Angels Holocaust -> RE: Class Change Price (5/17/2012 15:07:05)

@ Frogbones

Why are you so butthurt? Like every time that you post, you complain about something irrelevant like oped classes. You cried a river when tactical mercs first came out and never stopped till they were nerfed into the ground. Now your mad at cyber hunters, get over it! Players like you are the reason why cyber hunters exist in the first place. Ever hear the saying " You take down one super power and another takes it's place?". Guess not, what are you going to do when they nerf cyber hunters? I guess cry about the next oped class. What do you have against boosting anyway? It's part of the game if you don't like it then don't boost and if you loose because of it don't go on a forum rant about how bad boosting is.

@ND Mallet

Why do you always compare apples to oranges? Let's get one thing straight, class change is not a service it's a skill. If you take a look at a characters page whose done class change in the past they will have the class MASTER achievement. Hence the word master, which means that a person has completed training in that certain subject. Lets take a karate master for example, if he decides to learn kung fu it doesn't mean that he's completely forgotten how to do karate, it just means that he's learned something new.

Ranloth -> RE: Class Change Price (5/17/2012 15:13:17)

In fairness, Wraith summed it up pretty nicely on previous page - don't moan on how prices are high because we can go back to 1500 Varium and no Credit option, this will only give more money to Devs and you'll be screwed. Be glad there is a free option, Credits are much easier to farm due to all these drops + PH, and that price went down to 900 Varium as well.
Back in the day, we had to farm Credits much harder and pay much more than you did, so don't moan on how things are expensive as you don't know how harder it was to do it all before.

Quite a rare occasion I fully agree with Wraith, and AH has some truth in above post too (mainly top paragraph with boosters).

ND Mallet -> RE: Class Change Price (5/17/2012 15:44:22)

@Angels It's a service. TMs have unnatural powers from abundant varium exposure. A BH cannot simply be trained to shoot Plasma out of his weapons. Think of it more as a DNA reconfiguration to be able to perform the tasks of the intended class. BHs are stealthy assassins with quick bodies. Mercs are quite large in frames. Mages are frail with the ability to shoot Plasma at people. You tell me how you can train away body height or make yourself shoot Plasma. Just because they named it Class Master doesn't mean you are a Master of Classes. I have Super Defender achievement so does that give me super defenses all the time?

Stabilis -> RE: Class Change Price (5/17/2012 15:46:30)

Proposal:

We can bring back the 1, 500 varium or 75, 000 credit price for the sole cause of permanently purchasing a class.

In the short run, the developers cranked out a boost of revenue. In the long run, the players who buy a class save varium or credits for other expenses.

If we introduced another feature that is very positive but also has costs to shadow the commodity that is class changes (and class changes are frequent and not a "once in a lifetime" event lets be honest here).

Any suggestions for a new feature? Any in favour or opposition?

This is meant for you and I for our benefit, but more so our satisfaction that we get for sending each dollar towards the game that we play and love.

@ND Mallet,

Realism is nice but totally unneeded for the code of coding, Titan can program a worm that spits black holes from its rear end causing the ladies in France to say "hablas espanol?"

ND Mallet -> RE: Class Change Price (5/17/2012 15:51:48)

@void When it was originally released and set at 1500 the question of why is it so expensive was asked frequently. The Devs stated they made it so expensive so people wouldn't abuse the system and constantly change classes. The same would apply to ED as well. It's a PvP game. This means that the classes will be fighting each other. The balance issues would rise so quickly if we could change class whenever we wanted after we already used it once before that the balance team would end up farther behind than they are. At least with it the way it is now the team has some break in balance before another build pops up as it takes awhile for people to decide they want to class jump for a cost of varium or credits. The price is there to make us think our decision through, not punish us for wanting a new class.

Edit: People enjoy realism in just about everything. People don't usually like things they can't connect their own lives to. That's why the villains that bug people the most are the lifelike ones. Baelius is easily a dictator type character and I'm sure if we ever got to talk with him he'd play the part of dictator very well. That's realism. Take realism out of things and you risk losing popularity. You think people would like being able to block bullets in this game(not the people shooting the gun but the person aimed at)? Some people have complained in the past that you can't deflect a rocket launcher explosion so why do auxes deflect.

DanniiBoiixD -> RE: Class Change Price (5/18/2012 16:51:20)

How about they make missions to unlock the specific classes you want, but it's really hard and takes a month to complete or so on. It would just be a substitute for the current class prices, but it'll take MUCH longer. This would make the big spenders like me be able to get the classes through hard work. And I really don't see a problem in a feature like this...But I do agree on class "tokens" that you equip to change your class or something similar to that. Just sayin'. ^_^ [8D]

Completely true, which is why I support being able to permanently unlock classes, rather than having to pay 900 varium/50,000 credits every time you want to change. Of course, this feature would only be available through the varium method, to make tings fair and reasonable.

Nerfed into the ground? Tac Merc is arguably the most balanced class of them all now!

You know what, AH, it's not even worth it. Players like you---the conceited, one-dimensional, selfish ones (and that's the short list)---only care about one thing: Your record. Your existence here is purely out of self-adulation. You care not for bettering the game, not for balance, and certainly not for other people.

It's a character flaw, and for me to think I can change it on this forum is totally naive.

Santa ClawZz -> RE: Class Change Price (5/18/2012 18:13:56)

Bettering a game where I play to win is pointless. Bettering it would mean me losing more in this case and tell me, why in the world would I vote/fight for that?

I like being OP. It's what I pay A LOT of varium for in this game. When people like you get in my way, I just spend another 900 varium going to the next class that these businessmen developers decided to make OP. It's been going on for years. It cannot be avoided. Resistance is futile as long as there's money in it.

This was the first time that I agreed with you. And it's true why would I waste time trying to better this game, I'm trying to better myself and if I wanted to be a charity case I would've applied to be a mod. As long as I'm winning I really don't care what happens, cause at the end of the day my happiness is all that matters. There is nothing that I wouldn't do for my pride.

frogbones -> RE: Class Change Price (5/18/2012 18:25:43)

well, at least you're an honest egoist!

Whirlwindstorm2 -> RE: Class Change Price (5/18/2012 18:27:49)

There are obviously two groups of level cap players in Epicduel.

1.) Like Narcissus and Angels Holocaust, there are those who play for competition. Having to compete against other factions in winning dailies or the flag is the main driving force in their playing. That's what makes it fun for them, therefore having to class change to have the most competitive edge or to be OP is a natural thing to do for those. It is not wrong for them to enjoy this aspect of the game that the developers have put into the game.

2.) Frogbones aka Merv and others however enjoy the game for the strategy aspect of it. The most rewarding thing for them is not having a near perfect ratio or to get tons of wins each day, it is having the pride of beating the OP, mainstream classes by outwitting them. I remember that frog had used to be a cyber hunter during the time of the tactical mercenaries reign, but as soon as the class became too overpopulated, he immediately changed to mercenary.

There is nothing wrong with either perspective on the game. All it comes down to is what oneself believes in when having fun and earning pride, whether it be for the pride of being on the leaderboards or using strategy to out-think the opponent.

Santa ClawZz -> RE: Class Change Price (5/18/2012 18:29:55)

Yes! You should be too in a PvP game. You need to learn to be the best at PVP!

PVP. Learn the word, know the word, embrace it.

My experience in ED to this day has been mixed (mostly bad, sometimes good) ...now explain to me why I should fight to make it worse? To lose? To have long battles? To have no boosters to help me win when I'm out-lucked?

But yeah, you keep your fight spirit here on forums, because in-game my guess is your records are "bad" (trying to be polite).

frogbones -> RE: Class Change Price (5/18/2012 18:32:42)

thanks, whirlwind.

oh, and santa: 17150 wins, 4500 losses. No NPCing here, either.

Proof that you don't have to be a class-hopping zombie to have a decent record.

;)

support!!!!

also i dont think 50,000c is pricey can be made in a week easy i normally make atleast 10,000c a day, so yea even 75,000 would be sweet 4 that if not too little if you get them forever i think mb it should be 1800varium or 100,000c yea that seems to add up better, ppl need to stop selling ure stuff to change class its ok it doesnt take long just stick with it till you have the money then change ure better of keeping your stuff so you can earn the money yea...

Oba -> RE: Class Change Price (5/19/2012 7:43:43)

I for one think it should be the other way, even more expensive. It would probably stop atleast a few to change to the OP class everytime.

Or make it cheaper AND make it so that you can only change class... lets say every 3rd month.

ForTun3 -> RE: Class Change Price (5/19/2012 8:06:37)

i just made one of each and am leaving them that way but yea if i had the choice to keep doing it for nothing after ive payed for the class yea i would totally change class a fair bit, but the only real reason i would is coz dif class types have dif advantages against npc's and can make it easier u know coz i want all the cheevo's on all my chars and yea ive noticed a big difference when i use the right char type vs them, but yea dont wanna pay to keep changing... still tho price is fair if not too cheap (compared to everything else in the game anyway)

Santa ClawZz -> RE: Class Change Price (5/19/2012 10:38:33)

@frogbones

WHAT?! That's not a decent record! I had 25,000 1vs1 and 4300 loses back in gamma and I didn't know what NPCing was back then... Also if you are wondering, I did class change a lot, to underpowered classes (ie: I was mercenary when mages had Loop Healing).

But after a few months, I thought I'd try winning, for real this time. Pride wasn't worth all those loses.

ansh0 -> RE: Class Change Price (5/19/2012 11:43:07)

@Santa
You are so full of yourself.

I still think that the class that originated from your starting class should be available for a 15% discount.

That would make switching to one of the new classes 42,500 credits or 765 varium.

This also prevents people from abusing class change as it only applies to one class.

Santa ClawZz -> RE: Class Change Price (5/19/2012 11:52:55)

Awww you really hurt mah feelers!

What's your record, 5000 wins - 3000 loses?

Clavier -> RE: Class Change Price (5/19/2012 12:16:19)

15% doesn't sound bad.
Hmm I guess in gamma they make class change varium only; because there were only 3 classes, and we can start with those 3 classes for free. But now there are evolved classes.
