Man, I don't think I'll meet kkut soon :P

Astroking112 -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (6/19/2013 21:19:53)

@Hasame:
Don't worry, 30 is the maximum. If things are taken care of beforehand (My estimate is around page 28), then the game will conclude with whichever ending has occurred.

@kim346:
Meeting up with others that you share views with could always be handy...

.R.M. -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (6/25/2013 14:29:30)

As for the stability in my last update, I figured he used his powers to make the shadow platforms... I might just be starting to forget how this all works.

Astroking112 -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (6/26/2013 12:54:38)

I consider any use of superpowers, even non-combat ones, to increase the drain on the player's stability. I wasn't sure where the 6% came from though, as after the update I'm deciding the values that are subtracted. I understand why you might be forgetting, though. It's hard to believe that I started this game over a year ago by now...

Astroking112 -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/3/2013 15:39:06)

Although 42 is an awesome number, I couldn't leave without making another update before I go on vacation! Update 43 is up! I'll be back on the 9th, if anyone needs me.

Astroking112 -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/15/2013 13:16:48)

Update 44 is up.

.R.M. -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/16/2013 16:12:45)

No offense, LDB, but I don't think that your character should be able to cross story lines so abruptly and whenever you please... It's up to Astro in the end, but that's my opinion.

Lord Darkblade -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/16/2013 17:15:22)

So. He's mad, at Astro, at Fate, and his crystal.

Astroking112 -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/16/2013 22:11:37)

@Lord Darkblade:
Yes, but that doesn't mean he can ignore the limits of reality, even if he knows it to be fake. That was one of my concerns with the original proposal, and the reason that it was removed. Even if Infinity could combine powers, combining the knowledge of the fourth wall and teleporting would be gamebreaking, and I will not allow it. The fate of the man Satoshi healed so long ago rests entirely in Selutu's hands, now.
Also, I do remember trying to leave quite a few warnings that overusing your powers so greatly can have consequences, especially when they're unstable due to the low stability you had had. It is possibly to return to the New York that you need to be in, or to investigate where you are--It just might not be easy, as all paths shouldn't be in a game.

Lord Darkblade -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/16/2013 22:45:47)

I know that it shouldn't be allowed, but some times, you have to go and say no to authority and do what you need to do. And to Infinity, this is the time.

Astroking112 -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/17/2013 13:29:06)

But it's not as if you can just bypass the laws of the world itself. If that were the case, then even just attempting to play the game would be chaos. It's the primary reason that I didn't allow cartoon physics, as even though Infinity knows his world to be fake, he is still in it, and must abide by the physics there. I have no problem with a character actively attempting to mess with the GM (In fact I find it quite interesting), but only when the situation allows it.

Combining powers is also not possible, nor was it hinted at in any way. The characters were attempted to be balanced without that idea in mind, and implementing it now would seriously mess up the game. I'm sorry, Lord Darkblade, but you'll just have to find a different path back to where you feel you need to be, even if it is not the one you want.

Lord Darkblade -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/17/2013 14:03:10)

Lucidity. The state where you know that you are in a dream, and pretty much allows you to well, manipulate your dream. That concept is what I'm using. To others it's reality, but to him he knows it's fake, therefor he has achieved lucidity, so he can now manipulate his "dream".

Astroking112 -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/17/2013 19:42:26)

But it isn't a dream. Say for example, you have found proof that our world is fake, and however realistic/involved in it you may be, there is no doubt in your mind that everything you have ever known doesn't exist. That wouldn't give you control over the world itself, you would just wonder what is beyond the veil that others are watching you from. If I were to allow this, it would clearly put you above all other characters, and be completely unfair to them.

Manipulation over the reality of the game's world was not at all detailed for Infinity (In fact, quite the opposite). I won't allow Infinity to theoretically become a god amongst the other players, which giving him this kind of power might very well do.

potentially use this to act in otherwise impossible; Through this, they may be able to carry out acts that, within the Universe, would otherwise be impossible;
Quotes from the page. Also how about a compromise? It succeeds, but the strain of doing it leaves him unable to restore his stability even from his crystal, and he loses the teleportation entirely. Does that seem fair?

Astroking112 -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/17/2013 22:24:54)

quote:

As in the second link all that is that I can break the forth wall and say weird stuff that will confuse people. it isn't breaking reality it is breaking the fourth wall.

Quoted earlier on, just before Infinity was approved.

As for your proposal, that would leave you completely helpless (And basically a walking time bomb), and completely take Pimancer and the children out of the picture, as they'd be trapped there. Instead, how about I give you a pointer on how you might be able to escape, and you can pursue it or try and find a different way?

I'll also be a bit more allowing of the odds that it would have to go through. I think that your teleport is an excellent example of just how deadly the Super-Powered become when they're about to lose control, even to themselves. If you were to push yourself to the extent of your first teleport again, while your powers are once more unstable, it might bring you back.

Lord Darkblade -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/18/2013 9:23:00)

Fine. I'll edit my post.

Astroking112 -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/25/2013 17:59:10)

The forty-fifth update has been posted.

kkutwar -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/25/2013 21:31:58)

If our character dies, are we barred from the game or are we allowed to reapply? Though, since Eagle has his crystal his stability should just keep increasing. Actually, simple yes or no question, have you created the character that willingly gives in to their crystal's Spirit? By the way, do I still have one update to post before something happens to Eagle?

Astroking112 -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/27/2013 0:35:35)

Applications are closed, since we are pretty far into the actual game. If your character is killed, then you will merely have to spectate for the rest of the game. As for the crystal raising stability, it is more of due to inactivity. It's pretty much a way to mop up idle people that suddenly drop of the face of the earth (Without informing anyone, of course), to keep the game nice and tidy. Otherwise most players would probably still be alive.

If you do not post this update, Eagle will succumb to his powers, kkutwar. In that case, he will become one of the lost, and you will be removed from the official game. As for your other question, yes.

For the record, though, if I do make a sequel, I would like to involve some way for the surviving Super-Powered from New York to return, possibly with some benefit, as they'd be more accustomed to their powers.

kkutwar -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/27/2013 2:21:26)

Hmm... So Stability is actually energy converted from the entity to create a barrier to keep it from overtaking its hosts, and hitting the SL (Stability Limit) causes the energy to flow back. Thus making the entity stronger and eventually capable of overtaking its host regardless. Additionally, breaking the SL makes the Host steadily become weaker until the probable point they die or are too weak to do anything. Furthermore, Stability is actually the percentage of how much the barrier is stable and these powers are actually because of the entity. So a Prison Crystal without an entity inside would be utterly useless unless you trap something, theoretically meaning you could trap any form of life to gain excess to their powers or skills. If so, the effectiveness of that depends on how much you can resonate with the entity inside... Though, if so that makes Prison Crystal Hosts and Entities some form of soul/mind-meld, the entity eventually being able to overtake the Host once it burns up enough stability. Thus, you have to be a careful mix between inactivity and motion to keep the entity from overtaking you from either end. If you're too inactive, it'll have enough power to take you. If you're too active, it'll take you...

Though, since Hosts can willingly give in doesn't that mean Hosts with enough understanding can just burn up the barrier? Thus burn the barrier down to 0%, use your powers at the strongest, and restore it before the entity can take over. Which also means... Hosts with enough control would have total control over that barrier, eventually (or not) negating the purpose of the crystal. It'll certainly make Dull-Water worthless. I figure the Stability goes from "Constantly draining you" "Less draining but powers use up more" until it slopes back down and eventually reach near-0 stability loss. Though, since the entities don't need the crystals to survive and they'll eventually generate a new one, that means once a connection is made the Crystal really just tries to repair the barrier. Which would mean the entities are inside the hosts at all times...

Besides that, I'm sorry for not posting. I kind of lost interest overall for the UCaG what with being distracted with a Mecha RP thing (That barely describes it by the way), though I'll post soon. By the way, can non-human creatures become hosts? Plenty of animals are smarter (and more evil *Glances at dolphins*) than they look, plus humans can barely understand each other so obviously they wouldn't know what non-human creatures actually think. Morality is just a set of opinions and rules you're afraid of breaking, so thinking all things obey your Moral Code is silly.

Astroking112 -> RE: Super-Powerd (NY) OOC (Game under construction) (7/27/2013 21:56:16)

The first two paragraphs hurt my head [:D].

Actually, I consider the stability to be more of a reference to how human the person is. That's why the powers get stronger when it gets lower (As the crystal is closer to taking control), but weaker when it's higher. Certain things are changed irrevocably (Such as the target's strength), but most of it relies on the crystal's progression in your body. Whenever it's closer, it has more control, which is why things are often more unstable at that point.

Understanding doesn't render stability useless. There is an NPC who knows just about every thing going on, yet he is confined by the same laws as everyone else in the game. Players can already choose to decrease their stability manually, but only certain things can raise it (The crystal and Dull-Water, for instance). When the crystal is close to succeeding, it might try new ways to try and lure you deep enough to be lost, and that is when it is most often possible to give in.

I understand how time can fly, by the way. I feel awkward pointing out when other people are tardy, especially given my record with posting the updates... [:-]
