy drain and debuffs) or factored out due to the luck effects. Honestly, the only thing mercenaries have going for them is hybrid armor and it's no wonder the class has been bypassed by new and old players alike.

Without reliable skill power, a decent debuff or regenerative skills, the build options are very limited and in terms of being either effective as a high win % or as a quick kill option, the other classes leave it floundering. I have suggested many balance ideas, but for some reason the devs are reluctant to do anything (the field commander buff did nothing and now tactical mercs have that improved skill) In comparison to some of the other classes the period of time that mercenaries could have been considered to be over-powered pales into insignificance. At no stage (unlike Tech mages and Tactical mercenaries) have Mercenaries ever had the battlefield to themselves. We have always competed, I don't want free wins or to be overpowered, I just want to be able to compete...

The balance/testiing team or devs may have their own opinion, but we rarely hear from them and almost without fail never give constructive feedback to balance ideas.

I was very disappointed that any buff was neglected again in favor of more missions and some rabbits. I guess that just shows the demographic and direction that the game has moved towards!

I agree with the OP. Mercenaries are experiencing a crisis at the moment. So far, I haven't met one who defeated me since I got back, and I'm a Blood Mage. I can only imagine how hard a time they have against Tech Mages and Cyber Hunters. Still, when they're buffed and the wave of class jumpers become Mercenaries, there will be more complaints. It's a never ending cycle of Yin and Yang.

In favour of some bunnies and missions? If you know, new Leveling curve was introduced which meants rebalancing Exp in whole game and changing our Exp to match new curve if you haven't noticed. Then new NPCs (Bunnies) and few missions. Seems like not much to you but Mercs buff was postponed because it could've crashed other code that was released yesterday. Whole buff is ready now, but it wasn't released because it could create a lot more serious bugs and maybe crash the game temporarily due to code not working/breaking. Week won't kill us for the buff, I'm awaiting it myself but no point to say that the game is heading in bad direction.

Thanks Trans, would you mind telling when did the Delta stage start?

When Wiseman was still a mod and on the balance team he said we would get a buff soon, Ashari has also mentioned that mercs are not perfoming well and would get a buff. Rabblefroth said mercs were not performing well at top level and they put into the design notes that Merc would get a buff. Ummm, I have played predomidantly as a Mercenary since the game started, it has gone past the stage of being reasonable...

I don't see much to discuss here, you're simply starting to flame now. Yes they mentioned buffs and it's done, just not released until next week.
Patience won't kill you, but there was releases every week since Delta and balance of other OP classes as well as introducing Evolved ones, surely that takes time from work as well. Or is it killing you that Mercs didn't get buff this week? There's no mention in DNs it would happen yesterday.
Point you made about Devs seeing the problem - members say that Staff never comments on a problem that has appeared? 3 of the Devs acknowledged the problem and since then they were working on a buff for Mercs which is due to come, what more is there to it?

Besides I'd rather wait until next week for Merc buff (my alt is a one) rather than see the game possibly break due to amount of new code required for buff of Mercs, leveling curve, missions and NPCs.
