nis70770 -> Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 13:51:46)

Hello, this thread is pretty simple. Which class do you think is the most strategic in epicduel?
Why do you think so?

Drianx -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 14:06:41)

I think all classes except for tactical mercenaries are potentially strategic, the only issue is that lots of builds are ineffective.

I said Tactical Mercenary is not strategic because, except for its 2 passives, the rest of its skills have no general logic and can hardly be assembled into a strategy.

The class was well designed at first, maybe too well. But then it was nerfed and some skills have been replaced with completely useless and pointless ones.

rej -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 14:19:55)

I personally think Tech Mage is the most strategic class- there are several build options, and all of them besides Caster require at least a little bit of strategy to be effective.

ScarletReaper -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 16:54:15)

Definetly Techmage. That is the reason I switched to it. Many build options, and lots of very useful skills combine to make one fun strategic class. :D

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 16:58:49)

Mercenary.
TM is just casters and high dex.
BMs are just strength builds.
BH is like BM except 5 focus works as well.
CH isn't too strategic.
TLM has no strategy at all.

ScarletReaper -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 17:03:37)

^Excuse me sir. I am neither. I am 5 focus. I've also been strength, and support. I personally hate those 2 you just mentioned, and love to see what they type as I pwn those builds. :D

Just because you see a bunch of a Class using one build, doesn't mean everyone does that. >-<

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 17:14:56)

^
It means that's what I usually see, I judge classes based on the types of builds the majority uses. Wouldn't make much sense to judge a class based on what the minority does.

Blaze The Aion Ender -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 17:33:52)

I think most strategic is TM
Least is TLM
For blood mage, it has a lot of possible strategy's, but they all seem to end up revolving around strength

Ranloth -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 17:38:12)

@Mr. Black OP
Which is why you're wrong. By that, it can lead to serious issues in real life if you judge someone by certain thing and assume the same thing for everyone. Bad, very bad.

Most strategic class? Mercenary this is. Or if I may rank it:
Merc > TM > BH > CH > BM > TLM

A bit biased but no. There's a lot of builds for Mercs so that's obvious here, not all TMs are Casters and they can pull off Str and Support build which can be really good, BHs don't have to be Str; some may revolve around Tanking more and utilising other skills that aren't Strength-related (Smoke+Mass+BL), BMs can do quite decent Tech, Dex and Support builds (tied with Focus 5) and they aren't as dead as Str builds which are same thing over and over but actually do require strategy, CHs are either Dex or Mass although I do see few Support builds which actually work quite fine and are enjoyable to fight, TLM is tanky for now but it's hard to be unique with it; lack of Dex-based skills + Mineral gets in the way, FC + Multi promote Tanking thus swapping it with Intimidate could work (and revive few other builds), and Poison gets in the way of creating creative build; could be replaced with skill such as Bunker but a bit different that could promote Dex builds + Technician back would allow bigger creativity (low Mineral + high Dex + decent Technican *improves with Dex* + Stun Grenade + SS; you need good Tech too to protect against Energy attacks and with Technican, you could also get a decent use of SS as well as have a Stun attack that's Physical and be able to defend yourself fairly well, as well as perhaps investing in Heal obviously and Support (chances are it may scale again but not set in stone yet by Devs) so this would allow creativity).

So if I judge ONE person and assume everyone is like that I'm wrong? Well luckily I'm NOT looking at the minority and thinking everyone is like that, I'm looking at the majority which in this case is mainly caster or high dex tm. Sure there are some strength or support tms but they really aren't used as much. So when I see a tm it is pretty safe to assume they are casters or high dex.

But anyways I agree with your order, might place CH equally with BH though.

charwelly -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 17:58:47)

I would say tac merc because there are so many builds and combos you could use

BlueKatz -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 18:01:39)

TM, I never have any strategy planned for it, it's all about tactic, I can use many highly unusual skills in different situations without having to build a Hard counter build for my TM and I have many builds to go with.
Sup have at least 3 builds, Dex have 3, Tech have 2, Str have 5 and Focus/Bot have around 4, High MP have 2 have high HP have 2. Not all of them work but most can fight to pair with current average builds out there.

Second ought to be BM, they have everything for any hybrid builds.

Merc is pretty decent if you think about it, they are fairly unpredictable at end game and they have quite good buildpool

CH would be great if they remove PA, such uncreative skill

TLM might actually work if they nerf poison and give them decent Dex skills. I think their setup can be used to build many builds.

BH is fairly predictable and you don't see much builds from them. The defensive BH is pretty much jack of all trade and based on luck, not skill.

Midnightsoul -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 18:01:50)

it used to be cyber hunter and TLM...
now it's both the mages except for BM, too many use str for BM

Lord Nub -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 18:05:02)

None because we still have minimum percentages on luck factors. A player with 19 sup can still crit a player with a bajillion, 20 dex blocks a bajillion dex, 20 tech deflects a bajillion tech so there is no strategy until they bring us 0% minimums.

Ez_Ease -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 18:57:06)

I personally like the TLM and it take a lot of skill to use
that does not relies on poison, strength or surgical strike.
The only builds that beats me consistently are those
strength builds that are in the 24-29 +34 or over range,

any build that has way over the top strength is
the least strategic it merely relies on dmg output.

drekon -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 19:00:02)

Mr. Black OP won't like this, but I think the most strategic class is Blood Mage. I've used ALL 6 classes and experimented with many different builds with each class. One unique build that I developed for Blood Mages is what I call a General or All-Purpose build.

It's highly adaptive and can function well even after being EMP'd. Another thing I love about it is that ALL skills and weapons can be used effectively in battle. Since Blood Mage is the only class that doesn't have an energy reduction skill, those who use this build will have their abilities pushed to the limits.

S/N: The image linked to is an older version with Berzerker, but it's still effective with Bludgeon. Watch it in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcGjDoBSUeE

EDIT:
@Super Fat Man, thank you and I agree, Blood Mages can be very complex.

Super Fat Man -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 19:05:26)

Hmmm that is a nice build Drekon and does seem like it is strategic. Very nice. Shows how Blood mage can be pretty complex.[:)]

Demon Emperor -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 20:37:34)

@drekon
I'll have to try that build. I would call it the Everything Build though. Looks fun. [:)]
Another "complicated" BM build I like to use is a Plasma cannon/Super charge build. Its complicated because you have to have enough dex so you don't get owned my anybody with lots of physical attacks. Solution - lvl 1 Reflex boost. :)

Midnightsoul -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/8/2012 22:06:47)

I have to agree with Drekon. You ppl have no idea how hard I worked as a 5 focus bloodmage to get a 98% win ratio.

frosty123 -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/9/2012 1:33:56)

I think mage cause you have to fill out most of the tree to get to the good stuff. That leads you with tons of options to do watever the heck you want

edwardvulture -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/9/2012 1:44:20)

comes down to the player

Darkwing -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/9/2012 4:47:36)

BM- you can make dex/tech/strength/tank, so many skill combos..., and all build are ok( win rate), even if most BM use strength build.

rayniedays56 -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/9/2012 13:21:00)

Bounty Hunter:

List of all builds I have used ;)

Strength Massacre
Strength Cheapshot

5 focus strength
5 focus support

5 focus high HP (dont recomment, very hard to do)
High EP

Super Attacker (17-21 pri and sec with 18-22 aux)
Super Attacker Tank (same as super attacker but with 26-32+5+1 on all defenses)

MrBones -> RE: Most Strategic Class Thread (7/9/2012 15:33:58)

Well well..

Lord Nub is right, the luck factor being so high, no real strategies can come into place.

But in my opinion, the MERCENARY class is the one that needs the most strategy to actually win with and perform (90% rate).
