carabuno -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/17/2012 11:13:21)

My char is a level 30 merc and i can kill up too level 32 varium players if im lucky also i killed 4 level 34 varium players with my merc on account of them missing

Goony -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/17/2012 11:43:00)

@ Carabuno, that's one of the problems that they have in that Mercs perform pretty well up to level 30 or so. Then at the cap when you fight level 34's far more often the balance shifts. keep going you'll see what I mean, good luck in your battles ;)

carabuno -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/17/2012 21:12:00)

Ty gooney im trying to reach cap but you know, its hard

light987654321 -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/17/2012 21:55:03)

i agree to this compain completely. merc have lost their former glory. i remember back in beta when merc were champions in 2vs2. now a days i rarly see many well built mercs. i lost my well made build when they changed the hybrid armor. i want to change class as a cyber hunter cause they are what dominate the fields, because tatical mercs lost smoke screen. i see many mercs in 2 vs 2 but rarely at all in 1 vs 1. its ussaly pretty much every other class 97% of the time. i also think they should buff up more than 1 skill for the regular mercs.

At level 30-34, in PvP mode, how often would you see a varium Mercenary? rarely any at all. maybe 7 in my life time of epic duel.
Do you think it is easy to defeat that class? epends on if its well built
Would you like me to make a video to show you the full plight of Mercenaries? i have am currently living through as a merc, so no thank. i would watch it either way.

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/17/2012 22:05:32)

I remember when they ruled 2v2 also.
Maybe we can give mercenaries their 10% defense ignore back to their multi?
It was originally removed because TLM had smoke. But since that's gone now and mercenaries need a buff then why not?

Stabilis -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/17/2012 22:17:41)

Mercenaries have a great damage output, I would suggest something defensive. Artillery cannot be deflected nor blocked, go critical, rage bomb... since it improves with Support there is no conventional debuff/nerfer to lower it's damage. Making Support (a very offensive stat), suggestive of damage is only leading back to power spam as seen in the Tactical Mercenaries with a Support improving Field Medic. The last thing we should ever demand is to be without tactfulness; to have boring battles where players only ever attack. In that case all classes should have Bloodlust, since we all play to deal damage. I REALLY wish EpicDuel, being a strategy game, is more along the lines of strategy, where thinking is promoted.

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 1:49:32)

There is also no way conventional or unconventional to improve support, so unlike the BH multi+reflex or TM plasma rain+technician there is no way to improve it.

SirNopp -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 2:19:05)

I'm a level 30 Mercenary. The names 'tetapctr'.

Ez_Ease -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 8:04:21)

What I would like to see for the Merc is an Armor you can buy that would have a passive skill.
Then atom smasher would be more effective in my opinion. To spend a turn where I inflict no
damage is suicide and the energy used can be best use in another attack. It is fine against other
mercs because we are the only class without the means to get back energy. This armor would
be exclusive to just regular merc.. You can use the template that bounty hunter has when they use
reflex boost.
If struck with a physical blow get back 15% of the damage is converted to your energy,
If struck with an energy attack get back 20%.

The same can be done for classes that dont have blood lust.
The armor will always be an exclusive to classes with out those passive skills
to prevent people becoming OP, and less in ability.

Ranloth -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 8:34:22)

An Armor that gives you an exclusive skill if you buy it? There's a reason some Armors have effects and chance to happen is quite low, as it'd be too big advantage. Having passive ability which is same as an existing skill that requires Energy + lasts for few turns is OP. Then as TLMs are also Mercs I could get 44/49% from Reroute total if we combine both. :D
Atom Smasher is already effective, with high Str it's already better than EMP unless you have high Technology then EMP might be stronger. Yes it can miss but it's stronger; costs less energy, doesn't improve by any stat but your weapon + Str and it can take a lot of Energy with decent build + mid-Atom.
Mercs without mean of getting EP back? You forgot BHs and BMs too, they cannot do so either in any way - Reflex of BHs is not a way to get Energy back either.

Rather than give passive abilities to Armors and put those without them at even bigger disadvantage, just wait for the buff of Mercs and then comment on it. Only 5 days to go.

Stabilis -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 10:34:41)

Aw man... I hate it when I am replied to when I am sleeping, it causes me to appear as a moron. One moment.

Hun Kingq -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 11:15:25)

There is nothing wrong with the merc class and only reason you see less of them is because they switched to tact merc because of smoke. The merc class has two very powerful skills bunker buster and Artillery strike and increase support then artillery strike will be even more powerful then what else increases with support aux damage. Then they got an energy stealing skill can be blocked but not as often as assimilation, which takes away less energy at max. So all this call to buff a class and save a class that needs neither. You want to save the class all of you that became a tact merc switch back to a merc then come back and talk about saving a class.

Goony, the Blood Mage has it worst when the energy is stolen, they too have no way to regain energy, 15% don't count when it takes more energy to gain 15% back, and the Blood Mage has no energy stealing skills.

Only reason it appears the merc class is doing so badly is too many are blindly following the herd, the strength abusing herd or the robot abusing herd.

I am a Merc, been it for 2 weeks. Am I allowed to say what I think now? [:)] The class need changes, it really does. Those who say otherwise is either blind, or only afraid of it getting strong once again, so you not get any "easy-kills" when you get vs Mercs.

nico0las -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 11:25:13)

At level 30-34, in PvP mode, how often would you see a varium Mercenary?
Maybe once in about 300 battles?

Do you think it is easy to defeat that class?
Well, that depends who you're facing. For example when I face you or p4r4no1d dr34m3r it's somewhat challenging. However,
the majority of mercenaries are... unable to use it to it's maximum potential.

Would you like me to make a video to show you the full plight of Mercenaries?
No need to trouble yourself, I think we've all seen what they've become.

Mercenary hasn't degraded over the past few years. The other classes simply got stronger and left it behind. Mercenary can't gain mana or health,
it's stats and skills are all over the place, and the majority of what it used to survive on has been nerfed (support, for example).

I'd like to see it make a comeback, but I find it somewhat unlikely.

ND Mallet -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 11:25:33)

The class does need a tiny little boost in power. Like Goony says, the battles are really close as I experienced first hand in several different occasions.

Stabilis -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 11:47:37)

@oba,

If you were citing he who does not appear on my forum, I just block him.

Ez_Ease -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 12:01:08)

Hey Trans, I agree about not having that armor for TLM, if you notice I said regular Merc, because that would be over the top. We agree here :-)
With that said all other classes do have the means to gain back energy whether actively or passively, the Merc has none of it. We still agree because I did not forget. :-)

That why I said an armor just for them but scaled down, and it is still a % of dmg only if someone does high dmg would you get a large amount of energy back.
If that happens most likely you are dead. Having to buy cans is okay but that takes a turn.
Trust me I use my atom smasher on just about everyone, I have to pick my spots when a foe has the ability to regain it back.
I have 4 mercs 2 of them lvl 30 and the other 2 are lvl 29 some are vairum and some are not and one is a mix. The strongest is a lvl 29 @ 53 + 14
So I play as a merc more than anyother class I dont class hop, I make em then use them. I have also a TLM @ 32 so I am a merc kind of guy.
I look forward to the next update will bring as I am always adapting and adjusting to what happen. Merc can be on top again it will require time and work. :-)

ND Mallet -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 12:03:28)

@Ez There is no way that you can make an armor that is only for mercs and not TLMs. If a merc can equip it, so can a TLM.

Stabilis -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 12:06:59)

^

How authentic would that claim be?

Ranloth -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 12:07:52)

Besides, adding passive effect of that caliber is OP by any means anyway. Frost Aura of Frysteland Armors - it has about 11% chance to appear when enemy hits you, and we're talking about stronger effect and 100% of the time. It's pointless as it's too OP'ed and as ND's said - if you can equip it as a Merc, then TLMerc can as well.
And going back to Atom discussion - it's a strategical skill. You're dealing with chance to miss so raise your Dex to lower it, that's all there is to it. Don't want Atom? Don't train it and try to play without it. Want it? Then train but deal with the chance it might miss but at same time it can give you big edge over the fight.

Ez_Ease -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 12:09:18)

Okay then that will be the last I talk about that. Now what can I think of next. :-)
See you on the battlefield
My TLMerc is "For get you man" and my Merc is "Quiet Death"

Lord Machaar -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 16:12:49)

Well, mostly i meet too many mercenaries in juggernauts, Most of them are using BunkerBuster which in a crazy way deadly,especially if i met 2 mercs, i'll be able to take off energy only from one and other one will be free to Use this deadly skill and take 40 critical hit which is actually annoying me so if you are guys thinking about to make mercenaries better, take consider of juggernauts!

For real now!

Ranloth -> RE: Save the Mercenary Campaign (3/18/2012 16:18:14)

Machaar has a fair point, I did experience it twice as a Juggernaut and once as one of the 2 Mercs fighting one and we won due to double Bunker + Multi. XD
But chances you meet 2 Mercs with same builds and in a Juggernaut fight (2v2 button for them) is quite low, although will agree they pose a threat. But same can be said if you meet 2 Caster TMs or even BMs in Juggernaut, or Str-abuse players. ;)
Although Juggernaut is supposed to be a challenge for a reason, 2v1, while in 2v2 or 1v1, at Lvl 30+ Mercs are crushed almost all the time as they cannot deal as much damage or tank through it.

WhiteTiger posted quite a neat suggestion, http://forums2.battleon.com/f/fb.asp?m=20163014 , not advertising it but it's quite interesting as it would take care of Bunker or Plasma Cannon of Mercs/BMs and many other skills which kill us on Crits mainly or give you (very) big advantage - luck.
